    the fleet is in

Glad it was there when I needed it that's for sure. On both the 1st & 2nd legs of my standby travel insanity I had to take the bus. Not any old bus mind you, but the Peoria Charter Coach. Serving 2 airports, 3 shopping malls a couple of towns and of course Joliet, a prison town. The first time I took it was the first night of my trip, my connecting flight from O'Hare to Peoria filled up from 4 aboard to oversold, rather than be stuck in O'Hare on Christmas morning (yes I flew standby on xmas eve) I opted to spend Christmas Eve driving across middle Illinois to see my 95 year old Grandma, and be with her on Christmas. I slept most of the way as I had a meal mentioned in a previous review at the Hilton and a vodka cocktail before I got on the bus. That was a smooth ride for me. Or maybe it wasn't, and I just didn't know. It was really rainy though. The second leg of my trip of standby insanity began on the 29th at 6:30am. I got a call saying my flight from Peoria was oversold because all the flights from the day before were canceled and that I was going to need to catch the bus if I wanted to make my 11:56am New Jersey connection at O'Hare. OK. I got up and went to retrieve the bus schedule I had foolishly thrown in the trash the night before. The bus I needed to catch to make my Jersey flight left at 6:05am. Well too late for that one. So I got the 10:30am bus. You can see the rest of that story in an American Airlines review I wrote the other day. It was really crowded. I never knew that so many people went in and out of Peoria so regularly. Or any part of middle Illinois for that matter. Somewhere, I think it was Morton Illinois we picked up a bunch of folks. Ya. Folks. Illinois is far and away THE flattest place on earth. This had to be where it was decided that the earth was flat. So, to amuse myself in the mid morning light I took pictures of the endless flatness for my own entertainment. I'd give them 5 stars, but there is sort of a part of me that is resentful they canceled the train to Chilacothe, and now you're stuck on a bus. But I digress. I was so happy to have that bus to ride both times I had to, but I liked the train better. Bottom line here is that it is just really hard to fly in and out of Peoria no matter what time of year it is you have a good chance of riding it if you're trying to get to O'Hare on time.

Peoria has a lot of stops, but I'm not too familiar with them besides O'Hare, Midway, and downtown Chicago.

It really pains me to leave a negative review about any business. We took the Graveyard Stories…read morewith our Park District Group on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The "tour" included 3 stops. At the first stop we saw the dried up I and M canal where the only mention of ghosts was that the workers who died building the canal were buried in the canal. The highlight of this stop was the washroom in the old toll house. Second stop was a tiny graveyard next to a truck weigh station. We saw where Tom's family was buried. Last stop we saw the grave of a Texan who had been killed in the Civil War. There was nothing ghostly about this tour. Either the Ottawa area has nothing to offer in this regard and this tour doesn't need to exist. Or this tour operator should rename this tour. Not sure what I'd call it. As a history buff, I have taken other graveyard tours and they were far more interesting. One tour I took had graveside reenactments of the people buried there. In this case, it's hard to believe they charge $35 per person for so little information. What may be a well meaning venture to promote Ottawa's history was not a ghostly graveyard tour.

Some of the people could not walk long distances and Tom tailored the entire tour to be accomodating to them. We all learned so much and the time flew by. Trailways Transportation Services, Online Purchase Policy Sucks!…read more I purchased a ticket online ($69.00) and there was a mistake made on the departure date. I called Customer Service to MODIFY THE DATE, (not to get a REFUND), But they would not even modify it. (Although within MINUTES of the transaction. And wanted to charge $20 extra dollars to reissue another ticket. I AM FILING A DISPUTE WITH PAYPAL to get charges reversed. (Although a process) But I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND #Trailways Also, their non refund policy IS NOT MENTIONED on their main page.

This company is the worst company and staffs the most inhumane people with no empathy, respect,…read more kindness, or intelligence. I have been on this bus for 19 hours and still have 4more to go. That's 24hrs and was only allowed to step off the bus twice to stretch my legs, purchase food/drinks, smoke, use bathrooms other than on board Porta potty. Both stops it was also only a 15 -20 min break. I understand trying to keep schedule times and getting to the destination, but this has been completely inhumane, uncaring, uncomfortable and completely unnecessary experience. I would rather walked the 4 state's then ever ride this company again. Their treatment of thier customers is unimaginable. Every employee from Denver Indianapolis has been completely rude, and unfortunately don't care about thier customers comfort. I watched them yell at others on board as if they were scolding a child. I watch them be rude because of other passengers not knowing English and just walking away refusing to help them. I watched them be asked important questions about travel and them flat out tell passengers not my job not my problem. There mistreatment is on all passengers equally and all they care about it packing you in like caged cattle and getting your money. They don't even deserve the one star I had tto give them in order to try and warn everyone about how terrible they are. Please choose any other means in traveling becuse this gre edy uncaring inhumane compamy deserves to go bankrupt and close. Yhey serriously need to be suied by some class action for thier mistreatment of passengers!

I am so disappointed in this company…read more We called to request a ride but did not have the exact address for our destination. This disorients five star like you wouldn't believe. Before the conversation was seemingly over, we heard absolutely nothing on the phone and assumed that we had been hung up on. So we arranged an alternative ride to our destination. On our way to our destination, we got a phone call that the taxi was outside our house. This is when we told them that we won't need the ride, because we didn't know that our ride had actually been booked. Again, we thought we had been hung up on. So we thought we would try again for our ride back from the destination. The same dispatcher picked up the phone and eventually deduced that it was the same people calling for a ride and very rudely insisted that he would not send a taxi to help us. He said he wouldn't send his drivers to chase us all over town when they cancel on services. We are not idiots, we are not difficult people. I called back today to either clear the air or file a complaint. I reviewed our side of the evening with this guy, who I believe is Tony, he walked me through the statistics of the likelihood of fulfilling all of the calls that the taxi service receives, gave me some advice for being an ideal customer, and took absolutely no responsibility for what occurred. Transportation services, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment businesses are many peoples first impression of our community, and I take that very seriously. This company needs to get out.
