There is seating, vending machines, Subway, an ATM, and children's books. An extensive bus schedule is next to the ticket booth. The second floor is Amtrak and the READY school. There's the ticket counter, seating, charging station, and portraits about African American figures and chapters throughout Champaign, IL (a great read!). The READY school and third floors are not accessible to visitors.

There is a fairly large well-lit lot (that was mostly empty when I arrived) just on the other side of the tracks from the station (go around the block to the east). The lot is marked with signs saying "Illinois Terminal. Parking by Permit Only." The easiest approach is to park there and walk around the north side to the station. Once inside Illinois Terminal, go to the second floor (the Amtrak area) and look for the sign on the pole saying "Long Term Parking Registration." Grab a blank form, fill it out (car make/color/license, Amtrak reservation number, name, phone, date returning), and drop it in the box. All set. Nothing to put in your car. The station itself is clean, attractive, and comfortable. Nothing outstanding, but perfectly usable. When the train arrives, they have a system of a single file line outside the door, where they check off everyone's name before sending them to the train. Definitely a fine option for parking and catching the City of New Orleans.

There's also a small parking lot that was pretty full from the look of it. Aside from that, there really aren't any amenities. In fact, it's a lot easier to list the features that this station DOESN'T have: No Restrooms No ATM No Ticket Office No Lounge No Elevator No Quik-Trak kiosk No Payphone No Wi-Fi No Lockers That said, this station does have train tracks, so it gets the job done.

I've used this location as a predictable hub to get picked up from, or dropped off at to catch a…read moretrain. For years it was just an old worn out enclosed brick shelter with one of those overhead heaters. It was a far cry from comfortable to wait in during the winter months, but that has now changed. This station has been completely renovated from it's former state of almost dilapidation. There's now a nice heated indoor waiting area with benches, drinking fountain, and 2 handicap accessible restrooms. They have handicapped parking close to the tracks now as well. I regret not looking to see what the hours are on the station, nor taking photos as I was a little pressed for time.

Oh, Lex. They have quite a reputation around Champaign. I have a few memorable experiences with…read morethem: 1.) My mom and I used to plan shopping days in Chicago, and we used to use Lex. Like others have said, it usually involved a random stop at a hotel parking lot in the middle of nowhere and we would switch shuttles and/or drivers. Shady, awkward, inconvenient. 2.) My then-boyfriend had an early flight in Indianapolis, and I booked him a ticket on a Lex shuttle because there were no other options for a 2 am departure. He was the only passenger, and the driver was a pregnant woman. As soon as they got on the highway, he noticed her head bobbing. He asked her if she was okay, and she told him that she was really tired and ASKED IF HE COULD DRIVE WHILE SHE SLEPT IN THE BACK. WHAT. IS. THIS. My boyfriend obliged (...) and drove the shuttle all the way to the airport. Hahahaha! When he pulled the shuttle in to the airport, the lady thanked him and was on her way. 3.) Yes, I have taken Lex even after that. I missed my Amtrak train at Union Station and needed to get to Champaign that day, so I called Lex. Lucky for me, they already had a shuttle on the way. There were a few other people, probably students, riding with me. I was sitting directly behind the driver and could see his hands and face in the mirror. During the whole trip, he had his cell phone in his lap or on the steering wheel and was texting. I mean, come on. I don't even want to know what sort of subject matter caused a 50-something guy to be glued to his phone like that. Just kidding, I totally tried to read the texts but couldn't. I do know that he was an awful texter and driver. He kept veering out of his lane just a little whenever he was looking down. Lex really needs to get their stuff in order and screen their drivers. And yes, their hub is also a jacuzzi showroom or something. It's strange. The only good thing I can say about Lex is that I can usually bribe the driver to take me directly to my house instead of the hub. I've never taken the buses, only minivan-type shuttles, so maybe those are better. I only take Amtrak now-- I'd rather deal with long waits than crazy drivers.

The town has a few restaurants and some historical places to visit, one of which is the Old Historical Depot and the Cumberland County and Historical & Geological Society building. And best of all is the nearby Cumberland County Covered Bridge.You can stroll around the town and see all the old buildings with their famous porches.

I purchased a ticket from Peoria for a trip from ORD to ISR on June 8, 12:30. My flight arrived…read moreearlier (scheduled for 10:15 but arrived at 10:00). I went to the bus terminal on 10:20 and the driver told me that I needed to pay $20 transfer fee. There were plenty of available seats on the bus so I called Peoria customer service. They told me that it was too late to transfer through them so I had to pay the $20 fee to the driver. I rode on Peoria twice before and remember seeing people with tickets on a different time board on buses. My bus from ISR to ORD was delayed for almost an hour -- after driving 30 minutes, the driver drove us back and asked us to switch to another bus. Luckily I did not miss my flight but Peoria did not offer monetary compensation for their delay. My experience shows that Peoria cares little about their customers.

Instead of $45, it was $105 just to get from Peoria to Chicago airport. VERY POOR SERVICE! Better off spending the extra on a rental car or Urber.
