Two years ago I went to Anna veterinary Hospital with my 16-year-old dog who was in pain. I asked for Rimadyl for his arthritis and what could possibly have been cancer. I paid over $700 for tests which were inconclusive and they still refused to give me Rimadyl or any pain medication. They wanted more money for more tests. When I challenged the Vet about this, she said that I didn't come in there originally for his pain, which was not true, My dog died in pain because of Analy veterinary hospital. They could have made his last days more comfortable but instead he died crying in pain in my arms. I will never go there again I'm still bitter that they were so horrible about my dog's pain. Can't say enough good things about Analy Veterinary and Dr Cloninger. They have provided excellent quality care of my two dogs and cat and are always thorough and kind in their approach. The desk staff is also wonderful and attentive and helpful. I was so nervous for my older dog to get dental surgery but had a great experience and she is recovering wonderfully. Excellent staff. Excellent care. I had a scare with my 5yr old English Bulldog, Jameson. I woke up to him bleeding from the neck. At the time , we were in Occidental but I called my vet in Petaluma and because my dog was actively bleeding , they advised me to take my Jameson to the ER Vet in Petaluma. I called the ER to let them know we were coming and they told there us a 4 hour wait. So I started driving to Petaluma and remembered I had just interviewed with Analy Sebastopol Veterinarian the week before and that they were only shot 2.5 miles away. I called them but there seemed to issues with the phones so I just drove there. In a panic and crying, I walked into the office and asked if someone could please look at my dog and that he was bleeding. A tech quickly accessed him and took us to a room. Turns out my Jameson had scratched a skin tag and because we are new to the POLLEN they gave him some meds to help with scratching and took care of his wound. Prescribing 3 times the recommended amount not only hurts the animal, but also, obviously, the owner. For as many years as Jessica Baldwin has been a veterinarian, you'd think she would know the dangers of overdosing. And that she would know what Not to give a cat in acute kidney failure. She also shows only a passing interest in the animal. Definitely took that career for the income, not to care for animals. I think she couldn't care less, actually. Just a heads up. I wouldn't bring Trumps pet to her. Or Hitlers. Or Satans. If Someone doesn't really care about the outcome and only cares about the income, only the animal and their family gets hurt. Analy Veterinary remains the best! Our dog Pia, who didn't realize foxtail season is officially over by Fall, got a big one up her nostril, on a Saturday afternoon no less. Analy was two minutes from closing and Monday was already mostly scheduled, but staff promised to try getting her in on Monday. At 7:45 Monday morning I got a call to bring Pia in for foxtail removal by Dr. Baldwin, her usual vet. This hospital's ability and willingness to remove foxtails from certain dogs under sedation, rather than full anesthesia, saves a fortune for their humans and seems much easier on the animal. As usual, the vets and staff here are highly capable, well-informed, responsive and caring; moderate fee structure is another big plus. read more

