Have been a loyal customer for over 15 years. In past couple years have seen the prices go up dramatically and customer service suffer. Cost increase maybe my hairdresser himself making the increase or salon it's self. I'm not sure where it is coming from. I always ask how much the cost will be before starting any services. Last visit I was told 280 ish as a ball park. 280.00 for things I'm supposed to do every 6 weeks is high and that number was told to me as being the starting price for my services. The same ones I've been getting for years. Almost 80.00 more then I had paid the last time I was at the salon. The hair looked great but had to stay on budget. They seem to take more and more customers while my hair color is processing. Sometimes cutting washing and blowing out a couple people while my color has now finished and needs to be washed out. Leaving me now sitting there waiting on them doing a wash or drying another person. They used to do like one other customer while I processed but one turn to two last time I had to wait for my hairdresser to get back to me while they were washing someone else's client. I don't mind waiting a bit for the hairdresser to get back to me. But the prices has gone up again so I shouldn't have to wait too long. I did come in with an appt. This rating is solely based on my stylist Jessica! I am very neurotic about who I let cut my hair. So if you are too, hear me out. I took a chance on her out of a desperate need for a hair cut, and she has done nothing but a fantastic job each time. My layers have never been more perfect. As for the front desk, yes, they are young girls, some can be snotty and make you feel judged. Others have been really sweet. But whatever, it's the product that counts. Jessica delivers! Since we moved back to Milford last summer I had been looking for a good salon, I was recommended one in West Haven and went 3 or 4 times, never really loving the color or the experience. I have naturally very curly hair and get the Brazilian blowouts to make my hair manageable at its current length just past my shoulders. The place in West Haven colored my hair in the same visit before chemically straightening it and the result was a disaster! The ends of my hair was brown with a red Halo an inch from my scalp and orange at the roots. I had to go to a family wedding looking like this!! I waited the recommended two weeks before recoloring my hair and made an appointment here This was the first time I've ever been here and didn't know who would be working on me, I just knew it couldn't be worse than going back to West Haven. I was pleasantly surprised by the entire visit. Alecia was my stylist and she took the time to have a consultation with me and even bring the owner over to explain why my hair turned out the way it did from the straightening treatment and where the other place had gone wrong without trying to bash them professionally. They were very realistic about my options to fix the look, limited as they were and made sure I understood this wasn't a one and done fix, this mess up was a little worse than I had originally expected but they were going to work with me on the long haul to make it right. I put my trust and my hair in their hands and I'm so glad I did! This is the first time in years that I've found a stylist that isn't rough with my scalp. The shampoo and rinse was an amazing massage very gentle but effective and even when she was brushing and combing out my hair she wasn't pulling it, the last place I would literally go home with head aches from my hair being pulled so badly! And the color is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! We had to go a little bit darker to camouflage the red but I absolutely love it!! The color is gorgeous and cohesive which is exactly what I needed! This is a HORRIBLE place. Do not go there. My wife went there for a color--they kept her FOUR hours and did a terrible job. She wanted a light blond color but they gave her dark brown! She complained that this was not the sample she picked out and was NOT what she wanted. THey told her it would lighten over time! I am really pissed at the terrible place. Best hair salon! I've been coming here for years and wouldn't go anywhere else. All of the hairdressers do such great work. The owners takes pride in who they hire. If you are getting color you cannot go wrong with anyone putting it on for you. Phil one of the owners talks to each hairdresser to make sure they are applying the best color. I highly recommend having Phil cut your hair. He is an artist and makes sure everyone is happy with their hair before walking out of the door. This is where I first came to get my hair done for coloring and I have not been anywhere else that's how good it is. Katie always does my hair and does such an amazing job. The salon is so cute! They have a little cookies and coffee and liquors/wines for the customers. I always feel so fancy when I come here and put my robe on and have my little coffee with my cookie. I absolutely love this place and recommend it to everyone I now, especially the people I see with horrible highlights or coloring jobs. Aside from getting highlights, I also get my haircut here. Pricing is pretty standard across the board at most places. The experience in service and the quality is definitely far greater here. read more

I went here about a year ago and haven't been back since. The staff I interacted with were all rude, they barely said a word to me and felt they were very rough with my fine hair. I win the award for trying beauty salons both in Connecticut and in NYC. I am now devoted to Andre Phillips for the past year. I have had color and styles by many of the stylists and all are terrific. Everyone from the front desk, shampooist, manicurist and colorist are professional and listen to my requests. Theresa is a well deserved busy stylist and colorist. My hair is golden brown...not brassy nor orange as I have been made in the past. Nicole does beautiful styles too. If you are expecting good customer care this is not the place to go . May be it happened to me because I didn't fit into their usual clientele. I had scheduled 2hr make up and hair with Alisha for an event that I was hosting . On the day of the event due to car issues I showed up 25 mins late , Although I apologized to her and mentioned that I am ok not getting any updo which I initially planned she was upset throughout the session. She was rude not even spoke a single word and there was too much tugging and pulling of hair instead of asking me do chin up or something. The curls were looking awful but I was kind of nt sure to speak up . Makeup was another mess, I specifically asked her to apply foundation to my neck and she didn't pay attention and all the pictures were ruined ans the foundation flaw is clearly visibly between my neck and face. OVERALL, SHE RUINED MY MOST IMPORTANT DAY.. I took 1 month to wait and write this review as I didn't want to wrote things in heat of the moment. But even after one month , I still feel she ruined my day , I shldn't have gone to her for makeup and hair which both were bad. Note : She was kind of talking fine to other customers who were getting hair and other things done but not me. Not sure if she was mad that I showed up late or because of my ethinicity. read more

