My experience with Anchors end tattoo was absolutely terrible from beginning to end. My experience was super impersonal, rude, unprofessional and felt as if I was interrupting Jesse's free time. When trying to explain MY vision for the tattoo he would just stare at his tablet with absolutely no feedback as if i wasn't even in the room. If you didn't like his design he would act upset and almost pout. once we finally came up with a mediocre game plan the day came for me to get my tattoo and it was the same treatment, it felt as if I was inconveniencing his day. He would play his loud music the entire time without even asking if it was to loud or if I would prefer something else. when I would ask him questions about the tattoo he would stay mute until I would have to ask the same question again only to receive a irritated response. employees were in and out of the room throughout the day to borrow supplies or needing Jesse's approval for some business related problem as Jesse is part owner of the shop. Jesses attitude problem and uncomfortable atmosphere continued throughout the entire 7 hour appointment and into the next appointment. upon completion of the sub par tattoo Jesse did not offer much advice for aftercare explaining it would all be in a Email that never came.Jesse's work does NOT match his top of the line price and very poor customer service. I would highly suggest a different shop. There are plenty of great Shops in the area of higher quality and better prices. read more

Judgmental and quick to ban you if they think you are creepy when you're just excited about the new piercing. Because of where mine are, one of the tattoo artists banned me from even a 2nd tattoo,after I had already spent $1200 there.This ban has sent not only myself but my wife, 3 daughters, and one son in law to a different shop with thousands of dollars worth of business. read more

Best tattoo experience I have ever had. I had a pretty complicated design I wanted done and needed someone with great line work. After browsing through their artists I made an appt with Matt Anderson. Best decision I have made. This is my eleventh piece but it is by far now my best. Along with a great sense of humor and taste in music, Matt did an excellent job of making sure my tattoo experience was safe and comfortable. They had signs up requiring masks and only those with appointments could come in, making me feel safe during the pandemic. The staff are all wonderfully hilarious and make you feel like part of the gang. I cant wait to save up and visit again! My tattoo came out better than I could have imagined. I had 4 artists tell me I should see someone else, 3 never responded to my inquiries and 1 just never showed up for the appointment. It felt like I'm trying to get in to an exclusive club but I'm not on the list. After being referred to 4 different artists, I did end up having part of my forearm done, but I just don't like how it turned out. Mainly because it was just sketched on the day of the appointment and I didn't really get the chance to think on how much I liked it. I got my first tattoo here. We scheduled same day and told him what we were getting on Facebook messenger. My boyfriend has several tattoos and I obviously had none, but they were equally as patient with us both. I had my tattoo stencil repositioned at least three times and the artist was more than happy to do it each time. They don't make you feel inferior if you need to ask questions or are anxious. I do wish they would have been some after are instructions but maybe they just assumed that because my boyfriend was tattoo experienced that he would relay them to me. On a referral from a friend, I went in to Anchor's End after booking a appointment with Billy and telling them I wanted a Koi half sleeve. I arrived at their shop, which is located on the 2nd floor of a neat old main street building in Hudson. Their shop is very clean, well lit and brightly painted. I was introduced to Billy who already had a very nice Koi design worked up. I brought in my own ideas, but his was far nicer, so that's what I went with. Being this was my first, Billy explaned the process thoroughly and didn't laugh when I winced with the needles. He was nice to talk to and did a nice job. It's reassuring to go through a process like this when you are comfortable with the artist. Aftercare was explained thoroughly and I'm thrilled with the result. I have gone here twice so far and both times i've had an awesome experience. i got my nose pierced by Mack a little over a year ago and she was amazing! she made sure it was in the exact spot i wanted and made it super easy. i just recently went again and got 2 tattoos by Killian. he did better than i could've imagined and i couldn't be happier with the outcome. both of them made conversation with me which made me feel super comfortable since i have social anxiety. overall, highly recommend and haven't had a bad experience with them! read more

My sister and I decided to get our first tattoos. We have had a couple of family members get tattooed with them, as my cousin is good friends with the owner. We made an appointment ahead of time, although we had to wait nearly a couple of hours past our appointment to get tattooed. This was okay, as I understand how being busy and getting behind can be. However, I also let the artist know that these would be our first tattoos, but we didn't get much in the way of going over our designs and placement. Instead, it was quite rushed and we felt we didn't get the time we needed to really consult and get EXACTLY what we wanted. While they offer lifetime touch ups and the artist said he would fix anything, I unfortunately live out of state and will probably pay someone else to get my tattoo the way I really want it. There's no doubt they have talented artists, but the service was not ideal. With these being our first tattoo as well as this place being a family recommendation, I would have expected much more consultation and consideration, and even guidance in the process. For instance, the tattoo was drawn much larger than I wanted and placed on me without even being asked how/where exactly I wanted. It was an easy enough fix, but I would suggest if they're in a rush because they're busy and you're trying to get some help with a tattoo you have to wear for a lifetime, maybe re-schedule so you can have a better experience. read more

