I would not normally choose this show because I thought it was just scary stuff. BUT was I in for a surprise!--This show is amazing. It's the story of how Criss Angel's Mindfreak came about.... I am perplexed on this show. This show is the story of Criss Angel and his influences growing up. Criss Angel was not in the show, however, he was at the start/beginning of the performance. He was prepping the audience that they needed to applaud, cheer, respond to the acts, and also stand for an ovation. I was kind of speechless on what was going on the entire time during the performance. I have seen many Las Vegas shows and I would kind of describe this a Broadway performance with no singing. The production seems like they spent a lot of time and money on the video screens, effects, and light show, BUT the show overall lacked. I kept looking at my partner to make sure I was watching the same show as him because when the curtain would close after nothing happened the crowed would start clapping and cheering. It was so weird. There is some magic and the performers are talented but they did not spend to much time on stage. The magic and performers acts/scene (like a performer spitting fire is for about 1 minute) followed by 3-4 minutes of the stage being dark with flashing lights and having dancers moving about for no reason. The acts in Amystika are illusions that have been done many times and doesn't seem to have any "new" material. I would not recommend this show for the price. Save your money and see anything else and you'd be happier. Then best magic from the show would be how they took everyone's money from buying a ticket to Amystika. Side note: The showtime was at 9:30pm. The doors didn't open until 9:45pm and the show started at 10:30PM. I am kicking myself for not reading the reviews before going. read more

I think I was at the showing others who have rated this poorly were at. There was a storm and water was leaking through the roof, even into the theater! Because this show was being filmed, it started at least an hour late. Originally we were seating in the balcony and then moved to the floor. Then we were moved again so that Flavor Flav's party could have our seats. Show was actually not Cris Angel but other performers. For the most part I enjoyed the tricks. I didn't care for the story about Cris Angel's life when he wasn't the one performing tricks. There is one act where they turned on fans and blew papers and confetti trash along with balloons at the audience. It was fun despite other people being offended because it's supposed to look like trash. We liked it so much that my husband went the very next day with a friend after receiving more free tickets. I heard that the show is shutting down tomorrow so hopefully it gets a rework. read more

So this was just an "OK" experience as it was just a little weird! I was comped some tickets to see Criss Angel's new show Amystika. The first problem I had was the nearly 30 minutes everyone waited in the lobby just to get in to the theater. My time is just as important as Criss' time is to him. At this point, there is no way that the show will start on time as they inform us that they are filming for his upcoming new tv show. Criss comes out into the theater in sweats and slides and starts directing folks where to sit. He's basically barking at everyone to fill in gaps for "his" tv taping. Well over an hour after the scheduled start to the show, Criss finally is happy with the look of the audience and retreats to the back to get dressed. The show itself basically tells his life story of getting into magic, and it's done kinda "Cirque" style with incredible lighting, effects, and overall stage production. There is a comedian that is inserted throughout the show to break up the few actual magic performances, but I was shocked with some of the "off color" jabs that he took at the audience. Even a major performer like Criss Angel should not get away with allowing those types of comments to be made just for a laugh...we've progressed too far was a society. Overall the show is well put together, definitely a large budget production, but the lack of actual magical performances, and a clearly defined script to heap praise on Criss kinda turned us all off a bit. My time is just as important as Criss coming off well on tv, so when I'm told to leave my front row balcony seats to fill in downstairs for his filming, and then am placed in the very back...it's a hard pass for me. read more

This was a fun albeit different show from Criss's Mindfreak. It's fairly new, and it's a collaboration involving the Cirque de Soleil director. So, you can expect some Cirque elements. There was a contortionist and some acrobatics as well as that overall surreal dream vibe you get from Cirque shows. This show also features several new magicians, so you will have a little less exposure to Criss. They're good, though, including a very impressive reenactment of Houdini's escape from a straight jacket while submerged in water. The show is supposed be the story of Criss's life, but it was a bit hard too follow that story. Maybe they are still working on the story since the show is new. Definitely worth checking out, especially now while they're offering package deals for both shows or a discount if you come back another time to check out Amystika. read more

