Also surprised to see no steak options. For guests who don't care for seafood, the only real option seems to be a sandwich.

I read about this being a "must" when in the area and made the 50 minute drive from Sabula with the girls in tow arriving just before 6 on a Saturday. I did not realize you drive thru the actual state park and then down the dustiest road in America to get there. My car was covered in dust (and bugs from the rest of the drive) on arrival. We were told it would be about 30 minutes and went outside to feed the fish and ducks. It was probably less than that time when our buzzer went off and we were seated in the tiny dining room. I feel like they should serve in the bar area where there are more tables instead of making people wait so long. They could double the occupancy. But maybe not enough staff? We got the haddock special for two of us and another went with grilled cheese. I have to say it was really dry. And the tartar sauce was totally smooth and grey - I didn't even know what it was when the server first put it down. The fries are wedge and fine, but I'm not a fan of wedge style so I didn't really eat them. Good coleslaw. Surprising they have no desserts. I guess it just helps to move people in and out because there are signs up too telling you not to linger (in nicer words). We stopped at McDonald's on the way home for McFlurries and that seemed to make the kids happy. Maybe it was an off batch (we only had one plate) but I'm not sure I'd want to make this trip again.

I felt compelled to leave this review because exceptional service like hers deserves to be recognized. From the moment we sat down, Lexi was attentive, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. She had an answer to every single question we asked -- not just about the menu, but about the business itself. She knew so much about Bread & Vine that I genuinely thought she might be the owner. That level of pride and understanding is rare and speaks volumes about her professionalism. What really stood out was how accommodating and engaging she was. She made thoughtful recommendations, not only for food and drinks, but also for other places to visit and things to do around Galena. It truly elevated our entire experience. Because of her suggestions and the way she described everything so well, we ended up ordering (and purchasing) more than we originally planned -- simply because we trusted her recommendations. Lexi is the kind of employee every business hopes to have. She represents Bread & Vine with confidence, warmth, and expertise. She absolutely deserves recognition -- and in my opinion, a raise -- for the way she goes above and beyond for guests. I hope she sees this and I hope this reaches someone as important as her. We'll definitely be back, and a big reason why is Lexi.

It is a rustic setting, but don't think the décor of Cracker Barrel, it is much nicer than that. Try the upper level outdoor deck for a ideal view of the Iowa agricultural heaven. The menu is varied, with something for everyone. Our party had four different entrees, with remarks like 'very good' and 'ok'. French Onion soup was pretty good for starters, made with swiss cheese, my preference is mozzarella, but still tasty. We shared the Pig Sty dessert, which was large enough for 4 to share. Specials on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons. Our server, Jordan, was excellent. Attentive, but not overbearing at all, willing to explain the menu, and give some info on the barn itself. He also answered our question about the upstairs, reservable, Lover's nook, which is quite unique. He also asked how our food was at the end of the meal, and...he actually asked what they could do to make a dish better. That is a plus. Will most likely return to try some of the other dishes, being as it is a very nice pastural drive. If the food can consistently match the atmosphere I could bump up the rating without question.

Full bar, big pours of wine and local beers. Relaxing atmosphere could see it getting loud during the busy times. We didn't save room for dessert but was highly recommended. Gluten free options on the menu even though we didn't need them. Small pond out back.

We had been looking for a local farm-to-table experience when we found Campo di Bella. Our first…read morevisit was a Saturday evening which consisted of a five course meal. Everything about the evening was exceptional. The first course was bruschetta, followed by a refreshing fresh salad with lemon dressing. The main course was flank steak, cooked perfectly. This was followed by a cheese board with delectable cheese samples from local dairies. For dessert, they had an absolutely amazing home made vanilla ice cream. It was rich, creamy, and very tasty. We enjoyed it so much, that we immediately reserved a second dinner which had cider braised pork shoulder as the entree. Again, the meal was exceptional. It started with prosciutto wrapped cantaloupe. I've never had prosciutto sliced so thinly, it was tender and flavorful. This was followed by a butternut squash soup that was thick and rich. I didn't know butternut squash could be so flavorful. I cleaned my bowl so thoroughly that the host jokingly asked if they forgot to serve me. The pork was next. Served with honey crisp apples. It was tender and perfectly juicy. Again, a cheese board was served before dessert. All very tasty local cheeses. For dessert, a French apple tart. I could have eaten a whole tray, it was so good. I've now been there over 20 times. Every time has been exceptional. They offer a variety of wines, ciders, and local beer to go with your meal. They also make their own vermouth which is sweet, with a hint of clove. It's so good, in fact, that we like it on the rocks. Not mixed. The host, Mary Ann, is wonderful. She takes time before each course to provide background on the home grown or locally sourced ingredients. She also gives a history of the farm and her family and, if the season permits, offers a tour of their farm. Marc (Mary Ann's Husband) is the chef. He is a culinary wizard. As I mentioned, I've been back over 20 times, which equates to almost 80 different dishes. All of them amazing! My only criticism (it's a minor one) is that the room is small and cozy and it can get a bit loud inside. It depends on the crowd, but it can be a bit hard to carry a conversation. In summary: exceptional food and exceptional people. I could not recommend it more. Update (12/13/24): We've been coming back to Campo di Bella for the last 5 years. At least 60 times or more and we've never been disappointed. Marc and Mary Ann are incredible hosts that continue to create amazing meals and experiences.

The texture of the gnocchi was so very pleasing - little pillows of goodness. The main course of polenta, mushrooms and house-made italian sausage with polenta was hearty and wonderful. I am not usually a fan of chocolate, but this was delicious! At this restaurant, they use local ingredients as much as they can, too. Give Campo a try if you haven't already.
