So I asked my twin boys what they liked the best. Answer: the chicken, well, the beef, and the shrimp, and the pork bun. So-apparently 2 thumbs up from 2 kids. Pork buns were warm, tender, flavorful. Veggies and noodles in Chow Mein held their individual flavors suggesting freshness. Beef and chicken were tender and not drab, cheap cuts of meat. Found a new favorite. Thank you. (Oh. This is by far our favorite Chinese Restaurant in the Santa Rosa area. Their menu is extensive and showcased a wide array of authentic dishes. Amy's is in a little strip mall on the edge of Cotati, in the middle of a few major intersections, and the Highway 101 off ramp, and on ramp. It has parking right outside it's doors, shared with the other businesses there. Food: We arrived close to 3pm, and managed to order off the lunch menu. An orange chicken with fried rice, and a prawn chow fun (this is the thick flat white noodle). Both came with a small bowl of hot and sour soup. The soup was delicious. The orange chicken was decent. It's battered, deep fried, and covered in a thick sweet sauce. Fried rice was so-so. The chow fun was greasy, but it did have fresh prawns, fresh bok choy and mung beans, and was a pretty large portion. Condiments on each table ranged from soy sauce to salt and pepper, but no chili sauce. Service: There were no other patrons, so we had the run of the place. Water was refilled throughout the meal, and food came out quickly. Otherwise, we were left to ourselves. Cost: One appetizer, and two entrees ran about $28. Overall: I'm not sure what the fuss is about on the other reviews, but everyone has what they like, and perhaps this just wasn't for us. read more

So terribly disappointed in the food I picked up. Had not been here for several years and used to love their food but I am sad to say, I won't be back. Half the wontons were soggy and greasy and so chewy, not crispy. The chicken fried rice was oily and not flavorful. The portions are good and the food was ready early. I used their online order system and did not get updates so walked in early and food was hot. Absolutely cannot recommend anymore and I feel bad saying this. read more

Asked and response "No MSG!" Most important response at Asian restaurant EVER. Okay, I've only tried a few things. Yes, they give you the FREE unexpected crab rangoon AFTER you order ... probably to make sure you're getting more than a $5 drink. I must admit it's the best creamiest cream cheese laden "crab" rangoon I've ever had (and yes, it's Pollock and colored but it's good so who cares? Fish is fish and who ever expects real crab?). We ordered the hot and sour soup, the BBQ pork buns (2 to an order, steamed), and the Mu Shu Pork. Let me first start with this ... the food is not the usual, it's understated, mild (not bland mind you), home-cooked style, and delicate. They do offer hot sauce which is the chili lumpy kind, and you have to ask for it. The hot and sour soup was anything but hot and sour. It had fresh tomatoes, which was a little strange, and the only bit of hot was the white pepper - which should be the norm. But honestly I liked this soup better NOT thinking it was hot and sour soup. I added hot chili, soy sauce, and more white pepper to taste more traditionally to what I'm used to. This, was, well ... soup. It's good but I'd call it a veggie laden soup and my friend, Fred, joked it was veggie white pepper soup. Not hot and sour. Of the pork buns mine was overcooked. Wayyyyy overcoooked. It was bound so tight that I couldn't eat the "white part", the breading of the white bun. It was so rough and tough. So my friend took it and said he would dip it in the soup. Ahhh, not alas. After a while I noticed he ate all of his soup saying "It's turned to a rock. You know, it was as hot as lava, so now it's rock". I giggled, but nigh did it change the fact that the white steamed bread was totally rock hard. Only one of the two buns were, but still ... The Mu Shu Pork was really good. A definite order again item. It was sweetly flavored just right. Honestly didn't need the pancake or extra sauce. I used them anyway, but in the end just ended up eating the pork veggie mixture. Yes, it was that good. However with this restaurant only having one dish out of three making the mark, not sure it's worth a return. I don't understand what everyone else is raving about. Maybe we just have other sh$t Chinese in Cotati/Rohnert Park so this stands to impress by lack of powerful flavors, but good delicate food. I do actually prefer the hot and sour soup at MY China or the pork and shrimp bean curd at China Chef. Ah, but let's just say if you like thick cut tofu in your hot and sour soup and you love veggies, this place has got it for you. Oh and one other thing ... coupons on the take-out menus by the door. Free chow mein, crab rangoon, stuff like that. And while you're here, pop over to Asiana the Korean Asian store, lots of great stuff! read more

