Entered the Amtrak Train Station in St. Louis Mo and it was horrible. Boarded a 8:00am train from stl to chi expecting to be able to private s snack or something during the ride but there was only. We were informed that the riders in the rooms on the lower level are guaranteed food but not for people in coach. I should have gotten something to eat before boarding but street much investigation I was informed that there is a diner on the train where food can be purchased only to get in here and be told the food is only for people in the rooms, not coach. We are in the last train and there is an announcer but we can't here anything that's he's saying, it just sounds mumbled. I am a diabetic and am worrying about my sugar levels dropping to low since the only thing I've had since last night is a bag of chips. Please do not get in the train expecting to be able to purchase food because there is none to purchase, nothing. This ride has proven to me that the train is just 1 step above Greyhound and at jest with Greyhound you can get off and get food at the stops. Never again. read more

Super cool place. Coming from Las Vegas and this is a whole new world! Decided to take the train back to St. Louis to catch my flight as Uber and renting a car were both over $100 bucks. Jumped on here more for the experience. Like an idiot I got a ticket for the next day. Immediately the window guy frank went inside and changed it to today. Super cool of him. Seem less and eased my worry immediately. The guy loading the train made a stupid joke to one of the guys boarding the train which kinda pissed me off. "Is this the train for St. Louis"? -guy with the hat working for Amtrak..."nope" Literally had to ask 2 times. The guys was obviously stressed and was also African American, Amtrak guy was white as they come. Probably not the best time to make someone feel like they might not get to there destination. Stressed me out also but is what it is. Dude just needs a quick smack. Not cool.. either way super cool experience. Clean and very good ending! read more

Amtrak - Toilets and bathroom - Train Stations Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

Booked online so no staff interaction but parking is my issue. Left on a weeknight around 5pm, absolutely NO PARKING SPACES AVAILABLE. wth! Parked on the street, fed the meter and husband drove in later that night to park my car in the lot. That's a 60 mile RT favor for me.....crazy!! The train conductors on this route, both coming and going to Chicago are rude and condescending. Sorry Amtrak staff, you are not a rock star employee & you clearly hate people, or your cushy job. Get over yourself. Passengers would have a better trip if YOU were a kinder person. The conductors announcements are not loud enough to be heard in the rear of the last car, so don't yell at me for almost missing my stop. I was not wearing earbuds but traveling alone with no distraction to not hear your feeble announcement. Speak up or get a better audio system. SHEESH!! read more

I'm rating the station, not the trains... the station works, it does what it should... but considering it's in the Illinois State Capitol, and the idea is to get people to use it... I think it needs to be updated. There's nothing that can really be done about the actual neighborhood, at least I don't think Amtrak can control that, but the station is in desparate need of updating and repair. My husband and I rode Amtrak from Chicago to Springfield and when we arrived at the station in Springfield to head home to Chicago, we actually looked around, there's cracked walls, an old smell, expensive vending machines (seriously, $1.75 for a bottle of Diet Pepsi!) and uncomfortable old wooden benches. For what it's worth, I could really like the old benches, if the rest of the building got an update and maybe put a little concession area in, with more than machines... maybe a person to sell you a newspaper and a soda (Part-time, maybe, just on the weekends???). The station definitely has the old town feel, but at the very least it needs a face-lift. read more

Everyone here hates their job, and they don't hide it. And by everyone I really mean the one clerk I interacted with. I asked the lady behind the counter the status of my train, to which she very emotionlessly responded was nearly an hour late and gave little information other than that. Deep down she was probably happy she got to chance to shoot someone down. However, this station does get a whopping 2 stars for convenience. It's incredibly easy to catch a train here-easy on and off. read more

This is yer standard small-city, federally-funded train station. The ticket agent is friendly, the waiting room is appropriately warm or cool depending on the season, there are vending machines and plenty of benches. I've been in better stations, and I've been in worse. Bottom line: The Springfield station gets the job done. read more

