I came here every day while I was in Banff. It is in the lobby of The Kenrick hotel. From their drink menu, I've tried their flat white, latte, and chai latte (my favorite). I've also had their bacon breakfast sandwich, which was good but a bit greasy. I wish they reheated their baked goods since they didn't taste fresh when we had them -- the ham & cheese croissant and hazelnut chocolate croissant were a bit stale despite getting it in the morning. read more

This was by far my favorite coffee shop in Banff. My friends and I got two croissants and Chai lattes, and the Chai latte seriously hit so hard. Especially because it was so cold outside, the Chai latte was probably one of the best if not the best I've ever had. Their croissants are so perfectly flakey, and I especially enjoyed their strawberry croissant. The jam inside was the perfect touch of sweetness. Walking in, I noticed they had vinyl records on the wall. They also do pour overs if that's how you like your coffee. There are seating areas available inside and out. Great location in the heart of restaurant row. Maybe they should lower the volume a little bit as the cashier was having a hard time hearing my order. Creat java, cool ambience and perfect spot to rest and relax. I love coffee and when a I find a place where there is great stuff I quickly tell everyone in Yelp. THIS PLACE HAS THE STUFF! Story: I had 45 mins to kill waiting for a rapid test at Shoppers Drug Mart. The Pharmacist recommended I wait at Analog saying "you will really like it!" Yea, she had that right. I had a cappuccino and a light pastry. The cappuccino was made perfectly and the danish was so good that I'm willing to walk a few more km tonight to burn it off. Let's see, that may mean 10km but oh well, it was worth it to bring my soul into balance. Found this place by chance. Took an uber out to the record store next door, then walked to the corner and found this place. I'm assuming they are related as the name would say, but I'm a sucker for a coffee shop that plays vinyl. Barista was super helpful with finding the right coffee to buy, and gave me a sip of the drip just be sure. I got a pour over which took no time and I think everyone in there thanked me. I sat outside watching the people for a minute then went back to work with said coffee. 10/10 read more

Fantastic location, great service, amazing taste. I have visited this location many times - it is me and my friends' favourite coffee shop to meet at in Calgary. It's on a corner facing Tomkins park which always has something exciting going on, especially in the summer. The outside is simple, clean and polished with the branding, the contrasting colour of the outdoor seating giving it a premium feel. It's just sheltered enough to be comfortable to sit outside in the summer even being on one of the busiest streets in Calgary. The interior is a little dark but this is lightened by the wood grain in the fixtures and floor. The whole back wall is covered in records which gives it a retro vibe, and the staff on the machines are incredibly knowledgeable and professional. The food is a little expensive but for a once-in-a-while treat it's perfect. I like to get the breakfast sandwiches here, heated up, to go with a beautiful iced almond milk latte or a mocha in the winter. The mugs and saucers they use here are in immaculate condition and have the company logo pressed on them (I notice the condition of the equipment like in my Trees review in Vancouver). read more

