They have been featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive In's, and Dives" and have the pictures with Guy Fieri prominently displayed to prove it. The interior is eclectic, which is comforting. While BBQ is the main emphasis here, there are a number of other things on the menu. One of these that's really popular is the seafood stuffed potatoes. These are gigantic baked potatoes that come with shrimp or catfish, with our without crawfish étouffée. Seafood is a definite option here, and one can have it on Friday or any other day. But let's discuss the BBQ. They have smoked turkey that's never dry, and this is great in a sandwich or plate. The smoked wings are another favorite of mine. Then there is the smoked meatloaf, which is great in po-boy form. The ribs and brisket are also very worthy options. I think a two meat plate is a good way to enjoy the BBQ as it allows variety in tasting! Then one has to be pleased by the wide selection of sides. Variety is always great, especially when it includes uncommonly great options like fried green beans, red beans and rice, and Cajun Dirty Rice. One can always get coleslaw and beans if you are a fan of the classics. They even have desserts, if one has any room left for them. I rarely do...

In Louisiana, that matters, and you can taste the difference. They have one of the best gumbos in town--rich, flavorful, and exactly what you want a good Louisiana gumbo to be. Their fried seafood is also excellent. Everything is seasoned well, flavorful, and consistently satisfying. My only complaint is that this probably isn't the easiest place to eat if you're watching your diet! There are a few healthier options available, but let's be honest--you don't come to Prejean's because you're craving steamed vegetables. You come for good Cajun cooking, and they deliver. If you're looking for local seafood, a great bowl of gumbo, and genuinely good Cajun food, Prejean's is absolutely worth the stop.

I returned the food & asked to speak with a manage, but conveniently there wasn't a manger on site so I left my contact info. The manager (Nory) called a few hours later not to address my concern, but to insult my intelligence & palate by delivering a dissertation on how fish naturally smells and the oils it produces. And I quote, "you are the only customer who complained TODAY." The fish did not taste or smell fishy, it was SPOILED! What they failed to understand is that it only takes one customer to tell you your food is inedible for it to warrant attention. I wasn't looking for a lecture; I simply wanted a sincere apology and reassurance that my concern was being taken seriously. Instead, I was met with defensiveness and condescension. 0/10 I do NOT recommend!
