We went to 4 different outdoor spots around his studio with distinct backdrops, and for each one we iterated on poses and expressions, and he even picked up on some of my facial idiosyncracies in the process. We then went back into his studio and essentially conducted a realtime review session - viewing all the recently captured shots, flagging ones we liked, and ultimately discussing them until we settled on 2 winners. He then applied some minor edits within Lightroom and within 40 minutes from my initial arrival, I had 2 really sharp headshots which will serve me well for the next 5-7 years. John is incredibly personable and also immediately put me at ease. It is easy to feel stiff or self-concious during something like this, and he made it feel like a real partnership. Every session with her leaves us with images that end up in frames all over our house-- they're my favorites. She has such a gift for capturing moments that feel both beautiful and real. Nothing ever looks forced or staged-- instead, she finds those natural, joyful expressions and connections that really feel like us. Her color photos are so vibrant and full of life, while her black-and-white images feel timeless and emotional. What I especially love is that Shannon has been great for us at every age. She managed to get gorgeous photos even when my kids were 2 and 3 (and totally wild)-- and now that they're 11 and 12 and on the edge of being grumpy teens who hate posing for photos, she still manages to get amazing shots. Shannon captures wonderful group photos but also makes time for individual portraits of each of my girls, which I treasure-- and which always make holiday cards (and grandparent gifts) easy. On top of her artistry, Shannon knows all the magical spots in Marin with transformative backgrounds and can tell you the exact time to be there for perfect lighting. She's a true pro. Add to that her warm, easy presence that puts everyone at ease, and somehow she always draws out genuine smiles and laughter. I am so grateful for the memories Shannon has captured for us over the years. If you're looking for a photographer whose work you'll treasure forever, Shannon is the one.

In my opinion, picking a wedding photographer is the most difficult decision in the wedding…read moreplanning process. This is the person or persons that you are, in a sense, putting in charge of your memories. The photos they take and the moments they capture are most likely going to be how you remember your special day. In other words, you've really gotta trust who you pick. My wife and I met with some amazing photographers, whose work we thought was stupendous, but in the end we realized that we didn't want the perfect picture, we wanted more. We wanted a photographer that was going to capture us, in the moment, as beautifully real to the moment as possible. We're not the type of couple that has many photos of ourselves around the house and those we do have aren't posed. We like candids, we like moments, and we absolutely loved our photographer, Megan Clouse. From the second we sat down with Megan she struck us as much more than your typical wedding photographer. She had amazing prints for us to look at and plenty of variety in style of shots, but the thing that jumped out at us was the emotion in her work. Even though we'd never met the people we were looking at, we could feel their joy, their laughter, their embarrassment ... we could feel everything. Her photos weren't what I call the "insert bride here" type, where you can imagine any bride looking pretty in the photo you're looking at, each was truly a moment, even the posed shots. So, if you're looking for more than just great wedding photos, if you're looking for great memories, give Megan a call. She'll make it impossible to forget your special day and you'll have an amazing time working with her along the way. Rainbow boas - 5/5 (Super gay-friendly!)

Meg drove out of her way to come to our wedding rehearsal and snap a few pictures of us and get to know our families the night before our wedding. She was ready to go on the morning of the wedding and despite my frazzled nerves (we were running late), she was so calming and sweet. She was out there in the mud and rain getting as many photos as she could on our rainy wedding day and even drove us to our reception. She was able to herd our rowdy group of guests, 1/3 of which didn't even speak English that well, and was quietly everywhere throughout the day. She even brought her husband along and they worked so seamlessly together. The photographer is not someone you hear much about from your guests, but I had at least 5-6 people stop me to tell me how terrific Meg was at our wedding. (And this is before seeing any photos!) She was so cheerful, gentle, and personable that our guests just genuinely LIKED having her around taking their pictures. Both of our mothers commented on how much they liked Meg and my mom said "she is just the cutest thing!" We woke up the day after our wedding with a gorgeous picture of us in our inboxes as a 1 Day Anniversary gift and just a few days after our wedding, she already has a sneak preview up on her website. The photos? Amazing. I have no doubt we will love our photos when we get them all back. Wedding photography was one of the most important things to us while we were planning our wedding and we are so glad we prioritized our projects and budgets to make Meg part of our day. She is such a great investment and we can't wait to have a chance to hire her again. Thank you Meg!

Her photos were so spectacular I set up a meeting right then. From the start, she was great to work with. She met me to get a feel for who I was and what my husband and I were looking for in a wedding photographer. She even researched our ceremony site and event space to get a plan for the day.
