It's officially the World's Largest Key, standing at 28 feet and 1 inch by 11 feet and 4 inches. I…read moresay officially because this very large key made it into the Guinness World Records in 2018. So, there you have it. It's official. Apparently, this key is a replica of the key to the record holder's Chevy Silverado truck. I say, if you're going to go through the trouble of creating the world's largest key, you might as well make it significant to your life, right? Why not make the world's largest key look like your normal-sized truck key? What fun. Speaking of tons of fun, there is a Bible verse plaque that's next to this, the World's Largest Key. All of the big attractions in Casey, Illinois, have a Bible verse attached to them, because of course they do. Unfortunately, like all of the other Bible verses, this one is nebulously related to the very big thing in a clunky, shoe-horned way. I'll let you look up Matthew 16:19 yourself.

Despite all my rage, I am still just a person in a cage. You, too, can be in a cage (with rage, or…read moresome other emotion) when you step inside this giant bird cage in Casey, Illinois. Is this the world's largest bird cage? I can't say yes with confidence, because I'm not seeing anywhere online that it's officially the world's largest. Even this Yelp listing lists this roadside attraction as a "giant bird cage." But do we really need to bandy about with the superlatives in order to appreciate the grandness of this bird cage? I don't think so. Let's just appreciate it for what it is: a Giant Bird Cage. This really is a very large bird cage! Multiple people can get into this thing. It's a good photo op, for sure. There's also a bench in the cage that swings, so that's fun. Giant Bird Cage is located on the far end of the main drag of large things, near the World's Largest Mailbox.

It's 32.5 feet long, whereas the real world's largest pencil is 76 feet and change. It looks sharp, pointing down to the sidewalk the way that it does, but of course it's not. It's a No. 2 pencil, the best kind to fill out scantrons. I'm hoping that Casey, Illinois, will somehow create a world's largest scantron. This big pencil is located by a coffee shop and t-shirt shop, on the north side of W. Main Street.

It's not three feet long unless you're using some kind of Casey-specific measurement system where *everything* is legally required to be gigantic. It's basically a yardstick that went to the gym, bulked up, and now intimidates every normal ruler within a five mile radius. It's a quick goofy stop and fits right in with Casey's collection of delightfully unnecessary large objects. Enjoy the other Big Things in this Small Town!