The show is supposed to start at 9:30 pm. They finally opened the doors at 945 pm. So far I'm not happy because the show still hasn't started. Once I see the show I will update my review and rating. Ok, I am keeping the one-star rating. The show started almost one hour late. We were not told that the show was being taped for an upcoming tv show airing in the fall. Criss came out and told us that we were fortunate to be there during the filming. He spent much time asking everyone from the balcony to sit in the lower-level seats. He asked for 'pretty people to sit up front and he selected them as people walked forward, I thought this was ridiculous. Then for several minutes, we had to practice clapping, standing, looking scared, etc. Criss could care less that the show was starting almost an hour late and it was already a late show, to begin with. An apology for the delay or being grateful that we accommodate all of his requests would have gone a long way. The absolute BEST part of the show was comedian Mike Hammer. We were seated at the balcony but was asked to move. The show was not ful although we went on a Wednesday. The balcony was closed out and everyone from the balcony was moved downstairs. I would give it 10 stars if I could! Other than Mindfreak, this was my favorite show I've seen in Vegas! There was comedy, dancing, illusions, magic, and a beautiful backstory to Criss Angel's life. I have seen a lot of Vegas shows, & this was the worst show I've seen here. IDK even how to describe it. It's supposed to he the story of how Criss Angel got into performing, but I'm not sure what i watched. There was a comedic performer who would come out from time to time, & lots if special effects. There was an escape trick, dancing, a guy on fire, etc. it was like they just threw together every type of flash. There were lots of special effects & they were well done, plus the theater was nice. Those are the only good parts. Plus you can't go in early. Our 9:30pm show let people into the theater at like 9:25pm. See any other show & you will Be happier. read more

Reading through the previous reviews gave us an unreasonable expectation for this month-old show. The reviews were probably written by friends of his or the performers to entice people to come. Criss Angel was ONLY in the first few minutes of the show (dressed in housecleaning day sweats) to explain how the last couple pandemic years have been hard on the entertainment industry performers as they had no way to earn a living. He sat in the audience at the back of the auditorium to watch the show instead of perform in it as the advertisements portray. He also pushed about how he and Dragone wanted to make a show that brings positivity and joy as we emerge from the 2020-2022 pandemic ... there was minimal joy exclusively by way of the MC comedian (and sometimes Pascha; both guys in matching pink suits). Transitions from one act to the next was slow, side performers (girl with red eyes, contortionist, dancers) seemed like afterthoughts (they'd pop in and out but without context or long enough stage time to enjoy), and the storyline jumping from illusions to comedy then sadness were jarring as we tried to follow along. What we liked: there are a couple times you get garbage blown at you from giant wind fans ala toilet paper in Blue Man Group (thank goodness I wore my eyeglasses for protection), the underwater breath holder guy was extremely impressive (though it took forEVER to get to the act itself; more of standing around than action), the card illusionist is fast, and the comedian MC was quick-witted as he called out some in the audience. Warning for the feminists: he is verbally impressed by pretty/skinny women and calls out old guys with young girlfriends. Oh, and the recurring, scantily clad, faux-hawk (perfection), blonde woman - her commitment to her 110% ripped physique must be intense... she looks amazing and has a magnetic stage presence! This show focuses on the Criss Angel coming-of-age story like it was supposed to be a biography or documentary. It was more depressing than uplifting. The lobby and hallway is FULL of Criss' face, photos of him with celebrities, and more of his face. Like, literally, there's a 10 foot tall rendition of his face you can take a picture by. There's a giant digital TV wall with a practically topless, super-abs Criss with "Mindfreak" at the top - another suggestion that he's the main performer in this show, which he's not at all. Although we are all for supporting talented artists, and Criss seems like he means well for those who have suffered in health and economic struggle, this show isn't worth the money or time (or to also pay for parking). read more

I'll be the first to admit, I had to be talked in to seeing this show. I was in Vegas for a work trip and I was exhausted when my girlfriend decided to spontaneously get us tickets for the show. I begrudgingly went with her thinking, "If the shows bad, I can just sleep in the dark theatre.....but, oh, how impossible that plan was. The show is a whirlwind of dancing, illusions, and some truly dangerous stunts that will, quite literally, take your (and at least one other person's) breath away! Visually, the show is unmatched. With a combination of dazzling light effects, immense fire sequences, and a freakishly realistic stage screen that will make you question what's really in front of you. Once the show starts, it doesn't let up. It's fast paced and a lot is happening at once. Occasionally, it does feel like there's a little TOO much happening. Blink once, and you'll miss something. This show is among one of the best live performances I've ever seen (and I've seen an enormous amount of live shows). The bottom line is, I could not have slept through that show if I tried. Chris Angel is not actually performing in the show which was a little confusing. Afterwards the meet and greet was super awkward. Absolutely loved this show. Didn't like the waiting in the lobby before entering the showroom. Because of the ceiling decorations, it blocked the air conditioning. The magicians/ illusionists / dancers / comedians and music were amazing. We sat a few rows from the stage and still couldn't tell how they did the acts. Criss Angel does not currently perform in the show. Earlier reviews indicate that he may have appeared at some point, but not as of July 30, 2022. Instead, this is a Criss Angel-themed variety show featuring a handful of magicians who represent young Criss' biggest influences. Each of them performs one classic illusion or routine. The card manipulator, Stefan Vanel, is particularly good. For those who know magic, this is by far the most skillful act in the show. The non-magical acts include a contortionist, an aerialist, and a dance ensemble. They are good, but it's Pretty standard Vegas variety show stuff. Nothing particularly groundbreaking here. I don't want to seem jaded. If you haven't seen many Vegas shows then this might be new and fun for you. But It felt overly familiar to me. Too much energy is spent telling the audience that they need to applaud and respond more - but unfortunately the show just doesn't generate that kind of response. Even with all of the considerable talent onstage - the pacing is clunky and awkward. Many of the acts - though well done - just don't inspire a jump-to-your-feet response. The final "get-everyone-dancing" curtain call went on long after the audience had clearly lost interest. I actually felt bad for the performers. Kudos to the company for making a valiant effort. Good if you're a serious fan of both variety shows and Criss Angel. Otherwise... meh. read more

