It's not three feet long unless you're using some kind of Casey-specific measurement system where *everything* is legally required to be gigantic. It's basically a yardstick that went to the gym, bulked up, and now intimidates every normal ruler within a five mile radius. We had an amazing experience at Hunter's Honey Farm the weekend before Christmas! We got to…read morehand-pour beeswax candles and fill a honey bear with fresh, raw, unfiltered honey--such a fun, hands-on activity that even my teenager and her friend loved. Kelley was fantastic, sharing her knowledge of sustainable beekeeping and the care that goes into producing pure, organic honey straight from the hive. The farm gift shop was stocked with incredible raw, unprocessed honey, honeycomb, and beeswax products--we left with plenty! We're so excited to come back this summer for the Honey House Tour, Beehive Tour, Forestry Tour, and Queen Special Tour! So many cool things about that experience... 1) I used a chainsaw for the first time and now I want to cut down all the trees! 2) We put something that wouldn't fit in our car in our relatively new truck bed... it was sooooo big! 3) While I was there, I bought several jars of their honey (again)! They have completely embraced the "hot honey" trend and are making some amazing honeys that are perfect for a nice "drizzle" on pizza, a Christmas ham or even as a sweetener in your green beans or spaghetti sauce! Their service is fantastic and you're even able to taste a few before buying! Go see them for gift baskets or to join their "honey (not jelly) of the month club" #iykyk

Their beer is fresh, varied in types, and the whole vibe is still German bier garden. While we are talking about heavy hitter German brews, this place is oddly affordable, but still a thief to your wallet (in the best way possible). They started to bring food trucks around which is a good call. I look forward to come to CU so that I can stop by! This place is still the real deal and it's insane that it's in Central Illinois. There's a museum which talks about the time/place when Thomas Lincoln lived here - takes about 45 minutes. There are groups where it is set up with buildings and farm animals of the Thomas' Lincoln's time. His grave is just down the road. A key part compares two farmers of the time period. One is a farmer from the area that was interested in farming for profit with the latest technology and Thomas Lincoln, who farmed for the purpose of being a self-sufficient farm owner. There is an example of the homes of each type of farmer. We went in March; apparently there are tours during the summer. Ours was self-guided.

I love Lincoln Log Cabin and have since I was a very young child…read more In the past, there were many animals there and actors who would talk to you in the part of people living during the time period. This was always super fun. I see that much less often now. There are less animals (last time I visited they had sheep, pigs, and chickens only) and I haven't seen any actors there in a while. With that being said, I enjoyed the sheep, chickens, and pigs and I also enjoyed looking at the buildings. They were all locked during my last visit, but sometimes you can go inside of them and look at the insides of the cabins, which is much more fun. During my last visit they were offering free produce they grew in their garden and I liked that a lot. We grabbed some tomatoes. The reduction of one star is simply because I remember the past when this place was super amazing. Now there haven't been actors the last few visits. I have seen sheep, cows, horses, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and cats there before, but my last visit only had three of those animals. In addition, it's more fun when you can enter the buildings. Even without all the animals and actors and access to the buildings, it's super fun and I'd recommend it!
