Mostly because the Best of Denali & Kenai Fjords Tour 120 offered a variety of activities and things we wanted to do. It was an even bigger bonus to find out that we could make alterations to further enhance our tour. Even with those alterations, they were able to put the journey together in a seamless manner, leaving us to just enjoy Alaska without the worry of how we were going to get from one destination or excursion to the next. The owner, Russ, was very accommodating and set me up for a tour starting only two hours later. Eventually the group grew to three people and Russ picked us up at the Hilton promptly at 11. This was exactly what I was looking for. I spent a very enjoyable four hours with Russ, who grew up in Alaska and who knows the state backwards and forwards. Russ has a great deal of civic pride as well! Russ gave us a comprehensive look at the after-effects of the big earthquake during the 60s, where entire homes were moved up to two or three city blocks! The ground shifted so much it made a once perfectly flat neighborhood into a neighborhood with lots of hills! Russ has a sharp eye for wildlife, and besides mountain goats and sheep, we actually got to see a moose! Ross absolutely loves his home state, and you will learn a lot driving around with him. And have a pretty good time doing it, as well!

My fiancé and I had an unbelievable time!! Mark Miller and his staff gave us the best Alaskan experience anyone could ever ask for! First off.. the only way to get there is by Bush plane from the Anchorage airport. We were picked up and flown to the beautiful and quite Talaheim lodge. Once we landed we were given a tour of the grounds, which are beautiful and we were taken to our cabin. My fiancé and I had our own two story cabin with running water, electricity and a fireplace. It was perfect! During our vacation at the lodge we went on fishing excursions with our very own guide (who made us a great lunch), we went heli-hiking to Beluga Mountains, we took a helicopter to a glacier, we read, relaxed, had the BEST food and heard the most amazing stories that were told by the owner, Mark Miller. Everything they promise on their website is that much and more. We were greeted by the staff upon arrival by plane, and shown our accommodations. We loved our cabin next to the lodge and it was the perfect comfy cozy room to come home to after a long day on the water. The food was amazing! The guides all knowledgeable, the sights seen from a helicopter priceless including a HUGE grizzly on a ridge, 3 black wolves and bull moose grazing. It is hard to not repeat the previous reviewer but add instead. Both my husband and I are experience flyfishers and the fishing was smokin' hot! We used streamers, egg and mouse patterns, droppers, poppers and dries when needed. We lost count of fish count within the first hour or two. They are measured by pounds not by inches. Silvers, Dollies, Pinks, 'Bows, on and on......Since this is a small lodge, you became friendly with the other guests and staff pretty quick. A fun group. I appreciated the snacks and drinks in the mini fridge that was refreshed daily as well as the Alaska Ale on tap and wine after a long rewarding day out. We arranged our wedding with these guys to get married on Knik glacier, just outside of Palmer, AK. Our party was a total of 11 people (including us & photographer). We used two separate helicopters; 1 dedicated for my husband, myself, and our photographer, and the other helicopter shuttled two different loads of 4 people to the landing location to meet us there. After the ceremony, our party of 8 flew back to where we originally took off in Palmer, AK, while my husband, myself, & our photographer did additional landings nearby. Our party took the limo back to Anchorage, and my husband and I ended up taking the helicopter back to Anchorage to meet everyone for dinner. First off, Jarius was AMAZING and unbelievably helpful & patient with answering each and every stupid and petty question I had. He helped us plan everything to the last final detail, and was just a real pleasure to work with. Both of the pilots that flew that day (Jarius & Josiah) were the best, and really went above and beyond to make our day special. They picked a GORGEOUS location for the ceremony, right where two blue glacial rivers met and big green luscious hills nearby in the background. On the way back, Jairus landed the helicopter in a glacial pool and did a cool fly by when my husband and I were standing on the edge of the hill. Josiah was awesome, and was picking out cool & scenic areas for my husband and I to check out while we were exploring on the mountain. The people that work at Tanalian are really what makes that business so special. They are truly good hearted & go above and beyond to bring out the best.
