Jim Phelps, our Moss Roofing Consultant, did the initial roof inspection for hailstorm damage. Then, he advocated for us on our insurance claim, working on our behalf and in person during the insurance company's inspection, to get the claim filed super-fast. And just like that, we had our installation date set up for a few weeks later. Jim was so helpful and knowledgeable every step of the way. He went above and beyond to answer my detailed questions and to address any concerns I had. He stopped by the house more than once to show us shingle samples, show us what algae does to roofs and explain different parts of the installation process. On installation day, the Moss Roofing crew started at 6 am to prep our windows and yard with protective materials and seamlessly worked until dark to install an impeccable new roof. They cleaned up everything perfectly, including using a magnet sweeper on our yard and our neighbor's yard to dispose of hidden nails. He also came by when the inspector came out to point out the issues he had seen. This was great service, and I appreciated that. Install day came, and they started working on the roof at 6AM in the morning (even though we were told work would not begin until 7 or 8). Obviously this woke everyone in the house up. The project manager came by about halfway through the job, and was there for only for about an hour and then left and was never seen again. This made communication very difficult. At the end of the day, the work crew left a lot of trash everywhere including a lot of nails on my driveway. But the roof looked fine overall. The reason for the 3 stars were a few issues, aside from what was written above: 1. They damaged and dented my gutters. James called a handyman to try and get it fixed, but they only made it worse because that was not their expertise. 2. They had installed one of the roof stacks incorrectly, and I had to call to get it corrected. 3. We had agreed to a certain price, and they backtracked on that a bit when it came time for payment. It wasn't much, but obviously was disappointing to deal with. Overall, there were some ups and some downs with the experience.

Old school values, fair pricing, and competence!…read moreMarch 2022 I had Southwestern Roofing and others bid on a large project to replace decayed wood and replace old, dilapidated siding with Hardy Plank, upgrade gutters to larger size, paint and caulk the outside of my 2-story house and rebuild damaged wood and siding around chimney to prevent rain leaking into that area. Southwestern was the only bidder who presented a professional folder stating all the services were available through them including manufacturer's' information for top grade material they used. It included BBB, Manufacturer's, and customer review letters -all were top notch rated for a business that has been active in our communities for decades. BBB was A+. (Other bidders were F's or unrated but with serious complaints of taking money and not completing work). They provided their in-house professional construction, gutter, painting, and general contractors assessments of damage and needed repairs for a one-page final estimate and were easy to work with details, suggestions, and options. All were pleasant, thorough, attentive, thoughtful, helpful, and extraordinarily accommodating. I felt safe when they were around with respect to me and my property. The construction began promptly on the appointed date and the teams worked tirelessly from early morning to late in the evening to complete all the work in a few days, stopping only to keep me informed of any needed changes or confirm open estimate items- items that could not be known beforehand but estimated prices were already on the estimate before work began. They all smiled frequently as they worked and seemed to really enjoy doing their work and pleasing the customer. The workers were friendly and if there was a language difficulty, they would quickly get another employee who could clarify the conversation to speak with me promptly. Before painting they power washed the whole house and driveway. Then painted first by spray and then a brushed and rolled on coat to assure good coverage. Again, the team was friendly, professional, and used quality products. They were happy to fix and or remove outdated items from the house. The painter cheerfully came back after it was completed to remove an overlooked item or two and to do some extra items we had agreed to after the initial plan. The gutter team was also prompt, professional and accomplished their installation quickly. They came back to address a small concern I had and adjusted the problem I had been concerned about. The best part for me personally was a door to the garage that stuck and was difficult to open all the time and no one had been able to fix it properly. Frank, the supervisor, personally fixed it so it opens and shut easily. It was a halleluiah! moment after years of suffering the inconvenience! I contracted with RCC, Roof Concepts and Construction, for a new roof on August 13, 2024. I am the…read moreproperty owner and I have waited 5 months before leaving a review, hoping Brian would do the right thing. On completion, the roof did not pass inspection by a licensed TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission) inspector on Agust 17, 2024. Also, during installation, it rained into my home even though the owner was alerted to a coming rain storm. He assured me the roof was completely sealed, but it wasn't and there were no tarps on site to cover the roof. Severel rooms in my home received damage from the water and the insulation in the attic was destroyed. Brian did repairs on September 20, 37 days after original installation, and again on September 20. On September 27, Brian finally went on roof to see for himself the job that we were complaining about. When he came down, he said "It is SO BAD I have to get another crew". He had never sent out an experienced roofing crew, just handymen, and repairs were not done correctly. The roof failed another inspection by licensed inspector on October 30, 2024. More repairs were done in November, and another inspection was done in December. There were still deficiencies. So after 5 months and 3 inspections, my roof is still not acceptable. Brian said my roof was completely sealed when I warned him of approaching rain storm. It was not and there were no tarps on site to cover roof. Said roof vents covered by insurance were replaced, but two independent roofers said they were not replaced, just painted over. Said they are committed to making things right and ensuring that I was completely satisfied with final outcome. Be sure to read both sides of their contract.

I'm Byron Davis, a retired professor emeritus at South Texas College of Law, Houston. My wife is also retired as a professor of political science. We bought our present house in 2015, in Carlton Woods Creekside. The builder was Croix Custom Homes. We are the second owners. We noticed immediately the house would not cool properly in Texas heat. After $25,000 we eliminated that issue. Within 6 months we had a major roof leak. The roof repair company told us the roof underlayment was not installed properly and leaks would continue, unless the roof tiles were removed, the underlayment was removed, and a proper underlayment was installed. I learned that the underlayment keeps the inside dry without leaks, and roof tiles protect the underlayment. We were skeptical, after all, we lived in an upscale neighborhood with a premium home builder. But, it was correct advice. Over the next 9-10 years we had multiple leaks. Again, the same advice. Replace the roof. In 2025 we decided to extend the master bedroom closet, and to replace the roof. i got several bids, Roof Concepts was the only company to recommend removing the existing concrete tiles, install the proper underlayment and reinstall the existing tiles. As Brian said, " the roof tiles are ok, let's replace the underlayment". This has been a difficult process. But Brian keep me informed every step. They have done an excellent job. Hold on...we're not finished. We also accepted their bid for an addition to a master bedroom closet. Again, the quality and commitment continues. We are not finished yet, but we are close.
