We had to call 911 for an ambulance today for the first time. A man and a woman showed up from AMR. Clay (Deytey) & Jessica Pedroza. They were the kindest, respectful, knowledgeable, funny, calm people that we had the pleasure to help us! They were incredibly empathetic and helpful. On Oct 27th at approx 3:30pm, we were in the right lane driving to Bullhead City AZ and an AMR vehicle was in the left lane along side of us, the driver completely ran us off the road. Thankfully there was a shoulder for us to avoid him hitting us. We motioned to him of what he did after getting in front of him and he had no reaction. Didn't seem he even knew what he did. I NEVER right reviews, but if I could give the zero or negative stars I would. Horrible experience with them! We called them to transport my grandma after she passed gracefully at home surrounded by family. It was called in as a non-emergency and just simply a transport service, but they came in with no remorse or empathy for the situation. My grandma was pronounced dead, but they still proceeded to pound on her chest for 20 minutes after my whole family told the NO and that she had a DNR set. Invoice Lump sum with no explanation of charges, request for detailed invoice was denied and I was directed to contact a Medical Records Company that could give me copies of the Paramedics records, but not any of the charges or actions of the paramedics. I would like to thank the three gentlemen EMTs who brought me to St. Rose Dominican Hospital San Martin Campus on 11/11/2024 at around 9:30 pm as I had very high blood pressure and some chest discomfort. They were polite and respectful. They worked as a team to make an open line on my left arm as the ambulance was moving. That was not an easy thing to do. As we got to the hospital, they made sure I was well taken care of and didn't leave until I was given a room. I regret that I forgot to ask for their names. Where to begin. Customer service is non-existent. Any questioning of AMR's billing practices is met with "file an appeal with Medicare." There was no reasoning with the two customer service people I spoke with. As soon as I hung up the phone, I received an email stating my account was in Collections. I had received the first and only bill two days earlier. Suddenly, it's in Collections. If you have an alternative to AMR, call that provider. Run, don't walk, away from AMR. read more

I was recently moved from a Dr's office to a hospital approx 300 YARDS away. I know AMR has costs to cover but wait till I tell you what they charged my insurance company. $1,210.61 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That works out to about $4/YARD My portion of the invoice is $240 which I thought was outrageous before I saw what they charged the Insurance company. About 10pm on a hot July night at the RTC in Las Vegas, my brother laid on the sidewalk clinging to life as an EMT proceeds to ask him if he's faking so he can get out of the heat. DISGUSTING! Who are they to justify treating someone like that? Your job is to take care of the sick not make assumptions because of their situation, something outside of their control. Do Better! The worst service I have ever received anywhere. My daughter called 911 because I was having a stroke (although we didn't know it at the time). I couldn't move and couldn't stop vomiting. The AMR guy told me to get up or they were going to leave me there. Thank God for the firefighters, who got me onto the stretcher and TRIED to stop the vomiting. When I got into the ambulance, the AMR guy told me to take a barf bag so I didn't vomit on him. I was already humiliated to be in such a state and this man showed absolutely NO compassion. read more

I keep receiving collection calls from American Medical Response a few times a week even though it was my Veteran father who had the ambulance ride. All AMR needs to do is contact the VA and submit the correct forms for the VA to process the bill and send payment. One would think it would be a pretty simple procedure for an estimated 1.53 Billion Dollar company, right??! Hell No! I have explained the situation multiple times to the non-english and limited english speaking international collection agents and have asked to be removed from their list to no avail. I just got off the phone with AMR's finance and collection department, who were unable to locate any file associated with my phone number or my Father's information! They suggested I contact the collection agency and maybe they could resolve the dispute. I drove myself 14 miles to Urgent Care due to shortness of breath. While I was there, a nurse determined I needed to go to the hospital. She took it upon herself to call for an ambulance for the 4 mile ride. AMR arrived and drove me the four mile ride, which I could have easily driven myself. I was not in any way critical and had just driven 14 miles. For this, this corrupt company billed me $250 in addition to billing my insurance also. I wrote them two letters of dispute which they have obviously not bothered to read or reply. They have now turned me over to collections. I don't give a rats ass, I will never pay them a penny. The next time I saw my doctor I told him about the incident. Even he said I could have taken Uber for 20 bucks. I'm kinda pissed at my Medicare provider also for negotiating with AMR in bad faith for their patients. read more

