Taking the train from Williams to the Grand Canyon was probably one of the best experiences of my…read morelife. We splurged and upgraded to first-class. This was worth the price tag. The first-class cars are temperature regulated, have an attendant taking orders and serving drinks throughout the entire experience, and includes free snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. You also have your own private bathroom just for your train car. When in the first-class car, you can elect to sit facing forward (two seats together) OR you can have the seats turned around to form a group of four. Note -- the group of four option decreases legroom significantly. The ride itself was incredible. You get to experience the diverse landscape of Northern Arizona, and may even see some wildlife. We got to see cattle, deer, birds, and way more. You also get to experience live entertainment, as performers will come once or twice during the trip to perform a couple of songs in your car. The train drops you off at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon for about three hours. It is the perfect amount of time to explore the area. I had an amazing time with my family and highly recommend!

My brother and I rode the Grand Canyon railway, and it was a great trip. We started the trip…read morewith a night in the Grand Canyon railway hotel. And then rode the train the next day. The Grand Canyon railway depot is actually on the grounds of the Grand Canyon, railway Hotel, directly behind the lobby. The day started with an old western show. Your typical good guys and bad guys, but it was a lot of fun. The actors had plenty of energy, of course they picked on somebody from the audience, and they made it very entertaining The same guys actually "attack" the train on the way back, and they also do an old west show in downtown Williams. these guys keep busy. I can't speak for the regular railroad seats, as we paid for a package that included the Vista Dome car. The seats are upstairs with a great view. The seats were comfortable. The Vista dome seats came with free snacks, and nonalcoholic drinks, , (you can also purchase food on the train,) and they had people from the bar come up to our seats. They have a good choice of cocktails and mocktails. I had the virgin bloody Mary, and it was delicious. It wasn't just tomato juice, it had a great. Flavor. Tangy, with just a little bit of heat. Throughout the train ride, there were people telling stories about the canyon, telling stories about the train, and there was music as well. You have a good amount of time to see the canyon We chose the bus tour and lunch as part of our package. You can also do the bus tour without lunch if you choose, or do things on your own. There is a free shuttle bus to sites around the south rim of the canyon. Lunch was a full all you can eat buffet, not a large number of choices, but very acceptable. A good amount of food, and it was tasty. The bus driver was friendly, and knowledgeable, we stopped at several spots along the canyon, and after our bus tour, we had time to explore Grand Canyon Village before we got back onto the train. The El Tovar hotel is beautiful, very close to the train depot, and it also has a nice gift shop as well. From the show at the beginning of the day, to the time the train came back to Williams, it was a total of about nine hours. A long day, but definitely worth it. For our entire package, including a night at the hotel, the upgraded seats, and the tour with lunch, it was approximately $650 total, with the military discount for the both of us. On the high side, yes, but definitely worth the trip. There is also a $30 charge added on to get into Grand Canyon national Park, my brother has a park pass so we didn't have to pay that. The prices will vary, of course, depending on whether you just go with the train ride, or you choose a full on package It's a great way to see the canyon. Highly recommended. Thank you.

I had used this "taxi service" for several months to get to work and back simply because they…read morecharged me slightly less than most of the other cab companies in Flagstaff even though most of their drivers were very unprofessional and were in obvious violation of several safety and health regulations (see my previous review on TA from March, 2020). First off, this company does not have an actual "dispatcher". They simply hand a cellphone to whatever driver will be answering their calls that day or night and that is who will be answering their phone calls, WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING regardless if you happen to be in the cab with them at the time or not. This is unsafe to say the least and is also against the law! I have also had drivers smoking, eating, etc. while I was in the back seat with no regard to me whatsoever. At last count this company only has two vehicles and both show obvious signs of previous collisions and both are in sad shape. Secondly, this cab company is the only cab company in Flagstaff that does not use meters in their cabs. I have been charged several different prices for the exact same ride depending on the driver. How do they determine how much they will charge you? I am assuming by how much they think they can get from you. But a more frightening issue is that since COVID-19 has become an issue Top Hat Taxi has not made any changes to the way they still do business. None of their drivers wear masks and regardless of what they may tell you, they do not sanitize their cabs in any way in between fares. You can tell when you sit down in a cab that has been cleaned and a cab that stinks! This cab company also advertises that they are a 24-hour business. Not since COVID-19. Now that the bars in Flagstaff are no longer open the driver on duty will simply turn off their cellphone and go home. I defy anyone to try and reach this company after 9:00pm or so (sometimes even earlier). All you will reach is a voicemail that has not even been set up so you can't even leave them a message. Do yourself a favor if you need a taxi while in Flagstaff; There are numerous other cab companies in Flagstaff to choose from and no matter who you decide to go with any of them will be better than this fly-by-night company.

The train ride takes about 2 and a half hours one way (significantly slower than simply driving). The presenter in our car spoke at length about a couple historical figures with regional significance. The musicians were silly, and there was a lot of dead time between their brief songs. The train robbery requires the train to stop partway through rather than continue along to the destination which makes the long trip even longer. We also appended the bus tour to the trip which also cut into our Grand Canyon viewing time. Overall, I spent about 5 and a half hours on this train and was only able to look at the Grand Canyon for about an hour. I would not recommend this option to see the Grand Canyon.

COST -- This bus is a FREE shuttle service from the several different locations around the Grand Canyon South Rim. As someone who studied Economics in University, the bus service is really not "free" because you have to pay a national park entrance fee. Lucky for me, I visited the Grand Canyon National Park on National Public Lands day so my admission into the park was free. BUS SCHEDULE -- The bus arrives every 10-15 minutes during the day. NAVIGATION -- First, when you arrive at the Grand Canyon, drive your car to one of the many designated parking spots. Upon parking your car, you will see signs for where to catch the shuttle. The shuttle takes you to several points throughout the Grand Canyon. My friend and I visited the South Kaibab Trail and the shuttle bus took us right to the entrance of the trailhead. We got on the Orange route bus. The ride was smooth and took just under 10 minutes from our starting point. I can't imagine if there were no shuttle buses to drive visitors around because as you know, the Grand Canyon is HUGE. But thank goodness for this free shuttle. If you're lost when you arrive or don't know where a shuttle bus is, there are people around willing to help or I recommend you visit the visitor's center. **** - 155 total reviews in 2019 - 364 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 14 December 2019
