I mean, what can I say. This was hands down the most amazing YOLO nature trip I've booked. A small, family run service. No feeling of "you're just a number" tourist here! The plane is safe, and ride was smooth as glass. Such an amazing time in the air. THEN on the ground...the bears! Omg..this is no zoo, this is real life! These bears will literally be 10ft from you. We used Anchorage Aero for a trip to Katmai National Park and Preserve to see the Bears feed on Salmon at Brook Falls on Sunday August 1, 2021. What an experience, the trip was fantastic, Sean the pilot/owner was amazing he was so knowledgeable not only on the Park, but also commenting on the sights on the way there. Wow!!! Way to make memories!! Our flight with Fly Katmai/ Anchorageaero could not have been better! We had a great flight and an amazing visit to Brooks Camp. All the arrangements were taken care of professionally and efficiently. Communications were easy. The day of our flight we were treated well and with generosity and friendliness that marks a well run business. Our pilot, David, was excellent and I can't tell you how excited I was to go in a float plane. It was clean, comfortable, safe and gave us great views out the windows. The pilot was easy going about most everything, but very serious about our safety and flying. I instantly respected his professionalism. Brooks Camp is incredible. We had the perfect visit. We saw so many bears and met really great people who were also having the time of their lives. We missed the crowds and could soak up all the experiences of being pretty doggone close to bears who were just being bears. We saw lots of fishing, wrastling, and moms teaching young ones. Great rangers and precautions for both us and the bears. On our flight back we flew over beaver dammed lakes, glaciers, mysteriously brilliant lakes, volcanic islands, rugged coastline, and tundra. Thanks for helping us spot the caribou! I wholeheartedly recommend this trip, and specifically Katmai Air to anyone searching for a wonderful adventure of a lifetime. read more

This trip was so much better than we thought it could be! We would give it a 10 out of 5. The hanger was clean and they had coffee, tea and snacks for passengers. Nice bathroom also. Dave was our pilot and he is super experienced with years of flying. He has lots of knowledge of the area and Alaska. We felt very safe on the plane. Quick 2 hour flight and when we arrived there was a mom and 3 babies right there at the beach. September is a great time to go as it is not as populated with tourists. We were able to get to all the viewing platforms and stay on them as long as we wanted. There were not as many bears at the falls as earlier in the summer when the fish are running but the river was loaded with fish and bears. Got to see them on the beach as well as swimming in lake. So fun to see them catch and eat the fish right next to you. It is crazy to see all the fishermen out there with the bears. The trout fishing is said to be amazing. The lunch was good and there is a really nice fireplace in the Brooks lodge. On the way back Dave gave us great sightseeing. We saw more bears, caribou and incredible scenery. Got to land in Lake Hood and taxied back to the hanger. Other passengers we were with said it was way better than they thought it would be. Highly recommend Anchorage Aero Katmai trip for anyone who wants to see bears and the real Alaska. We were both born in Alaska and have lived here many years and currently enjoy retirement here. If I could give them ten stars I would. I was very nervous going in a small plane for the first time, but this was wonderful. The flights were smooth and the entire day was great. Our flight took off late due to the weather, but they made sure we had enough time to see the bears at Brooks Falls. The owners are extremely nice and friendly. They also have a plane that can go directly to Katmai, many of the other places fly you to king Salmon so you have to change to a float plane. Anchorage Aero has the float plane in anchorage and goes directly to Brooks Falls. I highly recommend them. read more

We really wanted to go on a trip out to Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park, but didn't know where to begin the journey. We did some research online but were overwhelmed with options, each with more expensive options for the same trip. After giving up and thinking that it wasn't going to happen for us, we met some locals who were going on a trip in a few days with Anchorage Aero/Fly Katmai, and that they were a great Alaskan-owned business with a history-family connection to the Brooks Falls area. We called and made an easy reservation with Alisa, and were surprised that they had 2 more spaces for us, and even gave a small discount for us as residents during the Covid fiasco. BEST DECISION EVER! It was a bit pricier than a typical Alaska adventure, but worth every penny. We took a fast plane out to King Salmon airport, then a float plane out to Brooks Falls. As we disembarked, we had to shoo a bear away from our plane, and then had another bear, run out of the woods straight to the beach 10 feet from us, as a welcoming committee, to begin the day. You can do your research on Brooks Falls and will see how wonderful that experience can be. We personally ran into BEAR 747 on the trail, and had to get out of his way as he passed 7 feet from us. Lets just say that my wife and I have a story to tell for a very long time. That was an amazing part of the trip, but the flight there was also great. The pilot/owner grew up in Alaska and spent his childhood at Brooks Falls as his grandfather was a big part of its inception/building/growth. He has been flying for 30+ years and has local knowledge about every nook and cranny along the route. The trip out is fast, so that you can arrive early to the park before the rest of the operators arrive, and maximize your time with the bears. They will soon have the capacity to fly float planes directly to the park, even when the weather and clouds keep others at home. We took off with a view of Denali and then flew over volcanoes, peaks, and lakes that are breathtaking. The plane is a safe, fast, smooth ride typical of Alaskan aviation. The owner is a great guide and pilot that enhanced our adventure. On our return, we flew a more scenic route, if thats even possible, that took us by McNeil Falls/River where we saw an additional 37 bears lined up fishing on the falls. Smooth landings, easy booking, and great experience made this trip the highlight of our Alaskan Adventure. I highly recommend the trip! read more
