Unfortunately, I have to update my review. I have used PestRX for several years. They were…read morerecently taken over by Modern Pest Services out of Maine and my service is no where near the level it used to be. I am not sure if this is because of the acquisition or coincidence but the professional, passionate and knowledgeable exterminator (Dan) that used to come to my house no longer does. When I bought a new house a couple years ago the owner himself came out and did my termite inspection and we had a good conversation about pests and bugs! I no longer see Dan, the days of chatting with the owner are long gone and more importantly - my service has degraded. Specifically: 1. Yesterday I called because of a fungus fly infestation in my basement. I was told flies are not covered in my contract. I'm sure that's true (didn't even bother to check). I understand regular flies that can get in when doors open, etc. - but this was an isolated infestation that needed treatment - so even though I have a paid service contract - I needed to call ANOTHER EXTERMINATOR! 2. Dan used to apply my outdoor vector service (mosquitoes, fleas and tics). I work from home so I would watch him don his suit and go deep into my yards shrubbery spraying and strategically treating, with care, to wipe out my mosquito population. Today, I have a series of MUCH younger kids come and in under 5 minutes the walk the perimeter of my yard spraying, not thoroughly, and missing swatches of bushes and land with the clear goal of getting to the next job as quickly as possible. Showing up and parking your truck out front won't rid my yard of tics and mosquitoes but thoughtful and thoroughly application will. 3. I had an episode of mice. Long story short, I caught them all on the old fashion Victor spring traps while they put bait boxes around the outside of my yard, and a few inside. They also provide an inspection report and point out things like gaps in my garage doors, a side door open in my garage and suggest home improvements rather than trying to catch the mice. REALLY? The problem with the inside poison they use is mice can eat it, and then die in your walls where you won't see or find them! The people there still seem nice, but the service is nothing compared to what it used to be. I prepay my services (indoor AND outdoor contracts), and will allow them to expire and look elsewhere for a firm that still has the local, small town feel, employs professionals and actually cares about my business and the results of their service.

We are Westport residents and hired Pest RX to take care of field mice in our basement. Jason as…read morehis team of poorly trained technicians ( a revolving door) visited our home monthl, placing and removing traps in our basement and attic and around the periphery of our home. We have a bluestone patio where we had custom made cushions on our cast aluminum patio furniture. In drawing the field mice away from our home, Jason and his team neglected to tell us that they might seek refuge in the warm cushions. We called Jason several times to discuss the matter with no response. Finally, We held back a monthly payment to get his attention! We then got a letter advising us that we were being taken to collections. After calling several more times, Jason finally called back and told us that as per the contract he had no legal obligation to tell us that the field mice might head to our cushions. We guess he didn't feel any moral obligation either. To end the dilemma, we paid for his team to pick up the traps. And, after months, We're still being harassed by his collection agency. In our opinion, Jason lacks integrity. Simply put, don't use them!

John is an exceptional professional and absolutely wonderful human being. He will take care of you…read moreand he will take care of the animals. If you care about welfare and safety of the animals, John is the only professional you should trust with your case. I live far from New York City in a mountainous and wooded area, you could say I live in the woods. It is an area with a very high animal activity. Raccoons, opossum, skunks, groundhogs, foxes all roam freely here and they are here in abundance. I have a house that use to be a cabin and while half of it now has a basement the other half barely has a crawl space underneath. I had an issue under that half of the house. Many creatures have gotten under my deck and eventually into the crawl space. There was a family of skunks living there as well as a family of groundhogs, with other creatures visiting on and off. I was particularly worried about groundhogs because of their borrowing. Eventually constant digging that groundhogs do could bring a structure down. John has devised a plan on how to exclude the creatures and to protect my property from creatures getting back inside. John has also executed the plan successfully. My crawlspace is now free from its permanent residents and from unwanted visitors. Another important detail about my case is the fact that it started late fall and groundhogs tend to go into hibernation during winter. By the time John has secure the deck and the crawlspace under the house we were not sure if the groundhog(s) were still underneath and went into winter sleep. John agreed to leave the excluders over winter and come back in spring to conclude the job. Also refused to be paid in full before the job is complete. Remarkably the groundhog came out in March, it was sleeping all through the winter. One very important thing to know about the initial quote you get from John and the total price you will pay. While there will always, always, absolutely always be some other place, some other guy who will give you a lower estimate, John will be the right choice if you want the job done right. Mine was a large job and the cost was several thousand dollars and I am extremely happy I decided to agree to Johns plan and approach. Prior to John, I had another "trapper" offer his services, and has only gotten scammed. I should have done my research and read Yelp before hiring anyone. If you are still not convinced, check out this article on John from The New York Times https://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/08/nyregion/08raccoons.html
