I am the architect who designed this cottage. It is a delightful space; I am really proud of it. I think you'll really enjoy staying here.

We stayed in the Captain & Lizzie McCall Suite. It is simply stunning. The king bed was wonderfully comfortable and the furniture and decor was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious chocolate chip cookies and milk too. Breakfast was yummy too and right on time. The coffee was strong and food arrived promptly (perhaps the bacon was a little dry- but otherwise very well executed). I appreciated their communication in the days approaching our stay. Everything was seamless, comfortable, and relaxing. Exactly as we expected. highly recommend!

It included an exquisite frittata, the best Waldorf salad I've ever tasted, cucumber & creme cheese sandwiches, scones with clotted creme & jam, macarons, chocolate-dipped juicy strawberries, & an array of delicious loose leaf tea steeped in four different teapots. The table was set beautifully with a heavy linen tablecloth and sterling flatware. The 1883 Victorian mansion has been exquisitely restored & filled with lovely antiques. The service we received was warm and considerate. The various two pots were kept refilled with hot water and fresh water was poured for those who wished. This was so exquisite that we intend to check out their Christmas tea as well.

This was the first…read morebed and breakfast I'd ever stayed at in my entire life (for the first time a few years ago) and I absolutely adore it! Don't even think about staying in Medford at a chain hotel or anywhere else in Ashland because the Bayberry Inn is the nicest bed and breakfast! Now if you're not feeling social, you can pay a tiny bit extra to have your breakfast served to you on a tray in your room. As a busy Mom, who seldom travels alone, when I come to Ashland I'm alone and getting my breakfast delivered to my room is AMAZING and the epitome of the ideal relaxing vacation having someone cook a gourmet meal for me and I get to eat it alone in my room! The breakfast is truly top notch delicious! I consider myself a 'foodie' who loves to eat and if the Bayberry Inn was a restaurant I would go there just for their breakfast - it's that good! Also, like I mentioned since I'm a female traveling alone I feel sooo safe staying at the Bayberry Inn as opposed to an impersonal hotel. The Bayberry Inn is located in the North part of Ashland and it is easily walkable to everything in town or there's plenty of free parking in the town you can drive too. The rooms are clean with all the comforts of home and they have personal AC and heater too to customize the room temperature to your comfort level which I appreciated! The owners, Jacqui and Billy, are super friendly and nice! They truly care about all their guests and want you have a fantastic stay. I will continue to stay at the Bayberry Inn every time I come to Ashland - which hopefully will be soon!

We've been to Ashland 3-4 times before, our First Son attended the college, which became a…read moreuniversity (when he graduated). And we've stayed in various places before, including one night with our son, as guests in his room. But, we're staying here, because he & his family, are staying here, for a meeting, so we decided as a family to gather together in Ashland for hubby's Diamond Year! We're staying for 3 nights, including breakfast. I should rate this hotel 3 stars, for the following reasons: 1. The minute we walked in, I noticed how small the room was! How small? You ask. When you bend down, to rinse your mouth, & spit on the sink, your butt hits the wall. 2. You hold the flusher for the toilet, about 15 seconds, for totally flush down. 3. Cleaning lady, opened our room, without knocking, after 8:00am. She probably thought we're downstairs having breakfast! She wasn't supposed to come clean or make up our bed, for the first 2 days. 4. Peep hole on the door, made for people 6'-7'. I'm 5'2" and it's past my head! 5. Headboard is noisy, when you move. 6. The desk chair creeks! The first time I was alone, and I sat on it, I thought, the room was haunted, or a squirrel was knocking on the roof. I'm not exaggerating! That's what the noise was, I didn't know it was from my chair, until hubby told me about it. 7. You give your breakfast ticket to the lady outside the door, and you take a plate & bowl back inside the room with food. The 2nd day, there was no protein, (bacon, no eggs, or sausage), the children had bread, potatoes, fruit. Hard boiled egg, they don't eat! 8. The juice glass or plastic, is about 3-4 sips, it's so small! If you want more, you have to bring your own container to get large serving, or frequently get up and refill your glass. 9. Breakfast, an additional $5, pay in the lobby. 10. Make up stain on the sheet. I'm giving this a 4 stars, for the following reasons: 1. The lobby, the garden, stained glass, wrought iron impressive! (Took lots of photos) 2. The stairs, & the elevator all conveniently located easy to find & access. Never crowded. 2. The tallest building in Ashland, you don't need a GPS, just look for the tallest building! 3. The 8th floor, (son's family room) they got the corner, is so much larger ours. My 2nd son and us, he's on the 8th floor, and us on the 4th floor, same street view. Our room is the smallest! :( 4. The chair by my bed, was comfortably soft. 5. Love all my pillows, covers, and towels. 6. Friendly staff. 7. Very very clean, including the rooms. 8. Convenient parking. 9. Views beautiful, mountains. 10. Room comfortable temperature. 11. Walking distance, up or down, and we're both old, (not used to walking but we did!) to many of the sights, restaurants, creeks, park, Japanese Garden, Lithium Park. 12. Additional Note from 2nd son #1: It was great that I could charge my car in their parking lot. That's very convenient! Extra Note from 2nd son: he could hear noise from the street, on the 8th floor. I didn't think we could hear anything from the street. Total: But I can't just give a 3 star or a 4 star, so it's really in between!

My husband and I were excitedly preparing…read morefor our "babymoon" in Ashland, when our cat of 14 years had a heart attack and had to be rushed to the emergency room and put on life support. (2 weeks later, she has begun to miraculously recover but is completely blind from the brain damage.) With great reluctance, we decided to cancel our trip - something I've never done before with a planned vacation. I emailed Alicia and asked whether she would consider partially refunding the cost of our stay (including $100 that we had paid in advance for breakfasts). She was completely unsympathetic to what has been the most heartbreaking situation in my adult life to date, cited needing to take care of her small business, and refused to refund us, even for the food we wouldn't be eating. Summer lodging in Ashland is incredibly busy and in high demand. I'm certain she was able to re-book at least some of those nights on extremely short notice. So Morical House doubled down on their revenue for those nights, and we incurred costs for a Bed & Breakfast (and extra costs for breakfast) at a place we wouldn't be using, on top of thousands of dollars of vet bills. Even our airline, with their rigid policies, was more forgiving than that. If we do make it up to Ashland later this summer, pre-baby, we won't be re-booking here.

In short, we have had wonderful experiences at Morical House over the past 5 years, and will likely…read morecontinue to make this our goto place to stay when visiting Ashland. Alicia runs a great B&B on grounds that is small enough to be considered cozy, but large enough that you aren't bumping into other guest all of the time. While everything is top-notch, I'd have to say that her welcoming nature and her outstanding breakfasts are what keep us coming back each year. She does some really inventive (and delicious) food pairings, and is more than happy to accommodate any food restrictions. As an example, this morning's breakfast started with fresh figs topped with blue cheese, toasted almonds and touch of thyme. We usually stay in one of the downstairs rooms in the separate structure near the rear of the property. They come with an incredibly spacious bathroom, fireplace, small kitchenette area, and a window bench to curl up in. There's wifi and a TV, if you need to stay in touch with the outside world. Or, if you prefer, there's usually a small selection of books to read, should you just want to have a reading adventure.
