Jason was especially kind and informative, and mentioned that they've inspected this camera model for years. It was helpful to have him briefly check the camera. The camera had never been used by the original collector. He checked the overall condition, the shutter, viewfinder, and film housing, and didn't try to charge us for an inspection when some places might try to add extra fees. It made us feel like they truly care about their customers rather than trying to hustle money. Based on his inspection, the camera was in great condition. We bought Portra 400 and HP5 (5 rolls each), totaling roughly $160. Jamie at the register helped confirm that we had the correct film for the camera, which we were very thankful for because we had originally grabbed the wrong size. She helped us get the correct one. I started coming here six years ago to augment the lab time and instruction I was getting in school. Their darkroom was my happy place for a long time and was fairly priced. What impressed me the most about their gorgeous space was that they encouraged clients to get their work off their screens and onto the walls. Literally, any time I had a question about anything related to photography or printing, Stuart, Ed, Constance, Chrysta, or Nathan would make the time for me and help me out or give me feedback. I enjoyed printing there and always left feeling inspired because they were so kind, knowledgeable, and professional. They took the old photo and had a digital copy that included a restoration of minor details. This image is saved by them and is then emailed to you. From this image you can reproduce it. The image photo itself was $60. The copy of that image is 18"X 22" and all together it cost $190 for a print of that new image. For artists this is a dream come true. The staff were very patient with me, asking questions and explaining the options. They seemed personally invested in my project and always responded to my emails within a day. They could have phoned it in due to how clueless I was, but they didn't. Smith Andersen North fixed the issue for me, no problem. Same issue happened again for the same piece of art. I left SAN a voicemail; no one returned the call. I emailed them; no one got back to me, so I scheduled an appointment to bring the art in for a consultation/fix. I got there today a few minutes early, called the phone numbers listed on the door--no one was there. I waited--no one showed up. I appreciate that times have been tough recently for small businesses and that SAN can't staff the way it used to, but they've got to run their business if they hope to have one. I'm done. They also typically do not do embroidery for a one unit order, but he made the exception, which was really wonderful of him as I needed my medical school white coat embroidered and there aren't many places for embroidery in Marin County. I also got my coat back the following Monday. It was a very quick turnaround. I would highly recommend using Diaz Screen Printing and Embroidery!
