The facilities are very basic, with the shop/chandlery seemingly randomly stocked, and the amenities (restrooms, shower) rather grim. The docks are in bad shape and quite rickety, mostly close inshore. That said, the staff have an outstanding reputation for doing the basics of keeping a boat in shape and a boat owner happy. I have heard two different stories of the staff doing rescue-tows and refusing even to be tipped for slip-owners. The boat yard is right next to the slips and the ramp (there is no winch, note) so if you have a small boat, want to go cheap, and convenient, this seems like a good option. The river location is between locks 7 and 8, more or less halfway between Freeman's Bridge and the Rexford Bridge.

Round Lake is a small lake in Saratoga County, New York that is located east of the village of Round Lake. It is a "kettle lake", formed at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation by a large block of ice left behind as the glacier melted. Most of the ownership around the 91-acre lake is private. This access provides the only public access on the lake. I have seen activities like fishing, rowing, boating, ice fishing, biking, racing to name a few.

The day after our sea trial we met Joseph for the hand-off and it was clear from the beginning that he was a pro. What we didn't know (since you couldn't tell from a quick visual inspection) was that the previous owner didn't take very good care of the trailer (faithful fresh water rinse after being in salt water). Within the fist 400 miles Joe had to replace 3 tires after the brakes overheated and blew the already dry rotten tires. In route, Joe kept me apprised, found replacement tires, changed them himself and even pulled the calipers on the front axel to keep them from overheating again. Every time we spoke he had a positive "no worries" attitude and kept on coming. We have a tricky maneuver to back the boat in it's new garage but Joe once again made it look easy. You just can't go wrong using Joseph to transport your precious cargo. And to top it off, he is a "believer". Praise God we made a new friend.
