Basically he told me what he thought had happened and prompted me to repeat his story which was not a very strong story before the law. I was very ill at the time and basically followed his prompts when the bottom line is that I did not know the answers to a lot of things he told me that I knew about. Consequently, the case unraveled and in the end he turned against me to protect his own self interests. I can say this with authority because my second legal team assured me that if I did not know the answer to something that I could just say "I don't recall" during deposition. The man is a bully which may serve him well in some cases but in the end he turned this against me his own client. Please seek a second opinion before signing on with Mr Schifferman.

Pros: They got the job done…read more Cons: 1. They are very unorganized. They usually put you on hold between 5 - 10 minutes to look for your case; and they charge you for it. They even charge me when they are asking about my military background when that has nothing to do with the case; and charge me for it. 2. I understand current eviction cases volume are very high and takes time. However, we were passed on to 3 different lawyers in the firm within 6 months and have to constantly resend them information when everything is already annotated sequentially. 3. They DO NOT get back to you. They sometimes get back to your email if you send them a follow up email a week after. If you don't follow up with email, they will not even get back to you. Calls are a hit and miss. Sometimes they will answer you and sometimes they will tell you they'll call you later. They do not call you. You'll need to call them.

WHAT CREEPS THEY BE! When I finally got his attention he was falling asleep. This guy has sleep apnea. I was trying to tell him what I wanted to be represented for , it's complicated. I watched his eyes close as I was talking so I talked louder. He said basically nothing and he would meet with me before the Shoreline Court Hearing Wednesday Oct 17th and handed me a pay schedule of his and I gave him all original documents because he was too lazy to go downstairs he has a young wife and a young child and he is too old when he was sleeping while I was trying to explain my case I was terrified. I am 70, disabled and on a fixed income of less than 17,000 a year. The next day he was late to court. I mean late being he was there 1 minute before 9am and the time was 8:45. I was embarrassed. My brother's were laughing as was their attorney. My attorney clearly offended the judge. So the next time I am supposed to see him Monday @ 2pm he cancels on the last minute and then I again am seeing him @ 3:30 on a Friday so guess who still keeps falling asleep and tells me I am going to be the lamb for slaughter in this case for my cousin, screw me and the protection order. This time I was afraid and I called my cousin's attorney and left the message that I had NO CONFIDENCE in JAY KRULEWITCH and I knew I was screwed. She was there in court in the back row at 8:30 am My brother and his attorney were there and my attorney comes in the very last one AGAIN. My attorney never e-mailed the other attorney and again we had the same judge, he told me he was up all night last night doing my thing, he also asked for another 3,500.00 so 7,000.00 to FALL ASLEEP AND I BET HIS DR HAS DIAGNOSED HIM WITH SLEEP APNEA ! The Judge was so pissed off at him and he was arguing with my brother's attorney , it was EMBARRASSING I got $490.00 back from this oinker as I call them. MEN ARE PIGS SOMETIME especially when they are fleecing an old lady who is nice. NEVER GO HERE UNLESS YOU ARE ON A CONTINGENCY ! He cashed both of my checks OCT 29th my case in court was OCT 31st and I LOST BECAUSAE OF HIM. I could have represented myself and lost or maybe won.

When you enter the building there is a very strange feeling, it does not feel professional at all. i opened the door to his "office" myself which felt more like a teenagers bedroom really with his Hookah under his desk lol, i felt as i was intruding on his personal space. however he did welcome me in and started to discuss his fees and what to expect etc.. Despite the strange office and crummy parking I walked away from the appointment still feeling ok about hiring him to represent me..... Until about a week later when i was serious and ready to get things going, thats when things went south. i secured the funds to pay him and sent him all the information he needed to start my case. i emailed him multiple times with no response. i called his number multiple times and left voicemail's multiple times with no response. (FYI when you call Matthews "office" all you get is a generic automated message that says " you have reached some other number than what you actually dialed, please leave a message after the beep") very unprofessional voicemail. Finally i said forget it and decided to call around to different attorneys and within the same day i found an attorney for a thousand dollars cheaper who saw me within the hour after calling him and filed my case that day. overall i would not recommend Matthew to anyone, everything is unprofessional, his office feels like a teenagers bedroom, his voicemail is not business oriented, he does not respond in a timely manner. I talked…read moreto 3-4 other attorneys who offered me complimentary consultations, 2 of whom told me never to pay for a consultation as it indicates a firm that uses it as part of their business model because they can't drum up enough clients. $525/hr for a consultation is also just an absurd amount when most local employment lawyers are charging $300-350/hr when they actually work on your case.