We were looking for a coffee spot to hit up before heading back home so I suggested we check out Analog Coffee. I've passed by this place many times while perusing 17th Ave but never stepped inside. Always plenty of people sitting outside working and people watching. I didn't realize they have 6 locations across the city now. Crazy. We came on a Monday afternoon and the place was packed. The inside is trendy. Love the vinyl records adorning the walls. It's just as busy inside with people working on laptops, studying and catching up with friends. There's also a pastry case upfront. The menu is split into espresso, brewed, steeped teas, alternatives and ice drinks. Two sizes (12oz and 16oz) to choose from. - Latte ($5.30 16oz) - Litaly loves his coffee so he went with a cafe latté. Enjoyable. - Iced chai ($5.20 16 oz) - S wanted something light and cold. First time trying this place on a recent trip to Calgary. When I ordered a macchiato, the barista asked if had ordered it from this shop before. When I replied in the negative, she promptly explained that a macchiato was a double shot of espresso with foam on top. I nodded slowly and said, "mmmyeah, that's right." And she explained, "ok, it's just that some people think it's what you get at Star#ucks." I was elated that like-minded people who can tell the difference between real coffee and what Star*ucks foists upon the unschooled masses are running this place. When a once amazing place to work shows you the true inner hiding colours after asking me of health conditions that may affect my work so they could support me as a team. I mentioned that I have a diagnosis of PMDD (pre menstural dysphoric disorder). My manager said each month my period arrives, she will provide an understanding mindset to the symptoms I experience, in an agreeance to set up for success. The next cycle I have, was open about for 3-4 days how I was feeling , that it was going to be a really intense one. They decided to terminate me against my well being & the condition that they claimed to be so keen on seeing as a condition of my health. I am more like defending this place more than I am reviewing it. Whenever I am traveling and am looking for solid coffee away from home, I type "pour over coffee" on Yelp and see what pops up. Analog popped up on the search and I was dismayed when I read the reviews for their "drip coffee filters", whatever that meant. A few reviews complained about the process... huh? You ordered it. It's called a pour over... and a good cup of coffee takes time. If you wanted a batch brew, just ask for one and they'll pour one for you in less than 10 seconds if they have some. Don't order something good that will take some time and then complain because it took some time... sorry for the rant. I'm just a coffee nerd and thought I would defend the baristas here. If you're going to splurge on baked goods this isn't the place for it. Pricey baked goods and sandwiches that arent notable. The over caramelization of the baked pastry I purchased, caused the flakey layers to stick together and taste doughy. The corbeux sandwich was just so-so. It was a baguette bun sandwiched in between 3-4 pieces of ham and some caramelized onions. I question wether it's worth paying $12 for a meager sandwich. I just feel as though there are much better pastries shops in Calgary, such as Manuel Lature, which is not far down the street from Analog. Great cafe! My sisters were already here studying so I decided to stop by and grab a coffee with them. I have to say I was impressed by the constant stream of customers! I assume its always busy here considering it's a trendy nice cafe on 17th with yummy coffee and pastries. I enjoyed my latte. I didn't think it was mind blowing, maybe the flavour was a little too subtle for me, but I definitely enjoyed it nonetheless. I also got a chocolate croissant, something I can't resist trying at new cafes. Delicious! I really liked the atmosphere of this cafe. It was pretty busy but my sisters were able to find a table to share and when I got there, there was an extra seat next to them available for me. It's not a cluttered cafe but be ready to get cozy as it gets packed. This would be a great cafe to study or do some work. I feel like it would also be a great place to work. Cafe life. I like my coffee, and was told by more than one person that this was some of the best coffee in Calgary! When someone makes that claim, you gotta try it for yourself! Holy &@$#....!!!! I just had the smoothest Mocha in my life at Analog! Perfect temperature too! For just under $5 for a 12oz it really was the least they could do. It's a very trendy atmosphere inside. Bob Dylan is playing in the back ground surprisingly loud while the 17 avenites talk about life, love and liberty. Two long benches straddle the entrance face large windows offering couplets and singles plenty of sunlight. 6 seats per bench. There are approximately 5 small tables inside which probably means you are getting yours to go because its mad packed. The line up was very analog, as in slow. It is popular with the laptop camping crowd that staked out their tables with empty coffee cups, glaring laptop screens, and headphones to block out the sighs of people with coffee waiting for tables. That said, the service was very friendly, and the espresso was the best one I had in Calgary on my visit. I'm a really big fan of Analog. The space is bright, it's clean: a nice reflection of the coffee there. After enjoying Fratello at a number of places around town including their pop-up location at the Calgary Farmers' Market it's nice to have a dedicated spot for it on 17th, it's a little more accessible. It's great to see the third wave coffee movement making its way to Calgary. Phil & Sebastian was always my default spot but on my recent trip to Calgary I went to Analog on 17th ave and was very impressed with the results. Let's review some technical details: - Locally roasted coffee beans: Check. Fratello Roasters - Baristas with proper training on pulling espresso Check. - Microfoam quality and Latte Art: Check. I've noticed a recent trend with third wave Cafe's to start qualifying their cappuccinos as "traditional cappuccino" on their menu due to all the confusion that the frothy Starbucks abominations have caused. This was true with Analog and so I ordered their "traditional cappuccino". It was very well done. The latte art sported a heart which is by itself not so impressive but was an indication that the barista had good technique with steaming milk (see the picture that I uploaded). The temperature of the milk was perfect, not too hot (very common problem even with many 3rd wave cafes) which brought out the milk's inherent sweetness. The espresso also tasted dynamic and was not over extracted. Overall I was highly satisfied. They even have free wifi which is a plus and the location on 17th Ave is vibrant and happening for a city like Calgary which can be very sleepy with all the bedroom communities as you get further away from downtown. read more