Disclaimer: This review, in entirety, speaks directly to the reception staffing the incoming calls at Analy Vet. As a medical professional myself, in the human realm, I was aghast at the lack of professionalism and focus when I called to inquire about appointment availability as well as to inquire about the presence or absence of social distance related protocols and appointments they do or do not have in place. When I attempted to outline our situation and inquire how they might be able to assist us and inquire if infact they had appropriate social distancing measures in place (our city and farm vets are on the east coast near our properties in those states but we are currently on the west coast property due to Covid-19 lock down and our own familial immuno compromised risks associated with travel at this time prevent us from traveling anytime soon), as well as to explain the suffering and manifesting symptoms of one of our hounds; the individual with whom we spoke was dismissive and rude. She cut me off when I attempted to elaborate with respect to his (our beauitful lab-pyrenees boy) manifesting symptoms, offered no compassion, only saying that their next appointment was many days away. When I asked her a 2nd time (one would hope a medical facility, would preface their introductory calls with their current Covid-19 protocols in place as we must do in human medicine and as many non medical facilities and companies across this great nation are doing) to address my question regarding social distance safety protocols she vaguely mumbled, " we do have some in place," to which I had to then ask her to further elaborate. She did not. She rudely restated they only had availability on Monday as if to rush us off the phone. What a disastrously unprofessional intake call. I would be embarrassed if my staff responded with such a high level of callousness and unprofessionalism. For this reason alone, and as we believe in team work and that all members of a medical support team (doctors, nurses, emts, receptionists, janitors) are equal and must thus all equally strive to an equally as excellent and present job to ensure all patients human and non, receive the care they deserve; we will seek assistance, advice, support and professionalism elsewhere. It is my humble experience that if one or more members of a team are unprofessional this is often an indication of systemic unprofessionalism within any practice. But, I will not presume anything or hope otherwise. A true shame in a time when all who walk this great nations must come together in all medical and non medical practices to support our fellow citizens. Again, to be clear, this a review of the reception and incoming portion of a larger medical business which does not in any way lessen the validity of the review and which also speaks to a larger need for perhaps a more cohesive, present, friendly, personable, patient and aware individual tasked with the very crucial job of receiving incoming calls and chanelling them appropriately. This does not speak to the presence or absence of medical competency and compassion of the veterinarians on staff, but instead speaks to equally as crucial members of any and all medical support teams, in this particular interest to the individual taking incoming calls who fell far short of professionalism and seemed devoid of empathy and patience. As such, we are reviewing one portion of the staff that work at this business in accordance with our own small business belief that every member of all medical teams are equal and thus equally responsible for a positive and kind patient experience. Here's to hoping for a kinder, more professional experience elsewhere. Perhaps she was having a bad day, we all have bad days but there is no excuse for unprofessionalism nor space for it in today's world full of need for more love and morw compassion. I selected Analy Veterinary Hospital after searching for highly rated local vets and reading the reviews. I was not disappointed. This was my first visit to a new vet in almost 30 years, but I was no longer able to get appointments with my previous vet, and if I left a message, I received no callback. Although it was a difficult decision to make, I went elsewhere. (I offer this context--without naming my previous vet because they have served me well for many years--to give some idea of my high hopes that the new vet would fulfill my expectations for quality veterinary care and frankly, customer service.) Analy was able to see me the following day, and I was greeted and seen by the vet tech within minutes of my arrival. Moreover, the veterinarian, Dr. Shannon Cloninger, was prompt but thorough and never made me feel hurried. Moreover, she personally called me a couple of days later to check in and make sure I had no further questions, and I received a reminder call the day after my appointment to bring in my dog's sample for analysis since they were unable to collect it during the appointment. It is gratifying to know that it is still possible to find great veterinary care and customer service from a local business that cares about its clients and their pets. (Actually, my pets are the clients; I just pay the bills and provide occasional chauffeur services.) The norm these days, at least in our area, is reduced staffing (not always their fault) and long wait times--for getting an appointment and seeing the provider at the scheduled time. Analy Vet is the exception to what unfortunately seems to be the rule these days. I highly recommend them, and I'm sure their other clients (both two-legged and four-legged) would agree. Bonus points for the following: (1) four veterinarians on staff; (2) open Saturdays--and not just for a half day; (3) nice little grassy fenced backyard for walkies and doing one's business (dogs and cats only); (4) convenient location and plenty of parking; (5) communication--they answer their phones and don't put you on hold. read more

I'm so impressed with their competency and patience both over the phone and in person. Due to Covid, they're still doing curbside pick up, so I can't imagine how great the services in person! Omg! Unbeknownst to us, on a walk, our golden doodle ate some THC in Jenner (really, it wasn't ours!). He began having neurological symptoms after an hour. I can not express how grateful and thankful I am to have found Analy Veterinary Hospital. I trust them (and the entire staff) 110% !!!!!! I used to bring my Min Pin to another vet hospital after I adopted him as a puppy at 3 mos old. He developed a skin issue when he was 6 mos old. The current vet I was seeing (I won't say where) diagnosed him and said he had "food allergies". The Dr said, he said he was just at a food allergy seminar and he was 100% he has food allergies. I have to change his food. It will take a couple of months to see a change.....blahhh....blahhh....blahhh. I switched his food and his skin problems only got worse. I decided to track down Dr. Jessica Baldwin, as we once worked in a facility somewhere prior together. I brought my little Hudson in to get a second opinion. And she said, "It looks suspicious. Let's culture it and send it off to the lab." I get a phone call after his results came in. And he had a Bacterial Staph skin infection. Yes, a Staph infection that was misdiagnosed as food allergies. I have been going to Analy ever since and that was back in 2009 (6 years ago). I honestly couldn't imagine going anywhere else. The entire staff is loving, friendly, compassionate, calm, willing to help, considerate, conservative, open-minded, helpful, honest, organized, caring, gentle and wonderful with my pets, listen to what you say and the list goes on and on!!!!! They are very conservative and don't nickel and dime you to death like other hospitals try and rack up a bill with this, that and the other. Our first visit was fine with a proper dx and recommendation to remove 2 soft tissue growths. When I received the call in the parking lot (covid protocols) to discuss the findings, they started by reading from the wrong dogs' chart. The surgery was fine and instructions delivered appropriately. The return for suture removal was okay, however we differed in opinion as to whether the sutures were ready to be removed and on the presents of an infection at one of the surgical sites. Having been raised on a dairy and stitching cows teats and other body parts, I did not see evidence of infection when the dog was delivered to me in the parking lot. Nor did I give the dog any of the antibiotics that I had to purchase that day, but fair enough, I was willing to acquiesce to the Dr. of VM. to the opinion. The final visit is the one that is simply unacceptable. We brought the dog in again for suture removal. The dog was delivered to us in the parking lot. That day we went out of town in a hurry and upon our return realized that the sutures on the incision on the hip were removed, however, the sutures on the back of the leg were missed and not removed. This is an egregious failure to perform! The covid situation and not being able to be in the exam/treatment room with the Vet is problematic, but is no excuse for this to happen. The covid situation simply means that you have to up your game and be better at paying attention to details and communications. Any thing less is unacceptable. I removed the sutures from the back of the leg so all is fine. We stopped bringing our dogs to Analy due to overall performance of the staff but due to bleeding from the growth they were the only ones that could deal with the dog in a timely manner. We gave them another chance, but to that end, we will avoid bringing our dogs to this clinic in the future. read more

