During the conversation, I simply mentioned that I had previously had facial fat grafting as part of my cosmetic history. I was then told the consultation would be $400. To be clear, I am not seeking revision surgery. I have not had a failed procedure that needs to be corrected. I simply disclosed that I had previously had fat grafting to my face. When I asked why that changed a $285 consultation into a $400 consultation, the response I received was dismissive and unnecessarily rude. That interaction immediately raised a larger question for me: why would I pay $400 just to consult with a Bergen County practice when Manhattan is minutes away and offers access to some of the country's most experienced oculoplastic and facial plastic surgeons--physicians whose practices encompass complex lower-eyelid surgery, tear-trough correction, fat repositioning, orbital and midface work--often with more reasonable or clearly explained consultation policies? Cosmetic medicine has entered an era of extraordinary pricing: consultation fees, procedure fees and seemingly endless tiers of additional charges. Expertise deserves to be compensated. But increasingly inflated pricing does not automatically equal greater expertise. Patients--particularly women, who make up such a large percentage of the cosmetic surgery market--should be able to ask a simple question about a fee without being treated as though they're inconveniencing the office. A $400 consultation fee because I disclosed prior facial fat grafting, combined with the attitude I received when I questioned it, was enough for me. There are simply too many exceptional specialists in New York and New Jersey competing for patients to tolerate this kind of experience. Expertise matters. So do transparency, professionalism and humility. For me: thank you but no thank you.

I iced my eyes with a bag of frozen peas (as recommended) every hour for 15 minutes for the first 5 days and my bruising was at a minimum. Even with the swelling and bruising, there was a noticeable and very positive improvement immediately! I'm so happy with my results and Dr. Landmann says it will continue to improve over the next year. I would highly recommend having this done! This was my first time getting lip fillers, which I decided to do 1 year prior to my wedding. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and I waited for less than 10 minutes. The woman (I think her name was Amber?) who escorted me to my room and set up my lip numbing, questionnaire, etc was so kind and personable. She eased all my nerves and made me so comfortable. Emily greeted me, kindly and professionally (also I got the vibe that she is a very chill person who cares so much about her career)-- she asked what I wanted. I deferred to her judgement-- I said do what you want, just make them juicy but not like a duck. She did exactly that. I am now a week since receiving the filler and I am in love. This was all my face needed. Emily did a PERFECT job with minimal pain. She asked for my permission to record the session, to which I agreed (I don't care if people see! I'm proud of filler!) After, she did NOT try to sell me on anything else. She thanked me, gave me directions for care, provided an ice pack and exited gracefully. Afterwards, I started to feel faint (I unfortunately always faint when I get needles stuck in me), I told Amber this and she laid the bed down for me and let me rest until I was back to consciousness. I made the appt and verified the cost would be $149. I did agree to add dermaplaning to my service but was not made aware of any additional charges beyond that, or the cost. I think this may have been a miscommunication because I had a $100 birthday coupon I was planning to use but regardless asked what the cost of the service was...period (not after my coupon). That is also why I agreed to the additional dermaplaning. I reiterated before the service that my skin is sensitive and at the time had some clogged pores but only one active breakout. I left with red raw bumpy dry skin. I called immediately after the service to complain and asked for someone to call me also to discuss the $249 I was charged. I reached out thru Klara multiple times as well as sent multiple pics.The entire left side of my face was covered with large painful red bumps and breakouts. I did hear back once from the person that performed the service indicating it could be from the heat and should be better by the next day. Unfortunately things did not get any better the next day and I did not receive a call like I was told she would or message asking how it was. Would not recommend and will definitely not go back. I will say, this has been an experience... but an excellent one to say the least. From the moment I walked in the door, to the time I left, I felt so comfortable the entire time. The place was extremely clean and fresh, and just a great experience. The staff was so friendly, and I really appreciate that, I get a little nervous before major procedures, but everyone was making me feel relaxed and chilled out. Dr. Auerbach & his dental assistants had performed my surgery, and even before the procedure began, they all made me very comfortable and I didn't feel that nervous at all after a bit of chatting with Dr Auerbach and the staff. I usually get scared of needles and stuff, but I still felt comfortable, and that says something! The surgery overall was quick and efficient, and Dr. Auerbach wasn't kidding when he said that it would take like 45 minutes to complete the surgery, it was really fast. I even remember saying, "Wow, really? We're done? Seriously, we're done?" (I was a little bit loopy, haha) But yeah, it was very quick and efficient! Here's the best part, it gets better. I was in little to no pain the day after surgery, which shocked me in a pleasant way. My infection seemed to get a lot better after the surgery. The day after surgery, I had lots of energy and could walk normally. I want to applaud everyone at Riverside Oral Surgery, from Dr. Auerbach to his dental assistants for a smooth procedure, aiding me in a smooth recovery, and putting me in a comfortable environment.
