I'm originally from Shanghai, China, and xiaolongbao is my favorite dish. I've tried it everywhere, and this place has the best crab xiaolongbao in California.

A friend recommended this local XLB / Shanghainese restaurant located at Chino Hills, California. Please make sure to make reservation or you have to wait 20-30 minutes. The restaurant offers buns and Shanghai style cuisines and it is popular with locals. It is a modern Chinese restaurant. However, they have limited staff only two people managing the whole front of restaurant. They are friendly. We have a party of four with adults and 2 kids. We order crab XLB (juicy, soup inside, sweet, and yummy), pan fried crab & pork bun (juicy, soup, sweet, and tasty), deep fried salt & pepper pork tastes like pop corn chicken! And Shanghai shredded pork fried thick noodles is savory, sweet, and not too salty. Overall the food is good for Shanghai style dishes like XLB, buns, except for the fried salt and pepper pork is off.

If you're looking for tasty Shanghainese cuisine in the Chino area this one of the few options. It's located in a very random strip mall in the corner near Turner's Sporting Goods. So there is plenty of parking in the huge lot. The restaurant itself is a large size but for some reason they decided to close half of it. Likely from staff shortages, at least when we came here for lunch over the weekend. They do speak english for the non-mandarin speakers but it absolutely helps if you do speak native or bring your friend to help order. The menu is very classic Shanghai foods with popular XLB items and stir fry and large table dishes. If you don't know Shanghainese foods are sweeter in profile. Note the service here is not great as with many HK/Shanghai restaurants but it's almost expected you need to be aggressive to get any service. We got the pan fried pork baos. These were super delicious and one of the best in the SGV area for sure. The bottom is perfectly crispy without being burnt, and it's filled with super HOT juice so be careful with your first bite or the the juice WILL spray out and potentially burn yourself. The safe way is to bite a small hole and drain some of the juice into the soup spoon they gave you. Don't say you didn't get warned or sue them for burning your own mouth lol. The meat filling is well seasoned and pairs well with the black vinegar. The cold Shanghai style shredded chicken with house special chili sauce is a very classic side dish. The paired chili sauce is delicious with the good amount of sweet and savoriness of the soy. You do have the option of a spicy vs non spicy version. The boiled chicken is served ice cold and super tender. Yes the meat itself is only very lightly seasoned so you must use the dipping sauce. Yes you can pour the entire sauce onto the dish if you so desire too. The final dish we got was Kung Pao Chicken as a measurement of the chef. This version was very heavy on the diced white onion but very tasty. They do skimp abit on the chicken vs the veggie ratio. So overall the dish itself looks abit unbalanced since all you see is bell pepper/onions. Like where's the chicken? The sauce is tasty but just ok. They did finish it with a classic splash of black vinegar as you can taste it but just enough sweetness/soy. Overall a good place for a variety of Shanghai style foods or just to come for your XLB, pan fried baos. We will be back again to try other items.

Food was really good and the portions were decently sized. We left with a full belly! Our favorite item on the menu was the braised beef noodle! Very delicious especially when it's cold outside. The interior is a bit empty but the service was very quick and everyone was friendly!

I'm surprised that their food are pretty good. We ordered sheng jian bao, xie fen lao main, drunken chicken, xue li hong. They are all pretty good. Customer service are very good too. The servers are friendly and willing to help you. I recommend it.

When we entered the restaurant at around 12:30pm I was surprised to see many chairs still left upside down on a few tables. Kind of gives an off feeling that the restaurant is not ready for business. The few staff that are there are nice and friendly. The Pork XLB dumplings were excellent! I ordered a 2nd order as everyone enjoyed it. The Fatty pork with eggs was tasty, the dry noodle with green onions are also good, the sticky rice with shrimp Siomai is so-so. Their Beef fried rice is also so-so. Our first experience having a Shanghai dim sum cuisine. The restaurant is clean.

The service is very poor and there is no patience at all. I asked, "Can I check out here?" The waiter was impatient and told me to wait!

I grew up eating Hong Kong style dim sum so I am very picky with my dim sum. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who sat us at a table. There are about 10 tables inside to sit and eat there. You can also order for pickup. The restroom and restaurant is kept very clean. You order by scanning the QR code. They do have a good selection to choose from. We got the usual items like shumai (pork dumplings), har gar (shrimp dumplings), pork spareribs, chicken sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves, bbq pork buns, egg tarts, and I had to try the beef stew rice noodle soup. The server was very attentive to us while she took care of 4 other tables on her own. You do have to pay at store and not on the app when you're ready to checkout. The food came out fast and it tasted fresh. Portion size of the items are great. The bbq pork bun dough was a bit mushy to me. I like when the bun is fluffy and soft. The egg tart was perfect and not overcooked. The shumai and har gar was delicious and huge. The chicken sticky rice was very yummy . The spareribs were a bit fatty but had great flavor. The beef stew rice noodle soup was not my favorite. The beef stew was tender but it lacked flavor and the soup needed more flavor. Overall, we are happy we found a dim sum place that isn't too far from home and we don't have to drive down to OC or LA to eat. We will definitely come back if we have cravings for dim sum.

I wish there was a better way of seeing that list because I really had no clue and waited in line for nothing. The wait time honestly needs better attention. We probably waited around 20-25 minutes. It was very busy that day, and I'm not sure if it's because it's the weekend and/or due to Chinese New Year. Staff members are shuffling back and forth and are quite rude to be honest. I get that they are stressed running around, but still.... Anyways, we ordered the following via online (scan the QR Code on the table, that is probably better since they are too busy to take your order): - 1 shrimp siu mai (4 pieces) = $5.99 - 1 shrimp dumplings (we got 4 pieces instead of 3 per menu): $5.99 - 1 steamed BBQ pork buns (3 pieces) = $5.99 - 2 sticky rice wrapped with lotus leaf (4 total) = $13.98 - 1 yang chow fried rice = $15.99 - 1 seafood with pan fried crispy noodle = $17.99 SUBTOTAL = $65.93 TAX = $5.11 TOTAL = $71.04 ** Place $10 tip via cash ** We received our yang chow fried rice and crispy noodle timely, however it took a REALLY LONG TIME for us to receive the rest of the orders (the dim sum aka yum cha order); I had to ask the front how long the wait will be, otherwise we will cancel - the lady ended up checking and we got some of our orders. If I didn't ask, the wait time would be wayyyyy longer. Overall, we all enjoyed the food. Very authentic (Hong Kong Style). Management needs to improve and the wait time. Very small inside, this place needs to expand. There is another location in El Monte.