In addition to bringing our cat in to Analy Vet for his annual checkups and shots, we've also brought in some of our chickens at various times. Being first-time chicken owners (we inherited a flock of 6 hens), we are learning and reading as much as we can about maintaining a healthy flock. On the occasions that we've had to bring in some of our hens (once for de-worming and another time for an illness) we've been *extremely* grateful and very satisfied with the care, treatment, clear communication and *helpful advice* that Dr. Jessica Baldwin has provided us. We just moved to Sebastopol a few months ago and of course, wanted to find a good vet for our Cane Corsos and Lowchen. I wanted a vet similar to our vet in the city that blended holistic and western medicine. I found Analy after reading yelp and calling a few places. Our first visit was great with our big scared boy. The vet, Dr Visser and her staff took their time letting Jack get to know them and the vet took her time explaining everything and not rushing through the appointment. Fast forward to today: Our big, scared of the vet boy has a partial urinary blockage. They get us in within 2 hours of calling, they are caring and not judgmental when I said we were a little cash poor this week. His urinary blockages have cost us upwards of $1500 and I was totally worried that we would be faced with another giant bill. The vet worked within our budget and gave Jack Jack the best care. The price was significantly less than we've ever paid for an emergency lol However that's not what truly solidified how awesome they are. You walk in and Shayla and Linda, the receptionists, already know your name and your dog's name. You can mention future appointments and they know what you're talking about, without even looking it up (I don't know how they remember those things). Shayla also offered to help submit a claim with our dog's insurance company and try to get us reimbursed for a past visit at our previous vet and this current visit. She also recommended applying for Care Credit, which I was hesitant to try because I thought I'd get denied, however I was approved and it really helped us budget much better. A noral vet would just let you sit in the waiting room worrying about your beloved dog without more than a smile. Shayla went out of her way to offer services and solutions so I could not be so stressed about the entire situation. These people truly CARE about your animals and you! Its just amazing and I am SO grateful that they are here and I found them. read more

After eight years going to the vet, I can strongly say that you should go somewhere else. They are short staffed and are fine at giving flea medicine, but forget actual veterinary care. They simply cannot see their patients timely and when you do get an appointment, they have to try to move it for staffing issues. NOT RELIABLE. read more