Michael was very patient, and worked with me till I was satisfied with the design. I let him play with the colors and have free range over that, and he did an amazing job. I was told this place was "the best" but I can't really agree. First of all, I was barely greeted when I got there with anything but, "what do you need today?". Not a hello, not a smile. I felt rushed in picking out the font for my tattoo and thought it was strange there are no examples of their work up around the shop. I was never told they have an $80 minimum... Not when I made the appointment or when I got there. My tattoos were rushed and very quick; not even 15 min. Had I known I would be charged $80 for them I would have asked him to do another tattoo for me too. I don't think I would go back or recommend them. read more

First tattoos in almost fifteen years. The shop is great! It's clean, the artists are pleasant, and they do really solid work. I live in the West Metro so it's a bit of a hike but worth it. Jon worked through a consultation with me back in December (free of charge and with a lot of enthusiasm) and set me up with two consecutive Saturday appointments. Between December and late January Jon and I sent texts back and forth and worked through his initial sketches, my notes, and his edits. The work he did was really spectacular and hanging in the shop for two Saturdays in a row it's clear that the artists all take an active interest in each other's work. If you want a tattoo anywhere near the St. Croix Valley area, go here!! The shop is really clean and seems sanitary, which put me at ease. A lot of tattoo parlors are pretty dark and it almost seems like you're walking into a cave. Not here! They always make you feel welcome and they have a great staff that listens to what you want and make you feel like you're their number one priority, even when they're busy! Their piercer is always knowledgeable and polite and easy to talk to, he makes the whole experience really comfortable and laid back. My fiance has gotten all of his tattoos done here, I've recommended this place to all of my friends and family, and it's always been a really great experience. They treat you like a tattoo parlor should, not like you're just an appointment, they understand that what you're walking out with is permanent and they stand by all their work. Their portraits are great, their linework is sublime, and the color they do seems to stand above rest. They go above and beyond. Had 3 tattoos done here by Aaron, and I feel like they turned out pretty well. I won't be going back, however, as the last time I set up an appointment the artist was late and offered very little along the lines of apologies. He also seemed more interested in chatting with the other artist than he did with getting things rolling, but come time to pay expected to be paid for chat time and even the time he was late getting in for the appointment (charged for 3 hours when I barely got 2 1/2 in reality). My 3 youngest daughters designed a tattoo for each to get on their birthdays.The twins got their's done back in January but their older sister wanted to wait. Both were done for $80 with a lifetime touchup included. Fast forward to this week- the older daughter went to a different shop, in Woodbury, to get her's done as she didn't want to wait for an appointment. After sitting in the chair for 15 minutes and receiving the exact same tattoo from said other shop she was told $120 and after paying that it was implied that the artist should get a tip. Moral of the story is that all shops are different but Anchors is a notch above the rest. It is worth the time to wait for an appointment here and even though I have 13 tats from other shops my next one will be here because of the way they treated my twin daughters. Unfortunately after hearing raves for reviews I had the worst tattoo experience at Anchor's End with Erin that left my wallet empty and me in tears... After a long and drawn out consultation due to him forgetting to bring my tattoo design to our scheduled appointment we finally set a date, red flag! The day of, I arrived 15 minutes early to sit there and wait for over an HOUR after my start time due to Erin not wanting to use another artists chair because his was being used. Really, I sat and waited listening to him laugh with his friends as I watched the time pass. Finally, we started but he literally got up about 5 minutes later to talk to another client that was getting a tattoo. My patience was thin and then suddenly a woman appeared for her appointment with Erin, yup he double-booked!!! He told me he forgot about it but it would only take about 15 minutes. Yeah right, it took almost 50 minutes, I timed it! If I could have walked out then I would have but I just wanted it finished. When we got started again you would have thought his behavior would have been apologetic as he f*ed up how many times and left me waiting for how long and then the unthinkable happened... He had someone pick up his dog during our appointment and bring the dog to the studio but leave him in his truck with the windows down. Suddenly I was being told, "Well, I gotta be done, I mean my dog's in my truck waiting." Really... I freaked out inside, when I had been left waiting for how long, how many times, and when there was only about an hour left and I was promised it would get done in one session! There should have never been an issue just like the other incidents, how unprofessional! Out of 5 different tattoo studios this one had the POOREST customer service I've EVER had! To end the story he even charged me $100 bucks more than he estimated and it wasn't even done. He wouldn't let me use my down deposit either. I made another appointment just so I could get out of there as fast as possible and called the very next day to cancel and get my deposit back. Their online policy said if canceled at least 48hrs before an appointment you get your deposit back but I never got it back. I emailed Erin about it and he denied anything unprofessional happened during my appointment and refused to refund me. I say KEEP IT A**HOLE. Was the tattoo good, yeah but nobody deserves to be treated like that, especially from the owner!!! read more

I love this shop! I had a bad experience at another shop and immediately went to this shop to see the tattoo I just got could be touched up. I set up an appointment and left feeling 100% better than I did before I walked in. 3 weeks later and they touched it up perfectly for me. I also got another while I was there! The shop is so beautiful and clean! Every single one of the staff members is so friendly and they honestly care about their customers. They make sure you arrive feeling good and leave feeling happy.
