Everything I was right on time in Lancaster to get picked up . Harrisburg Station was clean and close to my Virbo stay.

Small and historic station that is a great way to start your journey to Harrisburg, Philadelphia or New York. Very few services available and not many staff, but the building is clean, comfortable and has plenty of space to stretch out while you wait for either your Keystone or Pennsylvanian Service, which are the only two routes that stop here. Lots of affordable parking, numerous bike racks, and Uber & Lyft are easily accessible. Just before to have your snacks and meals on hand prior to arrival, because the tint cafe that's on site has very limited hours. As far as Amtrak stations go, unless you're looking at major cities, it doesn't get a whole lot better than this. read more

The station is clean and easy to navigate. They have up-to-date info on the boards which is helpful.

It has not upgraded since I was 9 and I'm 37. At least they have an elevator. It's enough to get to point A to B

This is a great local station -- small, but convenient for both leisure and business travelers. I often make trips into Philadelphia for work and to New York for fun, and this station always provides a quick, hassle-free experience. There's now plenty of parking for long-term and day trips -- be sure to note your license plate number so you can register your car via the kiosk in the downstairs lobby. Climb one flight of stairs and you'll arrive at the center of the station itself -- ticketing on the left, and a small convenience store/counter on the right. Pick up a cup of coffee, water, snack, and/or a newspaper before you head to the platform. And there's really only two platforms, so it's simple to navigate. The decor is very old-school -- high, wooden benches that remind me of Philadelphia's 30th Street Station -- and there are displays in the main waiting area, highlighting various art projects, environmental causes, or local historical events to keep you entertained while you wait. The platforms outside also have benches where you can sit and wait for your train. My trains here have rarely been delayed, and I've never had one cancelled. I can't always get a direct ticket to my destination, since this is more of a small regional station, but the folks at the counter have always been pleasant to deal with when trying to make arrangements. read more

Amtrak is a great, inexpensive way to get from Philadelphia to Lancaster that takes a lot less time than driving. Two lines provide access to the city: the Keystone line, with frequent trains connecting Harrisburg with New York City, and the Pennsylvanian, a daily train running between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The beautiful and historic station is located in the northern part of the city and is a quick cab ride away from the center of this small but surprisingly vibrant city. If you haven't checked out downtown Lancaster City, you really ought to give it a look, and taking Amtrak to get there is a great choice! read more

Don't give people enough time to get off the train. Instantly told an Amtrak ticket collector what happened and even though the train just started moving they couldn't stop. He seemed nonchalant in notifying the conductor. But he did allow me to take the next train back to Lancaster from the next stop, so I do commend him for that. The actual train station is clean, has a charging station to plug in electronics and has one snack vending machine and one drink vending machine. There were two police who monitor the place and I think that's great to ensure the safety of passengers. When I arrived I had a long wait for my ride because of arriving at different time than expected so the delay affected the purpose of the whole trip. The police were observant of everything and were willing to do their jobs to protect if needed. I can be pretty intuitive and very accurately sense some things so kudos to them for that. read more

The Lancaster train station is in need of serious upgrades and shows it. However, they are pretty efficient all the times Ive been there. Amtrak itself is pretty good as well. On time and a nice ride. On the downside, security is a little weak. Im ok with it the way it is, but some people are kind of skittish about it. read more

A small but nice historic station. The station was easy to find and I had little trouble finding a place to park. I also didn't have to pay to park. Inside the station a set of steps lead into the waiting room. However there is an elevator. The waiting room was one large room with ticket windows and bathrooms off to the side. The workers were very helpful and printed a fresh ticket when mine got wet from the rain. Boarding was easy as the signs were marked and there were only a few tracks. Like most historic train stations the architecture was amazing. read more

I'd really like to know what improvements were made with their multi million dollar renovation as the only improvements visible is the parking lot. Inside this building is old and tired. While I like that the original features and benches have stood the test of time there is definitely some maintenance issues that need addressed. If they can't keep their station in tip top shape what about the trains? Makes you wonder.... I've traveled out of this station on a handful of occasions, all without incident and on time. The trains are always clean and bathroom well stocked. However they do need more employees at the counter (only one is ever present), as well as for security and general customer service. If you're coming off a late train without a lot of other passengers I can imagine it would be very scary at night. The parking lot also seems undersized although a number of the businesses nearby offer daily and overnight rates for Amtrak travelers. As with any Amtrak ticket buy early - the closer you book to your travel date the more you pay. read more

As many have said, this place is in a serious need of an improvement. I understand that perhaps it's all part of the "character" of being in downtown Lancaster city, but the walls in the concourse are crumbling and the bathrooms are extremely cramped. However, it is under renovation as we speak, so I'll let things go. What's really the reason behind my low rating is the rude and unprofessional staff working there, particularly, at the ticket booth. This one woman in particular always give off this snide "I've-got-better-things-to-do" vibe and distasteful attitude whenever you go up to her with a question. When I went up to the booth asking if I could update the time printed on my ticket for a train that's going to arrive, she didn't even look me in the eye. Before I could even finish my sentence, she shoo'ed me off and actually said to me "you're gonna have to ask the conductor on the train honey, BUH-BAI." Granted, my train had already arrived by that time since I was running late and if I spent another minute discussing this with her, I would've missed it. HOWEVER, her condescending attitude and tone was uncalled for and totally unnecessary. So for that reason, two stars. read more

Overall the station is good. They did some major renovations except for the restrooms they are in pretty bad shape. Hopefully they will renovate them in the future. The little cafe is nice if you are catching a morning train. Going to NYC Amtrak is the best way to go! read more

The Lancaster Train Station is so easy to deal with, I love it. No muss, no fuss. There have been some recent renovations to the building making it look nicer. The building is quite historic, it is very open which gives it a somewhat cold, sterlie feeling, but you aren't coming here to hang out, you just need to catch a train. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I'd rather take the train and deal with stations that are as simple as this one any day over flying. read more

Why can't you be cheaper? I've always had a good experience on amtrack. It's clean, quiet, well monitored and often on time.

Easy to use, clean facilities, and a great alternative to driving into Phily or NYC.

The staff is nice but the trains are dirty and poorly maintained. The 2nd car on the keystone line clearly has a bad wheel that will rattle your teeth loose but no one at amtrak appears to care read more

The train station itself in Lancaster is pretty clean all things considered. But also quite small

This is by far the worst train experience I have ever had. Hopefully you're not staying longer than a day, wherever you are going. This station offers no services to accommodate much more than a small back pack. After calling ahead several times I was told there are no services to help me with pretty much anything besides my bag, especially a bicycle. There are no bike bags or bike/sports services. what on earth is a bike bag and why do I need service? it's a bicycle, not a horse. read more

I travel from Lancaster to Washington DC fairly often , and find AMTRAK employees from ticket agents in Lancaster to those where I change trains in Philadelphia, to be unfailingly courteous and helpful. read more