Friend had dog being boarded at Analy Vet Hospital while on road trip. Called me from Washington Wednesday August19 saying they had just called him and they were being evacuated due to fire up at Austin creek and he needed to place the dog either with friend or at facility they had lined up. I contacted Analy and was told they wanted me to transport the dog to the evacuation facility. Was told paperwork was ready so I responded. Upon arriving 30 minutes later observed vehicle double parked in front of entrance. I got a leash and approached the front door which had signs saying stop. I partially opened the door and informed the counter lady I was there to pick up Honey. She yelled at me to get out of the doorway and wait outside which I did. It was about 95 degrees and a little uncomfortable. The lady in front was conversing with the counter lady on her car phone and I could hear the conversation. The conversation was regarding a drug prescription and setting up an appointment. It took approximately 15 minutes to complete these tasks.The counter lady then exited the building with a small bag in her hand taking it to the lady in the car she had been talking to. I said , I'm here to pick up Honey to remind her of who I was. She snapped at me that she was the only one working and to wait. I said I am waiting I just want to pick up the dog and take it where you want me too. I'm helping you guys so you don't have to. While I had been waiting I had observed four to five cars in the covered carport and watched a young lady employee enter the building. I said I'm not here to argue I just want to pick up the dog. The counter lady(middle aged woman with dyed purplish hair) continued telling me how overwhelmed she was and only person working. I told her I didn't want to talk about it just get the dog. After several back and forths she finally entered the lobby. I though good she's going to get the dog.She then stopped and turned around and came back out to again yell at me. I kept repeating I am not here to talk about it I just want to pick up the dog. I am doing you guys a favor. As she kept talking I kept replying Quit talking and get the dog.Get it done get it done. After awhile she finally went back in. I thought good finally I'll get the dog. I have now been there approaching 40 minutes while awaiting the dog. Guess what instead of getting the dog so I could leave she had gone and talked to the Vet Dr. Alexander who eventually came out and said I had upset her employee. I told her all I was there was to pick up the dog to assist them and the employee wanted to talk and talk and talk about how busy she was, how I needed to wait etc. I told her I did not care that she was upset. I just wanted the dog so I could leave as I had another appointment. After some more back and forth Dr. Alexander decided they would keep the dog and transport it themselves. ( Kind of their job anyhow) As I was leaving Dr Alexander told me how stressful it was to which I replied a fire 25 miles away, Lady you guys would not know real stress if it bit you. All you want to do is talk talk talk and not get it done.After I left I contacted my friend in Washington to inform him they were going to deal with his dog. He stated he had been going to the same clinic since they bought it approx. tens years ago. When I told him the story he asked was it the one with the purple hair? I said yes and he said he has had problems with her in the past too. Glad I have a Vet who has great support personnel and not an incompetent blatherer. read more

My family and I have brought all our animals here for as long as I can remember. They've helped me from the time my basenji has her first puppy exam to when I brought her in to be put to rest. They were prompt to email me a copy of my dog's vaccines so I could take her to doggy day care just an hour later. I also love that they are not pushy about selling treatments. My old dog had a gum problem that made her breath smell like death but didn't hurt her or effect her teeth. So when we said we wouldn't have her teeth cleaned extra or medicate, they totally understood. We appreciated that so much. Absolutely the worst place to bring your animal if you plan on your time being respected. I entered 5 min before my dogs nail appointment. They immediately took me in the back patient room where I sat for 30 min. No communication, no notice or pre warning. I exited the room with my dog and entered the waiting area and asked the reason that I was being made to wait such an unreasonable amount of time. The receptionist said she'd ask the Dr. The Dr was in the break room making small talk with the intake technician, giggling. I waited another 5 min and then just left. I'll never go back again. Anyone that provides a service that acts as though they're time is better than yours does not have your best interest in mind. It's rude and unnecessary. There's plenty of other businesses out there that not only value your animals health but also your time and respect. They also won't make you wear a stupid mask until June of 2023. read more

It's always a horrible experience when something you love is hurt I found my cat Lance sitting on the porch step and he couldn't walk. I didn't know what was wrong and began to panic. I waited until morning to take him to the vet They realized Lance's tail had been run over by a car and he was now paralyzed. He had to be put to sleep because their wasn't anything else to do. The staff was so incredibly sweet and caring. They helped with the payments and even sent a card to us after he died. It wasn't anything I would want to go through again but if I do this is where ill turn to for help. read more