A little over 2 years ago I was exercising on my bicycle on Blue Diamond and Cimarron. I was struck by a vehicle and left for dead (hit n run) with no witnesses. I don't remember much but somebody called the paramedics and these guys came to check me out. They were talking to me and were about to let me go but they didn't know that I was bleeding internally inside my skull from the hit n run and I suddenly started acting weird and combative. They realized something was wrong and quickly got me to Mountain View hospital. I then went into a coma and had half my skull taken out. I'm so happy to have been able to come out of that coma and recover nicely and be able to sit here 2 years later doing a review on people who saved my life. Literally, the worst customer service!! Billing is confusing. I got set up on a payment plan and made a payment through their website. Then I get a late notice so I call them to find out why. You actually have to pay your bill 7 days in advance so it has time to post even though it is paid through their website and the email confirmation shows it was paid on time. This is just the beginning of horrible service. Every month something else pops up. Their customer care is outsourced overseas and it is horrible! You are at their mercy because you do not get to choose to use their service or not. read more

AMR puts on training called "stop the bleed" this training is real world life saving training they supply for free. They trained my whole family for free and included training on Tourniquets, Isralie Bandages, and rolled gauze bandages, all for free. AMR somehow replaced Mercy as the primary ambulance company in the Las Vegas area and medical response has never been the same since They are a poor excuse for a secondary medical response, unprofessional and nonexistent for the most part, and that can be dangerous I have medical issues, related to past health conditions, that require immediate medical attention as it worsens with time. It's for that reason that my PCP and the ER have recommended, from past occurrences, that I call for medical assistance, rather than drive myself to the ER. After hours of vomiting and dehydration, 911 was call and NLV FD and AMR arrived but would not enter the open door because of my nonthreatening dog I managed to get myself to the gurney and without taking any vital signs or asking any questions, except "would you like to be transported the ER?" I showed them a written directive from my PCP and requested they start an IV w/saline and if possible, nausea medication as soon as possible! The paramedic told me "they don't start IV's, that they would do that at the hospital" I told him the ER and my PCP recommended starting it immediately in route to the ER, but he refused treatment! I told him I was disabled and couldn't communicate and asked him to come closer so I could understand what he was saying, but he refused, saying he was entering information into the computer! I do not recall any vital signs being taken, prior to my arriving at the ER, but in their report, they said they took my vitals and provided "necessary medical assistance"! My insurance paid their bill, but I disputed the $200 additional co-pay, due to unprofessional and inadequate service. I was referred to the Patient Advocate department and, after reviewing the case WITHOUT speaking to me once, they determined that "adequate service was provided and if I didn't pay the bill in full or be sent to collections! As a former medic, PIO, and EMS consultant, this review isn't merely my abject disgust of two questionable "ambulance drivers," but a qualified observation of their dereliction of duty in their response to an MVA involving my son and his fiance--both of whom have given me written consent to share this story in any and all public forums. Fortunately my husband (a 40+ year paramedic) and I both responded to render aid since vitals weren't even taken until we asked. AMR's FTO (think Fire Marshal Bill, only shorter) was too busy trying to get the attention of LVFR and his female partner didn't even have the backboard out as they were dispatched to a 3-vehicle wreck with deployment of airbags. The gurney and jump bag remained in the ambulance the entire time, too. My son was concussed but do you think either of these two "ambulance drivers" held c-spine, much less touched him or asked him a single question?! Nope, not once or ever! (This isn't an MCI, folks, it's a 3-car 401.) These AMR "medics" didn't even attempt a primary or secondary exam on the fiance until I asked and then the female medic wanted to palpate the weeping fiance's abdomen as she stood on the corner of the busy intersection! Appalled doesn't begin to address this gross dereliction of duty, HIPAA violations (writing pt. info on a paper towel only to have it blow away), or suspension of simple common sense and basic patient care. While AMR's "ambulance drivers" encouraged transport given the scene, they were surprised when all victims refused. Fortunately, LVFR's captain and crew were awesome, giving the injured parties fluid, cold packs, while simultaneously ensuring their primary jobs were met (e.g., moving cars, alerting Metro, fire suppression). It is horrifying how EMS has fallen in Southern Nevada when private (Mercy) ambulance used to be internationally respected. While this review of these two EMTs is certainly not reflective of those professional and capable EMTs that render appropriate care during their shifts, this incident should give pause to citizens, visitors and taxpayers that such gross incompetence doesn't happen in a vacuum or without the knowledge of colleagues. Medics know who they would have treat their family and it's doubtful these two medics would be in the top 10, much less 100. Las Vegas may be a gambling town but one should never gamble in their time of need. No amount of PR and schmoozing commissioners can redeem this incident, but hopefully it prompts citizens to learn a little more about the EMS system, its funding, and the basics of emergency care. As far as I can tell, you'd be better served with an Eagle Scout and a truck instead. read more

