I went to trade-in some vintage equipment in exchange for some Leica gear. They were super thorough making sure my gear was in proper working order. They offered a very fair price for my gear and a deal was struck. I'm super happy with the experience! By the way, thank you Zane!

Jason was especially kind and informative, and mentioned that they've inspected this camera model for years. It was helpful to have him briefly check the camera. The camera had never been used by the original collector. He checked the overall condition, the shutter, viewfinder, and film housing, and didn't try to charge us for an inspection when some places might try to add extra fees. It made us feel like they truly care about their customers rather than trying to hustle money. Based on his inspection, the camera was in great condition. We bought Portra 400 and HP5 (5 rolls each), totaling roughly $160. Jamie at the register helped confirm that we had the correct film for the camera, which we were very thankful for because we had originally grabbed the wrong size. She helped us get the correct one. Thank you all! Also, they have a shop pet named Flash, she was very friendly and even had a cowgirl hat!

I started coming here six years ago to augment the lab time and instruction I was getting in school. Their darkroom was my happy place for a long time and was fairly priced. What impressed me the most about their gorgeous space was that they encouraged clients to get their work off their screens and onto the walls. Literally, any time I had a question about anything related to photography or printing, Stuart, Ed, Constance, Chrysta, or Nathan would make the time for me and help me out or give me feedback. I enjoyed printing there and always left feeling inspired because they were so kind, knowledgeable, and professional. If you'd like to learn about photography, I highly recommend checking out their services, classes, and workshops. I wish I could give them more than five stars!

My artwork was mishandled and the finished product I had hired them for was poorly executed and unusable. I had to take it to a qualified business afterwards who confirmed they did not do a good job. When I raised the issue, the owner and staff were dismissive, refused a refund, and ignored multiple emails and calls. Their unprofessional behavior was bizarre and astonishing. They clearly aren't equipped to handle valuable artwork. Save yourself the headache and take your projects elsewhere.

He was annoyed that the Novato location had closed and that this new site was a mere shadow of that. I perked up my ears; until that moment I'd assumed that this new San Rafael spot was a second outpost of Marin MOCA. It is not. As much as I generally appreciate contemporary art I have to say that the new Marin MOCA leaves a lot to be desired. It 's one large room with a few small rooms and it currently features an exhibit on - maybe - water. There's no signage to tell you what you're seeing but a booklet has been prepared to page through to learn more about the installations. The booklet may as well have been written in a foreign language as it was in no particular order, one had to repeatedly flip through its pages to find something that looked to be what one was standing in front of, the explanations were incomprehensibly long, and of one piece that I could not find a write-up on it was explained to me that "the artist changed the piece she decided to display after the booklet was made". Can we please just go back to some simple plaques beside the artworks that describe the works in language that is comprehensible? The current installation features some interesting components but honestly, one shouldn't have to work so hard to comprehend them. I wish only continual improvements to Marin MOCA in their new digs. I'd like them to stick around but I'd also like them to improve their offering.
