I went in at the last minute to have some sarees altered for a wedding, panicked because they weren't according to the measurements I had sent in to the company. I called to see if she had the time, and she assured me she did. When I arrived, I received better treatment than I had ever hoped for! She had me try each piece on and then asked me what I wanted altered--all while assessing the garment and how it fit my body. After I addressed each bit I felt needed fixing, she had me take it off and she quickly pinned the alterations before having me try it on again. The woman KNEW how much to take in without measuring or pinning it while I wore it. I have NEVER had such excellent care from such a knowledgable crafts(wo)man! Needless to say, she was able to fix everything exactly to my body within 45 minutes of arriving, and had the dresses ready less than 24 hours later. With such a rush job, I expected to have to pay an exorbitant price, but it was shockingly reasonable! I have already told all my friends about Amy's Silver Thimble, and I heartily recommend her work and artistry to all the rest of the Yelp world. read more

A few months ago, I bought a pretty sleeveless blouse to coordinate with an unusual color of slacks. I've been looking for one with long sleeves, but still haven't found one. Last week, in the same store, I saw that same sleeveless blouse at a great sale price. I bought the second one - and took it apart. I took both to Amy and asked whether she could make 3/4-length or long sleeves from the front and back pieces. She draped the pieces around my (large) arms as we discussed the fit and length, and she explained how she could deal with the keyhole neck on the front piece. Five days later, I tried on my new long-sleeve blouse and couldn't be happier. The fit was excellent and the length was more than I thought was going to be possible. She listened carefully and did exactly what we talked about. read more

This is the only place I go. I stumbled on Amy's at her old location and she completely refitted a suit for me after I lost weight. When she was done and I tried it on, she suggested it might look better with slimmer legs-- then did the additional work for free. And she was right, much more in proportion and fit like a glove. Great work. So when my husband needed two suits taken in because of HIS weight loss, I took him right to Amy's new location. We went to pick them up today and what a beautiful job she did! We will definitely go back in the future when the need arises, and I would recommend her work to anyone without reservation. Carol M Warren read more

Amy is amazing!! I traveled from Texas to Detroit for my wedding. I arrived 4 days prior to my wedding and had 2 dress emergencies, I was completely devastated and stressed out. I found Amy's shop and from the moment I walked in, I knew I was in good hands. She made both of my dress alterations, she did everything hand made and in my opinion she made both dresses look better than when I originally brung them in once she added her own touches. She provides quality work and really knows what she's doing, she does great work and she literally saved my wedding. I am forever grateful for Amy and I thank God I found her when I did. She is a life saver!!! read more

I needed a wedding dress altered for my quickly approaching wedding. Amy altered my dress so it fit well and even helped to add a little glam to my very simple dress. I was impressed with the quick turn over. Price was a little higher than expected, but my dress turned out beautiful. I brought the dress in on Feb. 28 and it was ready for a fitting by the 18th of March. Final fitting/pick up was Marxh 23rd. She also pressed my dress for me so I didnt have to worry about steaming it for my big day. read more

This woman is so sweet! Stayed open late just for me. Assisted myself and mom to determine what alterations are necessary. For myself, she helped with the bust on my dress and for my mom shortening her dress so she wouldn't trip. Took less than a week to get both jobs done. Very reasonably priced :) I saw her take a x large dress altered to fit a customer as well. It was huge the customer said they bought it and the size was double her size. Gifted hands in alterations for sure! read more

Amy has made alterations now to 5 military uniforms of mine. And the results? Perfect. I never have had to worry about IF the workmanship will meet rigid inspection criteria. Her sewing skills are the best. I have tried other tailoring places in Madison Heights.... and NONE of them could match the work Amy does. I Keep going back. Why? You Find the best and forget about the rest. TEN STARS AMY!!! read more

I would give 6 stars if I could, I first stopped by a few weeks ago in a rush to have my lady's dress hemmed and have the straps taken up. In a matter of hours we were ready to go and she did a fantastic job at a great price. I have since had a shirt altered and a pair of slacks reconstructed ( which she did while I waited). Not only is she a kind Woman but extremely talented at her craft! read more
