Was thinking it would come with guac and pico like some other pics. It doesn't. I opted out of the $5 DOLAR UPGRADE to queso (...?). Thank goodness I did I can't imagine what that would've included. I am not kidding. It is just store bought chips that were dusted with some seasoning and then PACE SALSA in a cup. I bet the queso was that yellow stuff you buy in the can at a gas station. I get paying a premium at the airport but not if you're also going to cut corners this egregiously. Sad. Don't go here

The process has been simple: I call ahead of time and if they have what I want, it'll be waiting for me when I get there. I pay for the beer and they help me load it in the vehicle and I'm off. Tri-Boro is located in Astoria, along the BQE highway and in a semi-rural location of the hood. The setup almost looks like a gas station, except the place is loaded full of craft beers. There no doubt they have some of the best selection in the borough, if not the city. They have had a lot of popular brands as well as some obscure ones, many of which are not local to the NYC. They have beer via bottles / packages, as well as via kegs. Their prices are pretty good for what they have and ordering can actually be done online. Many of the kegs range from $150-300 and the staff is pretty good about helping folks get it setup properly. The only thing they don't have is a lot of international beers. I've had to look in other places for more bulk type stuff, but when it comes to craft beer, Tri-Boro is as reliable as they come.

There are at least two other wine stores within a minute or two walking distance that have a much friendlier and more welcoming appeal. Yet I managed to pick one of the worse ones. I'm not a fan of the bullet plastic protector windows. I'm not a fan of the chilled wine being inside of a mini fridge behind these protective shields, making it awkward when you want cold wine and not knowing whether I'm allowed back there or not to nervously pick out a barrel aged cabernet sauvignon and run out of the store as fast as possible. However, their prices are reasonable so I can't give it a two star rating.

See, I fly standby thus I rarely check my luggage. And because I don't check my lugguage, I'm limited to the 3 oz liquid rule for EVERYTHING. So all the local liquor/wine/beer I would like to bring home, I typically can't. And this place is like the answer to my prayer! I don't remember seeing this place in December when I came through LGA, and I couldn't find a listing on Yelp... so I'm guessing this may be a new establishment. They offer beer (by the bottle or pack), liquor & wine from NY. Domestic & International passengers welcome. It's not duty free, it's just a local flavor shop. They even have some snacks and jams and peanut butter etc. The liquor choices are unique (and pricey... the one beach plum gin I saw was over $60 a bottle). There were some affordable wine ($17-20 on the low end). But I was just wanting to bring home some beer. $3 each (12-oz glass bottle mostly, or a few can beer options) or $12-16 4-6 pack. That is quite reasonably priced in my opinion. I ended up with a can of Crisp & a can of Bronx Pale Ale. It's definitely a much better "souvenir" choice than a lousy tshirt.