Our adult son was taken by Spring Valley AMR in Las Vegas on Monday Oct 29 at 1530 hours from the Excaliber Hotel too UMC Trauma center due to a major uncontrollable foot bleed. Steve & Tom were the Emergency personnel to attend to our son and we all could not have been treated more kindly than Steve & Tom treated us. Steve & Tom took care of our son, got him to the hospital in a timely manner with GREAT CARE and kept our sons spirits high with laughter. On March 18 I called 911 for my wife. AMR was dispatched to take her to MountainView Hospital. Had to wait almost 20 minutes until the ambulance arrived. The two techs asked for her ID and insurance cards. After another delay, off they went to the hospital. Later found out they never returned the cards/ID. Called AMR and was told by the person who answered the phone: "Too bad. You're out of luck. Get replacements". HUH?? Said they had no time to look for the info. Hung up on me. A week ago, my mom had to be transported to the hospital. One of the paramedics argued with my mom that she didn't need to go to the hospital. Extremely rude and argumentative with my 88 year old mother! The other paramedic was nice and loaded my mom on the stretcher all the while the other one argued with my mom. Once they were ready to put her in the ambulance, the paramedic asked her which hospital she preferred and had the audacity to argue with her about that! I told the paramedic to take her to the hospital that mom preferred. I contacted AMR to complain and I have never heard back. Fortunately, when we had to have mom transferred to hospice, we were able to use Guardian. They were fabulous. Given the choice, do not use AMR. read more

They took ALL the information - original cards - and LOST them! AND the gal who is helping my father, who fell and is bleeding from his eyes & nose, let him sit there. I answered all their questions, and when they asked h im, he told them the same thing. When the gal asked again, Dad told her what he thought of her. The paramedics they sent out was highly disrespectful and should be fired. I was injured and this company was who 911 sent. There was three guys and one of the guys had a very bad attitude and doesn't know how to talk to people without insulting them. The guy came in and asked me what happened. As I am explaining myself he interrupts by saying "stop right there, stop right there, if you ever had a massage then you would know " I immediately interrupted him and let him know I have had plenty of massages! I feel because I am African American he tried to insult me assuming l was low class. He was Caucasian. I asked him why he was talking to me like a child because I am grown! He then stated I was acting like a child and I said "No you are acting like a child and unprofessional". I also asked why he was getting slick and he said "because I'm a slick kid!" At that point he really pissed me off and said " well good luck with your leg" he never administered care like he is supposed to do instead of wasting tax dollars talking trash to people like he is not a paramedic! I had to call 911 back to see where he worked and he refused to give me his name so when I spoke to the field supervisor he seemed like he just gave me a quick "we don't usually operate that way, sorry this happened " type of scenario and asked me what uniforms they were wearing like as if he can't look up the address they called them to and find out who this guy is. I'm tired of companies allowing their staff to disrespect people and not caring about what the quality of that individual! He should be reprimanded severely!
