This place is an absolute scam. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with rudeness and unprofessionalism. A young male who clearly is not a trained mechanic was running the shop and immediately greeted me with, "You'll get your car when you pay." He had no clue about my car issue, told me there was nothing wrong, and yet they still charged me $130. When I asked what they actually checked, he said the mechanic wasn't available and refused to explain anything. He then started writing a "report" himself, clearly with no experience, while being completely rude. When the owner came over, instead of clarifying or apologizing, he yelled at me, even though I was simply trying to understand what was checked for the $130 charge. I highly doubt any real work was done on my car. Avoid this place at all costs--unprofessional, dishonest, and rude. read more

This place and owner were awesome, thought my cars transmission went fretting about three thousand dollar repair - I took it from an other shop after meeting him, he immediately had it towed to his place on 501 b y the beach , he called me in an hour told me the axle had split like wow, but transmission was fine - thank God bill was only 450.00 . I took my 2005 Taurus to Ancot because the transmission was jumping into 2nd gear usually after about 15 miles of driving. Armondo explained to me what he could do, why this was probably happening, and quoted me a price that was very reasonable. I was not charged for the diagnostic which he performed. (Other shops quoted me $150- $180 just for that.) Four hours later Armondo called me and said my car was ready for pickup. All that was required was an oil and filter change. On April 9, 2024, my husband and I were on vacation in Myrtle Beach when our truck broke down. It had been work that our mechanic back home (in Ontario) had fixed prior to our trip. It all came undone! Our tow truck driver was incredible and after a suggestion from a very lovely local man, we were taken to Ancot Transmission. We explained the situation to the owner (I apologize to him because I cannot remember his name) and after waiting less than an hour, our truck was on a hoist and the problem was found. He then lent us his personal vehicle so that we could go back to our hotel and at least try to make something of our first vacation day! Within a few hours, we had our car back and were on our way. Knowing what we paid the first time to have the work fixed (at home), we were extremely worried about how much this was going to cost us. The price was very reasonable! We were still able to enjoy the rest of our trip! What started out to potentially be the worst experience ever (first trip in 14 years) turned out to be one of the most eye-opening and encouraging experiences! Southern hospitality truly is a real thing! We'd like to say thank you again to Ancot Transmission's owner for helping us out the way he did! We would not hesitate to return to Ancot should the need arise on our next trip to South Carolina...but we truly hope it doesn't! read more

Update- my car repair is still under warranty but has not been touched since 8/7/2023. The shop is now in breach of contract. No one has answered the phone in over a month. When we visit the shop we are told Denise has not been in the office in months. The mechanics do not know what is going on & there is a language barrier. As of 9/7/2023 the business phone has been disconnected. I will be filing a complaint with the state and taking legal action. read more

Denise tried to tell me that my entire transmission needed to be replaced, when it really only needed the shift solenoids replaced. Thank GOD I read Jeffrey R's review and followed my suspicions. A $4000 "estimate" from Ancot without even looking at it or accessing the codes, versus the actual $300 repair cost when I decided to take it to Anthony's. Do your own math. My cars transmission went out and I am new to Myrtle Beach area. I used to own a Auto Service center, so know what to look for and look out for in a shop. Called around for quotes and the second I talked to Denise at Ancott I knew I would take it there. Others quotes were vague on total. Denise gave me a firm quote for a total rebuild and stuck to it. Also come with a 2 year guarantee. The additional parts she recommended were parts I knew I needed. (Front axle, boot was ripped.) She only charged price of part. She told me it would take 1-2 days and it took 1 day. Had no problems with the car since, no leaks or slips. Highly recommend Ancot and Denise for any auto repairs. Denise is great to work with. She kept to the verbal estimate for transmission replacement on my S60 Volvo even after getting 2 bad units (she installed/test drive) from the suppliers. She came in special on Saturday so she could receive the 3rd transmission which worked great because she knew I was on a dead line. Absolutely horrible. Thank goodness i used a credit card and was able to get my money back. Denise talks a good game. The first thing that she will tell you is how fast they work and how they'll have your car done in one day. Well mine was there for approximately nine weeks, she even resorted to not answering my phone calls and having one of her friends talk to me. She was embarrassed and she had no real answers. Almost $2500 later, I got my vehicle back I knew something was wrong right away. she kept telling me that she would take a look at it and fix it again but she kept pushing me back telling me she was busy And to call back next week. this went on for a couple months. Finally I called my credit card company they put a hold on the money. I had to bring it to A different transmission shop to substantiate my claim & they did. They opened up my transmission & lo and behold they had not replaced anything. In fact they put my transmission back in with missing bolts, low on fluid, and a hammer strikes around some of the gears. She had claimed that she completely rebuild my transmission but hadn't done anything. And I mean absolutely nothing!!! Luckily I got my money back. I knew something was wrong when she used a square credit card reader and a smart phone To charge me. I'm guessing bigger credit card merchants have canceled her for a large amount of chargebacks. I would never go to the shop again. She ripped me off 100% and she knew it. She contested my credit card company's findings but ultimately I won because I was right and she was wrong. They did not rebuild my transmission, they did not replace ANY parts, they had no part numbers no receipts, nothing. If you take a chance and go there don't pay cash or by check you'll be sorry. At least using a credit card you have somebody in your corner. By the way, she charged me extra to use a credit card. Extremely dishonest. Extremely filthy, disgusting shop. I've never seen a shop so full of junk and garbage ever in my life. Completely unorganized. I've talked to many people in The area and they have had many similar problems with ancot. Denise runs the shop. Her people do a good job, and she is honest. I got fair price estimates, and she was tremendously helpful on exploring options available to us. I know why other recommended her to us . . . She is great. We need more business people like her. I was from New York State. She could have easily over quoted me, or not given me other suggestions. When was the last time a mechanic gave you a guaranteed "out the door" price? Okay, that happens from time to time, when the issue is apparent. But have you ever gotten that from a transmission shop? I have! The cost was about half what every other shop I called quoted. But the kicker was that all those other shops quoted X-dollars PLUS "hard parts." I knew damn well there would be some "hard parts" that needed to be replaced in this transmission. But Ancot told me, nope... it's going to be X-dollars no matter what. And, they delivered! I cannot recommend them highly enough. In fact, I have another vehicle with a transmission that's going bad and I'm going to follow my own recommendation. If you're in Myrtle Beach and have transmission problems, check them out. read more