I have found the food here to be consistently delicious and fresh, the service great, and the value irrefutable. Just had this for dinner and it was so good!! Everything was just simply exactly how you wanted it to taste. We got 3 different chicken dishes and the meat was cooked perfectly. The crab Rangoon's were the best I've had! The prices are a little high but it's totally worth it, they fill the cartons with as much food that'll fit, they're bursting full. I have eaten at a lot of local Chinese restaurants around Cotati and none of them have been able to hold up to Amy's Chinese Kitchen. The few times that I have called to place an order for delivery the gentleman who answers the phone is extremely friendly and outgoing. Just the kind of customer service when you call a restaurant. That tells me that they really care and appreciate you trying their restaurant out. When I have ordered delivery they always say to expect the food in about half an hour and every time the food arrives in exactly that time frame. The delivery driver has always been smiling and happy when he delivers our food to us. He has always been friendly to us and always said thank you for using their restaurant, which shows me they really appreciate the repeat business. Their serving sizes are just right in fact they are just the perfect size. They prepare and give you enough for two meals. My favorite dish they prepare is the honey walnut shrimp. The flavor is fantastic and blend together so well it's so tasty. One dish I never expected to see was Mongolian Lamb and it is also to die for. I have eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants, but have never ever seen a lamb dish on the menu. The Mongolian Lamb to has great flavor and is prepared perfectly. Came across this place by accident and so glad I did! This place is awesome! Really good food and decently priced. They're super fast with delivery service and it's always the owner doing them. He's very friendly and I don't think we've gotten an order that didn't come with a free order of egg rolls. 4 stars. Food is good, but nothing to rave about. I enjoyed the orange chicken and general chicken, but I prefer a crisper deep fry. Both times I have gotten a soggy crust which im not a fan of. Fried nicely with a crispy skin. All veggies inside, but the cabbage and carrots had been pickled. Not the right veggies, not the right taste. Awful. My son took one bite and said no thanks. Beef chow fun (noodles). Noodles clumped together. Weird tasting brown sauce. Beef was ok, tender. Two different types of veggies? Did you run out? My son, who devours everything, only ate a small portion than declined seconds. Hm.... Chicken with bok choy. The chicken was all white meat, which is not really correct, but no big deal. The bok choy veggies were ok. The dish was average but acceptable. I tried a variety of other dishes from the other families. The dishes bordered on acceptable to not good. They were friendly and accommodating to our group, so I added one star. If you like this food, I thinks that great. I hope you aren't offended by my remarks. Man, it is difficult to find decent Chinese food in Sonoma County! Amy's has a lot of solid reviews so we thought this might, at long last, be the place...but no. The chicken was dry, really dry, microwaved way too long dry. And the breading was mushy. The hot and sour soup was okay, but just okay. The chow mein noodles were good and flavorful, but again the meat on it was dry. The egg rolls we got had ok ingredients but they were oily on the inside and slightly burned--again as if they re fried up some that were left over from the night before. We were there on a slow night, and the service was barely adequate. In addition the owner kept coming out and sitting at a table near ours to visit with an obvious friend of hers. I've been wanting Chinese food for awhile so after leaving Sebastopol because they have no Chinese restaurants we stop at Amy's in Cotati. We are the 2nd customers there. I was surprised with their good reviews. I love Mongolian beef & they do a good job,thin slices of beef,thin slices of onion & green onion,coated in a tasty sauce. My friend ordered sweet & sour chicken, they got the first order wrong but made up the time & brought out her dish quickly it was pipping hot & delish.They have lunch specials but no dinner specials.There was enough food to bring home. It is not very charming inside, the tablecloths can be replaced as well as the stained carpet throughout the restaurant and the bathroom needs a remodel too. So maybe just maybe that's why the lack of customers not even calling in orders to go. Go figure. read more

I absolutely love this place! Came here the other night with 3 people and decided to do one of their dinner specials which is the best bang for your buck. The more people you have the more entrees you get. Everything was cooked to perfection! I've seen some reviews that the food was too oily and we did not have this problem. We even ordered a plate of chicken chowmein (super oily at most places) and it was perfect . They gave us some rangoons 'on the house' and they were the best I've ever had.
