Jumped on here more for the experience. Like an idiot I got a ticket for the next day. Immediately the window guy frank went inside and changed it to today. Super cool of him. Seem less and eased my worry immediately. The guy loading the train made a stupid joke to one of the guys boarding the train which kinda pissed me off. "Is this the train for St. Louis"? -guy with the hat working for Amtrak..."nope" Literally had to ask 2 times. The guys was obviously stressed and was also African American, Amtrak guy was white as they come. Probably not the best time to make someone feel like they might not get to there destination. Stressed me out also but is what it is. Dude just needs a quick smack. Not cool.. either way super cool experience. Clean and very good ending!

Beautiful station with tons of seating and very clean. The old Amtrak station was tight and dingy…read morelooking. This station has TV's and electronic monitors that show the train status. It's also a bus station for the city buses as well as the longer haul buses. The location is great for ISU and Weslyan students and includes a Subway to get a sandwich or beverage. It's a HUGE improvement.

Staff were extremely helpful with questions regarding parking; parking was extremely easy and convenient. You park in the garage connected to the station and pay with an app on your phone which is very easy to use. Overall a good station!

I haven't met an Amtrak employee who wasn't helpful. Much nicer than some of the Metra employees in Chicago (like the one time I took the Metra into Wheaton and one of the Metra guys ran out and insisted I didn't pay...) The app is helpful because it shows real time status. No agent on premise so you have to purchase your tickets online or by phone.

There is seating, vending machines, Subway, an ATM, and children's books. An extensive bus schedule is next to the ticket booth. The second floor is Amtrak and the READY school. There's the ticket counter, seating, charging station, and portraits about African American figures and chapters throughout Champaign, IL (a great read!). The READY school and third floors are not accessible to visitors.

There is a fairly large well-lit lot (that was mostly empty when I arrived) just on the other side of the tracks from the station (go around the block to the east). The lot is marked with signs saying "Illinois Terminal. Parking by Permit Only." The easiest approach is to park there and walk around the north side to the station. Once inside Illinois Terminal, go to the second floor (the Amtrak area) and look for the sign on the pole saying "Long Term Parking Registration." Grab a blank form, fill it out (car make/color/license, Amtrak reservation number, name, phone, date returning), and drop it in the box. All set. Nothing to put in your car. The station itself is clean, attractive, and comfortable. Nothing outstanding, but perfectly usable. When the train arrives, they have a system of a single file line outside the door, where they check off everyone's name before sending them to the train. Definitely a fine option for parking and catching the City of New Orleans.