I love to be tricked and experience magic. I have no idea how he does it. It was like a fun rock concert with amazing magic. At the end we were offered a coupon to attend the Amystika show. After actual toilet paper was blown on me by an enormous fan during the performance, I considered it a sign from the Vegas overlords to take shelter in the bathroom. Amystika is an wonderful journey showcasing other magicians telling the journey of Criss Angel well he plays a fantastic role himself. Criss Angel is an adorable dork that is amazingly funny and full of brightness. His crew once again is fantastic and you're in for an amazing treat. My mom was picked from the audience to go on stage with the comedic magician (100% not rehearsed when audience members are picked to participate, which makes this show that much more fun and mystical) and was so excited about the meet and greet after the show! "Amystika" has mystified me from the very day it was announced. I've been a fan of Criss Angel since he started performing in Vegas in 2008. Few will admit to liking his collaboration with Cirque, especially when it was BeLIEve before it transitioned to Mindfreak, but I truly did. At the time, I thought it was amazing. I thought it was unique. I thought it was something that Vegas and the world of entertainment had never seen. I was totally sold. The show lasted 10 years. Criss moved on to perform Mindfreak at Planet Hollywood and the Cirque door closed. The contract was fulfilled. At least, that is what I thought. Then this new show was announced. A collaboration with Criss and Dragone, a man who literally founded some of Cirque's very best shows. The collaboration was originally called "Mr. Smiles and Molly." Yes, you read that correctly. It was billed as a "pre-nightclub experience." It was going to debut in 2021. Until it didn't. The name changed to "Amystika" and that should have been the first red flag. Months-long delays should have been another. Zero information about the show - anywhere - should have been yet another. Preview performances were not only postponed - they just didn't happen at all. The show just ... premiered, in April 2022, and that was that. After plans fell through to see it in April, I finally saw it in June. I didn't really know what to expect, since I knew nothing at all about it and there were no reviews anywhere to be found. I very quickly realized why: the show is not good. It's just ... not good *at all*. The best way I can describe the show to you is that it's a story about the life of Criss Angel. That's it. That's all that needs to be said. It is not a magic show. The show is billed as "theater." It tries to be some kind of Cirque/magic hybrid but spectacularly fails at both. (We already went through this with BeLIEve, didn't we?) The show is too disjointed and the "story" of Criss Angel is not told well. The scenes are set up like this: "[Criss narration] I enjoyed comedy magic as a kid. Ladies and gentlemen, here's Mike Hammer! [Later] Houdini was one of my biggest inspirations. Here's the dangerous water torture cell escape. Try to hold your breath if you dare! [Later] I have a scary alter-ego. Introducing Xristos!" People literally dance on stage and in the crowd wearing Xristos masks. At this point in the show, I was beyond baffled & horrified. My mouth was open in literal disbelief. If you told me years ago that Criss Angel - THE Criss Angel, the man who walks on water and levitates in the Luxor light and escapes from straightjackets - would put together a show with a group of dancing Xristoses, I would never have believed it in a million billion years. But here we are. This is a thing that actually happened. On stage. In front of an audience. Here's the main reason why the show falls flat: nothing in the show is new. None of it is revolutionary in any way. The illusions that *are* in the show are recycled from previous Criss Angel shows. Every single one of them. And that's the worst part of all. If you aren't familiar with Criss Angel or haven't seen his previous shows, you wouldn't know this. But I know. I've seen all of his shows including his touring shows. And it pains me to say that I've never been more disappointed in a "Criss Angel show." You just can't call a show revolutionary and amazing and BRAND NEW when you are performing illusions *from your other shows* - some of which are over a decade old, maybe even older by now. There are only so many times you can repackage the same illusions and still call them "new." And you can only be fooled so many times as well. The magic, or whatever's left of it, has left the building with this show. Amystika is not a show I can recommend, but Mindfreak is still a good show and a million times better in comparison. Go see that, and forget that Amystika exists. I'm trying to. read more

I took my 16 year old nephew to the show and wasn't sure if he would be into it or not. From the start of the show until the very end he was entertained and we both sat at the edge of our seats enjoying both comedy and death defying magic that had us holding our breath! The show has a great story line that sucks you in wanting to know what's going to happen next?! The theatre itself was very fascinating. The lights and sounds were amazing. The way that the effects are tied into the show are very well put together. This show did not disappoint and I would highly recommend it. read more