Terrible customer service. They delayed us from getting to our gate and when we got there they said we were too late and could not get on. Had to take a 5 hr bus ride instead. Terrible. Will never use them again. read more

Train arrived 1-1/2 hours late at Spfld., Ill. for our trip to Chicago, Ill., which by car is a 4 hour trip. We almost missed a specialist doctor appt. No Amtrak personnel to assist us with bags, baby or stroller. On the ride home there were so many stops and problems we could have driven faster. Train was to leave at 7:pm, we didn't board until around 9:pm, and pulled into Spfld. station at 2:am. We chose Amtrak for convenience of traveling with a baby. It sure wasn't convenient trying to feed a toddler dinner while stuck at the gate for 2 hrs. Staff on both train were rude. read more

This was first time taking a train and when I arrived, the train I was scheduled to be on (which arrived early) left a split second ago. Erik, an agent there, was walking out of the check-in booth and turned immediately around to unlock his door and got right on the computer to check for the next one I could board. He got me on the very next train, and was very kind about his service. I was initially worried about this station because of the reviews I'd read on Yelp, but now realize those were much older reviews posted. The facility is clean too. Great service and a safe environment are what made me feel the need to submit this review. Thanks Erik! read more

The Amtrak station is Springfield is filthy and disgusting. To begin with, the building itself is worn out, tired, and about fall about to fall apart. If for some reason you need to use washroom, I would advise you to hold it until you get on the train, or go before you get the station. The bathrooms are smelly, and full of feces on the toilets. You will also pay a very unnecessary and expensive price from vending machine's for a can of warm pop. We made the mistake of arriving at the train station 45 min early, and had to wallow amongst the filth. Also, newspapers come about a day late to this station, so check the date before you purchase. read more

The station itself is pretty big and clean. Couple vending machines and okay bathrooms. However there are major major delays. My trip Springfield to Chicago was delayed 3+ hours. This is ridiculous read more

It is a pain that the rails in Springfield are under construction so you take a bus to Bloomington and then get on the amtrak. In all it is an easy way to get from somewhere like Springfield to Chicago and not have to drive though. read more

THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Train was supposed to leave at 8:37 and it was delayed until 11:15. Then once boarded on the train, we were supposed to arrive by 222 and had so many delays that we will not arrive until after 4pm now. SO RIDICULOUS AND UNBELIEVABLE. Never again will I take this train. read more

Although I agree the station benches are uncomfortable, the station itself is in reasonably good shape. Also, the staff in the station and on the train are quite helpful and accommodating. The only reason I don't take the Amtrak train very often when I go to Chicago is the lack of transportation once I get to my destination. However, if I am staying in the Loop, it is very convenient and a good value. read more

Nobody answers the phone at this station. Amtrak left my disabled daughter and myself stranded in another city because they wouldn't provide an accessible bus substitute for the train while they were working on the tracks. They kept lying and lying saying one bus after another was accessible but it wasn't. Their lack of concern and service for people with disabilities is sickening. read more

This station cost me $155!!! I took the train from Springfield to Chicago. The train left at 7:30 on a Friday night. I pulled into the parking lot where the street sign saying Amtrak directed me to. I parked and got on the train. When I returned on Sunday, my car had been towed. Come to find out, the parking lot Amtrak directs its customers to is only half theirs!!! If you park on the left side of the isle, you get your car towed. There are two small 1' by 1' signs mounted to light poles that mention it however you can't see them in the dark really would never see them if you weren't looking for them. When I talked to the Amtrak workers about where my car was, the acted like I parked in a completely different parking lot because there were numbers painted on the spaces. They were not educated enough to see how a sign pointed customers to a lot that gets your car towed was not good customer service. Three people on the train got towed so there is obviously a problem. It cost me a $30 cab ride and a $125 to get my car. I would never ride from Springfield if you have a choice. It is a dump of a train station that gladly screws over its customers because their employees either don't care or have a 3rd grade education level. read more