Being new to town, I tried a salon in New Haven that kind of butchered my very thin hair with way too many choppy layers that looked terrible. So I did another search of salons in Milford and found this to be well-reviewed. In particular, Theresa was mentioned as being really great by a couple of reviewers. I was able to get a 7:30pm appt the next day due to a cancellation and I am so glad I did! Theresa was warm, friendly, and really talented with the scissors and razor blade. She was meticulous, fixing my bad cut into something really cute that I could maintain. I just wish I had known about this salon sooner, given that I live in that area. Theresa has been working there for 11 years which is a great endorsement of her as well as the salon itself. The salon space was roomy and bustling since they're open late on Mondays so I did wait 15 min for my turn in the chair. Highly recommend! read more

Will never ever go here again. They price for a partial is 85+. And full highlight is 95+. My partial was $130. More then the full highlight I wanted from the beginning but they said they had no time for. But I made the appt for the full and a haircut. My hair is OINLY barely to my tip of shoulders. Haircut is $35. My bill was $230.00. DO THE MATH? They put stuff in your hair that other salons put on for free and they don't tell you they are gonna charge you for it and it wasn't cheap. I was charged for 4 different things that I did not authorise. This is an a la carte salon. And a complete rip off. I never spent this much on my hair ever in my life. It wasn't even a full highlight. When I got home and really looked at my hair underneath looked horrible. And was not no heavy highlight. This wasn't my first rodeo. I've had many many highlights in my life and by far this place SUCKS!! And they acted like they did no wrong. They are lucky I even payed them. Scammers!!! read more

I felt like they expected me to serve them, not the other way around. I specifically asked (at the front and to the hairdresser) for a haircut ONLY. She cut and dried my hair and then I was asked to pay for a "cut and style" ($15 more than a haircut only). I explained the discrepancy, and they did not offer to take the extra $15 off -- a bait and switch. Then as I was leaving the parking lot, I saw the owner and he looked like he wanted to say something, so I slowed down and passed him with window open. He said "pedestrians have the right of way." WHAT? I was expecting "nice hair!" since I was clearly a client leaving his salon! When I got home and showered, I saw why he didn't compliment me...it's the worst haircut I've ever gotten. Had to touch it up myself so it didn't look so dowdy. Will not return -- it's a snooty place without reason. read more

I just moved here from Chicago and came here for a hair cut. I have short hair and I am very particular about the cut, but I got the best cut and had the best experience here. I went one other place before this and my hair looked awful! But, here the staff was friendly and efficient. Phil worked with me to get my hair just right. He was not pushy, rude or a know-it-all. I say "know-it-all" because my past experiences at hair salons have proven to be a bit annoying. Someone always wanted to cut my long hair short and now my short hair they won't cut enough. They always say they know better and do the cut their way in the end. I am very excited to find a salon that is not only awesome, but affordable. Thank you very much Phil for my lovely hair cut. I am fairly new to the area so I tried this salon for the first time for a coloring and trim. Courtney did my color and one of the owners, Phil, did my haircut. Upon arriving Courtney introduced herself, asked what I wanted done and barely said another word to me for the next two hours! I am not the type to have a deep personal relationship with my stylist and tell them my life story, but I do believe in friendly chit chat when you are spending hours at a time with each other. I tried to open a conversation a few times and received one-two word answers so finally gave up and sat in an uncomfortable silence for nearly two hours. She made some snide/sarcastic comments to some other stylists during my visit, but not a word to me. She did not even ask if I liked the color when she was done. The results were decent, I did not love it but did not hate it either. Phil did a fine job on my trim and he was friendly. The prices were very reasonable but I would have rather paid more to be treated nicely like a paying customer should. Overall the color/cut were fine but customer service poor. I am sure other stylists there are nicer but I will not be going back to find out. read more

I had a terrible experience this past Saturday. My first visit. Appointment at 12pm and I arrived 5 min earlier. But until 12:35pm still no one came for me. I asked the receptionist, and someone who I saw cleaning up the floors came to me said he will wash my hair to get me ready. He has a really heave hand and sharp nails, my scalp hurt until the next day, and he just can not adjust the water temp (it is boiling hot). After my hair finally washed, he let me sit there with wet hair and said someone will be w me shortly. I sat for around 15 min, now water running all over me. I finally went up to the receptionist again, and asked when is my turn. The same young man came back to me and said he will cut my hair. I was horrified and protested that I had an appointment with another person (a lady); and he confronted me with what is wrong with me doing it? and do you want to leave (I actually can not with all my wet hair). Eventually he backed down and another lady came up, cut my hair. It was about 2pm when I finally stepped out. I will never ever go back again. This is the worst I ever had at a hair salon. Not sure whether they just treat their new customer like this or what. Terrible. read more
