I did Bowenwork in my area for a few months and then moved to the greater Austin area. I thought I would go as long as I could without any body work, but after a few months I found it increasingly difficult and painful to raise my legs for each step going up to my 2nd floor apartment. I could see that if I didn't do something I was going to have a particularly difficult time getting into my apartment. I found Jessica from the Bowenwork Academy's "Find a Practitioner" and saw that she had taken all the courses and had more than 500 hours of Bowenwork experience. After 3 times of going to Jessica, I realized while I was quickly and easily going up the stairs that I was not in any pain! It just happened so naturally, I didn't notice I was doing better. Jessica has also worked on my jaw (TMJ), my neck (weak voice), shoulders (tight and painful), pelvis, knee, wrists, lower back, hips and feet. Afterwards, I have to sleep and allow the Bowenwork nudges to awaken my body's healing response. Really, I wouldn't believe it, if I didn't experience it every time. And Jessica has a sense of what is needed, and how to address it. She expects a change, and adjusts what she does, if it's not forth coming. I have also had a session of therapeutic, restorative movement (not sure what she calls it - using special balls for self massage) and that session relaxed my muscles so much that again I had to sleep. Services: I've had acupuncture before, and what I love about Dr. Mari Galle is that she's studied Eastern medicine for an incredibly long time, received her doctorate in it, and approaches clients as human beings, not numbers, where she simply tries to sell services and products. I've been to other spas and service providers, and it felt that they didn't understand my unique journey with what was and is going on with my body. They went in and did XYZ service, and I was done. Dr. Galle listened and, like a skilled practitioner, went in and started to target not only what was the issue but the underlying root cause of what was going on before the pain in my mid-lower back started. After my mother passed away this year, I knew I was storing a ton of inflammation all over my body, especially my back. She did her magic, explained what she saw, and ended with Guasha. Listen to what they have to say about post-care, too. I could literally feel my body removing toxins the next day, so it's essential to eat clean, drink plenty of water, and do the things they say not to do (drink alcohol, go do a cold plunge, etc.). Staff: As mentioned, Dr. Galle is incredible. I don't consider her a worker or staff member; she's a person I call a friend, and I trust her deeply.
