I wanted to be able to share them with my mother and sister during an upcoming weekend visit. I had an old VHS from the late 80's of the band I was in, playing a show at the venerable Phoenix Theater in Petaluma. Also had a VHS from the early 90's of our vacation home being built. I needed to get them transferred to DVD and a Thumb Drive, so we could enjoy them again. Seawood Photo in San Rafael recommended I contact AMR Productions in Novato. I called and Tony answered. We went there a week ago on Saturday, not knowing they are not open, but to my surprise, Tony was there. Someone else had called because their groupon was expiring the next day and he graciously offered to come in to accommodate this customer. Who does that these days? I too had the same groupon problem. I brought him an old reel of 8mm film my elderly father spliced together years ago to try and get a complete transfer onto a dvd. Having tried it through Walgreens twice, he felt they had miss some footage. I left the Walgreens versions for Tony to compare. Five days later, Tony calls to say the job is done and that it looks like the Walgreens versions were accurate. He produced a new dvd for us just the same. I can now tell my Dad, with confidence, that this is it. I had left the groupon as the deposit and owed AMR the balance. Tony said that since no new footage was added and since the reel was already spliced together, I didn't owe him anything more. Can you imagine? I tried insisting on paying for his time but he wouldn't hear of it. If you need any video transfer work done, go to AMR Productions. It's my top recommendation. The owner, Tony Revada, is very nice and is extraordinarily creative with his film editing. One example is several VHS tapes that I wanted transferred to DVD. Because the videos were old black & white from the 60's with no sound, AMR added music popular to the era and consistent to what was going on in the video. I identified who was who in the video, and they labeled various friends and relatives and put in some very sweet quotes. My mom cried with happiness when I gave her the DVDs as a Mother's Day gift, and I must say that I shed a couple of tears as well. AMR also provides very fast turnaround for rush jobs. I've had several work-related projects that I've awarded to them and they were able to accommodate my time requirements for a reasonable rush fee -- and did the work perfectly. read more

I have never done a Yelp review before but have just started reading reviews lately when researching businesses, joining a club, or am curious about a restaurant, etc. This then compelled me to write a review for AMR Productions to give this business the credit it deserves and to show support of small businesses and Novato's "Shop Local" campaign. The owner, Tony, consistently exudes professionalism and I am always pleasantly surprised with the product he delivers. Tony is excellent at what he does and, just from the caliber of his customer service that is so rare in most businesses these days, and phony and contrived in corporate businesses and franchises, it's obvious that Tony truly cares. It impresses me that even though he is the sole employee, he always takes time out from his busy day to discuss my project, answer my questions and offer solutions and options; he has never failed at meeting deadlines, and, most of the time, he exceeds my expectations. I often leave a project with him and tell him that "i trust his professional judgment" if there's something i am not sure about; he has never let me down, and I have very high standards! Tony is creative, a problem solver, genuine businessman, he speaks from experience and his wide range of services are very affordable. I always tell him he doesn't charge enough for the quality of work he does. I can't praise Tony highly enough. My husband is quite ill and I wanted him to watch DVDs of our wedding and of the trips we have taken over the years. I thought that the cassettes had been lost when we moved a few years ago and almost gave up looking for them. Four nights ago I found them. I called Tony and told him the situation with my husband for whom we have Hospice care. Tony said if I could bring them in by the end of the day, Friday, he would have them on Monday. He said that if necessary he would work over the weekend to put the 20 odd cassettes onto DVDs and that they would be ready on Monday. And so they were. I appreciated it even more since Tony is usally closed on Mondays. I brought them home and from his hospital bed we watched a DVD of our wedding as well as one of the trips. Watching the DVDs brought joy to my husband who has had not much joy in the past several months. I am so grateful that I found Tony and I'll never go anywhere else for transfer work. I gave AMR some family video I shot for editing. AMR's editing was uninspired, if not lazy, but more importantly they edited it in "standard definition" although the original footage provided was in "high definition" (i.e. in the editing process AMR reduced the quality/ resolution of the video - this is clearly evident from either viewing the video or from the file specs). AMR told me that they thought the edited video they did looked "fine" although eventually offered to redo the job. Because of an anniversary delivery deadline there was no time to have AMR redo so edited from scratch to get it in the high definition format. I considered it irenic to ask for a 50% refund to which they refused. Later in small claims court, AMR claimed that because I had not specifically asked for the output to be high definition they had done nothing wrong. This is ludicrous since its expected output resolution would equal input resolution. In sum, I would only trust AMR with the very simplest of projects and be sure to check for errors since their work is not of high quality. read more

I found AMR by way of a Groupon and was very pleased with the service. I had two Hi-8 tapes transferred to a DVD under the Groupon but had several more tapes I brought it anyway. Without asking, Tony gave me a discount on those and he had them transferred to DVD and were ready for pickup days earlier than he said they would be done! One of the tapes had a break in it and he fixed it for nothing. As another reviewer experienced, Tony wouldn't take extra money for it. Not only did he make me the disc I requested, but he also made a second disc and a perfect jewel case cover at no extra cost.