I have used this vet to care for my dog and I tragically and suddenly lost her. I brought my sweet girl in to be cremated and the whole team there was so kind and compassionate of my loss, from when I brought her in to when I came in sobbing to pick her up. A woman who I had never met before Lisa, came home and gave me a big hug. It was so comforting. They went above and beyond and provided such a gentle and compassionate approach during such a hard time. In addition I have always been happy with the care they gave my dog when I would bring her in for vet visits. Wonderful staff, front office back office vets and all in between. I would like to acknowledge the great customer service I experienced with Sam at Analy Vet hospital this past week. While vacationing in Yosemite our little dog, Jill was stepped on by our 75lb Doberman, Jewell. It appeared as if Jill's leg was either broken or dislocated. I did not have the ability to google search an urgent care Vet hospital, but I did have phone service. I called Analy Vet, spoke with Sam and asked for assistance. He spent over 15 minutes finding Vet urgent care hospitals along our route home and Jill was able to be seen within a two and a half hour drive from Yosemite. I cannot express enough gratitude for the kindness and professionalism Sam provided to us. Thankfully, Jill's injuries were only soft tissue and she is back to joyful herself. This place is beyond amazing. My husband took our American Pit Bull Terrier in because she was throwing up. X-rays showed something in her stomach that shouldn't have been there. Before the tech came back in the room my husband could over hear the front desk calling other customers to ask them if they could come in later in the day, the doctor had an emergency surgery to do. As we suspected it was for our little one. She needed surgery right away and that was our only option. I had joined my husband at this time and the time was taken again to explain in detail what was going on. I felt they would do everything they could to save our baby but also was not given any false hope and was explained of the possible outcome in a way that I would never be able do with someone. They were so caring, understanding, thoughtful and above all else extremely sensitive to our feelings. Unfortunately during surgery they had found what was most feared. Too much damage in her stomach. She was put to sleep at that time. This must be so very hard for them to see too often and at the same time you can't help but be amazed by their empathy toward us. Never did we feel like anyone there had a "seen-this-a-thousand-times" attitude to our situation and never did we feel rushed through the process of paperwork while grieving. I was able to take as long as I needed to say my goodbyes to my little Love. The doctor seemed like she had all the time in the world to talk to me although I knew she had to have been busy since her whole day was already pushed back for us. Another note: The other customers we talked with during our day were all so caring and understanding. One lady even offered for us to use her home right around the corner while we waited since we lived so far away. I thought that was so kind. She didn't know us and only saw a young family trying to handle a horrible event. I would absolutely recommended this place to anyone and everyone without hesitation. read more

I brought my dog here because my parents-in-law had such a great experience with their Corgi here. They seriously saved her! She was so sick with terrible skin issues. I've been taking my dogs and cats to Analy since moving to Seb. in 2009. I really like all 3 vets...Drs. Alexander, Cloninger, and Baldwin very much. The techs and front desk people are also very good. I've found the vets to be very compassionate, thorough, a good source of treatment options, but understanding of limitations that owners may want or need to put on treatment, particularly of old and/or very sick animals for personal or financial reasons. We would all like veterinary care to be cheaper so that all pet owners can afford it. It's tragic that some animals clearly suffer because their owners don't have the money for services they need. But, the sad reality is that vet school is very expensive and veterinarians have to own state of the art equipment for record keeping and treatment...and have big staffs... in order to stay competitive and able to deliver the diverse treatments that pet owners have come to expect. Thank you, Dr. Alexander and all the rest of the Analy medical and clerical staff, for making visits to the vet as painless as possible. read more

I don't like writing bad reviews but I have to be real about my experience with Analy. I came here with my senior dog after moving to Sebastopol because they were literally the only vet in town that was taking new patients. Well, as it turns out, there's a reason for that. In all my talks with Kali's vet, Dr Alexander, I never got the sense that she really cared what happened to Kali. She offered various drugs, but that was it, and there always came a time when I'd be asking questions and she would get impatient and go silent, as if to say, "Your dog is old, what more do you want me to do?" The one drug that probably could have helped Kali (who had dementia) was Anapryl, and Dr Alexander admitted that none of the vets there really knew much about it, and they didn't prescribe it. Well, I do - it's the first line protocol for dogs with dementia, and the only drug that seems to really help them. And I wasn't able to get it for Kali, which I'm still upset about. Instead I was given gabapentin and trazadone, both of which made her symptoms worse. All of this was hard, and I was continually frustrated with not being able to help my dog. But the reason I'm writing this review is because the week that we decided to euthanize Kali, I called Analy and left a message for Dr Alexander to let her know. And she never called back. Which of course confirmed for me that she never actually gave a rat about my dog. I was pretty upset by this but thought, hey, benefit of the doubt, maybe she never got the message. So a couple weeks later, I called Analy again and told them that Kali had died, that I had called to let Dr Alexander know, and that she had never called me back. They apologized and said they would definitely let her know (again). And...she still didn't call back. It's been over a month. That's beyond negligent - it's hurtful. I raised Kali from a puppy and had her for nearly 17 years, and at the end of her life I barely got any help and zero sympathy from the person I entrusted with her care. I was treated with more care and sympathy by Chewy, a national corporation, who actually sent flowers and a card! So if you come here because you're out of options, just know what you're heading into. read more

Nice welcome staff and friendly clientele. They were able to fit me in in a last minute pinch. Very expensive - however, the Vet Shannon was extremely personable and very well informed. She answered all my questions with ease and was super kind to my dog. We reccomend this Veterinarian. read more
