Avoid this place! Even though I have been a loyal patient, I was charged nearly $400 to put simple lenses in the frames that I provided.... More than double the price of nearby small private vendors. Large chain stores provide same service for under $100. I am a senior on a fixed budget. Several attempts for a partial refund were unsuccessful. First of all, they are very polite, professional and competent people running the office. The Dr. is top notch! I got my trifocals and they made me naucious while I was getting adjusted to them, that's not their fault. It's part of getting older and having to adjust to 3 kinds of vision in one pair of eyeglasses. After a few weeks of wearing them the nose piece was too tight and giving me headaches. I was intstucted to come in anytime to get them adjusted. So, I'm going in to today to get the nose piece adjusted at my convience. My husband and I have double vision coverage. My husband went in for an exam to get new contacts. After two weeks he still had not received them. He called and they did not place the order. Said they gave him samples to try(which they didnt). Then said using both our insurances is fraud. We will not be ordering his contacts with them. read more

1.Made an appointment fort the Optometrists. Optometrists last appointment is 3.30 p.m. Monday through Thursday They have only one doctor got to take time off of work. 2. took hour to put in order for glasses after chosen. 3. mix-ups in insurance 4 supposed to take two weeks to get glasses but took 5 weeks and 4 days needed glasses bad because they were broken. 5. When I originally went for eye exam that went ok. However, communication has been very poor. I've been back a couple of times trying to figure out prescription with a no resolution or working contacts. I tried a third time to see if we could find a good product for contacts and when I made appt I was told that I wouldn't be charged when I made the appt then called me 2 hours before appt to tell me I would be charged when I have not ever been able to get a prescription that works. paid for initial contact exam and still don't have contacts that work. First, the good: The new optometrist is pleasant, and probably competent. The bad: This is not a ding on Andover Optical, but rather on their landlord. There was not a fluorescent light fixture in the entire suite that had all of the bulbs working or matching in their light color. This is supposed to be a vision center. Shouldn't the lighting be at least halfway decent to give their patients' eyes at least a half of a chance to work? Now, the ugly: Andover Optical did an eye exam, and then quoted me between $400 and $800 for a pair of prescription UV blocking sunglasses! It is not a strong prescription. I asked if I could just get a copy of the prescription that WAS PAID FOR by my insurance. They told me absolutely not!. My insurance will not pay for another exam, so I went to a different optometrist, paid out of my pocket for the exam, and they had no trouble giving me a copy of the prescription. The total bill from the other optometrist, for the exam and two pair of sunglasses will total about half of the co-pay on the $400 pair that was offered to me at Andover Optical. I hate to have to leave such a negative review, but people need to know what to expect for this kind of place. I will not go back to Andover Optical, in Andover MN. read more

Definitely had a very pleasant experience compared to the other places I've been to. They were patient with me and explained everything to me that I didn't understand about my insurance. They even called to see what my benefits were. They scheduled me a contact lens class because I had forgotten how to wear them. Over all everyone was very kind! Add in- If you're considering getting glasses and don't have any coverage through insurance, go on their website they have 20% off. read more

I would say different about Andover Optical as I read this review and went there. My first experience was kind of edgy but the lady who was helping me was nice. Even though I felt that way I said to myself that it could just be a new environment for me and maybe I'll adjust to it as I just moved into the area. After my last visit I will not go there again as I was treated VERY unprofessionally. I called in if I can order my contact and she said I don't have a prescription until I go back in for a checkup. Since my last visit was in Feb. the lady who I spoke to over the phone said that normally they would charge me, but this time they won't and will go ahead and order me another pair of contacts as I have to wear them in to have it looked at before I can get my prescriptions. When I went in to pick up my lens, the lady in front acted as if I was invisible When I went in for my appointment and right before I left they stop me and said I had to pay. I said to them that I was told I wasn't going to be charged, but the ladies in the front was like, well whoever told you was wrong and that I had to pay or else not have a prescription. I said politely that I don't mind paying at all, but doesn't feel right that I was lied to. They just gave me an attitude like, " Well you have to pay or no prescription and then you can't order any contacts." The body language and facial expression wasn't nice at all. read more
