If I could give this clinic a ZERO I would. Dr. David Amory administered my mom's cortisone injection too fast and it caused my mom to go to the ER. My mom felt like she wanted to faint, had shortness of breath, and her face was numb- 5 min. after leaving her appt. While still at the parking lot I asked for help and the MA and the DR. did not take the time to access her/take vital signs. The doctor seemed upset that he was pulled from clinic and stated everything that she was feeling was normal (which it was not-Per ER MD). My mom was lethargic and unresponsive for about 1 min and started to vomit. (She was presenting ALL of the signs for a stroke) I told him that I didn't think it was normal and his response was "what do you want me to do? call the ambulance or do you want to drive her to the ER? it's around the corner." I stated call the ambulance she is not ok. but as I noticed the MA nor the doctor were taking this incident serious and had no empathy I decided that my mom needed to be taken to the ER-so I asked my dad to drive her since we had arrived in 2 separate cars, and I would meet them there after informing the front desk we would drive her ourselves. Not once were her vitals taken at the time of visit nor at the parking lot while she complained of shortness of breath. They made us feel like they did not care for what was happening with my mom. The only thing the MA did was provide me with a water bottle and an ice pack because I mentioned my mom felt like she was going to faint. The MD did not come outside until the 3rd time the MA grabbed him. I had to run to the front desk to inform them not to call the ambulance because we were taking her to the ER. The front desk seemed more concerned than Dr. Amory's MA and the doctor. While we were also in the room waiting for my mom to be seen before all this happened you could hear the doctor jumping from one room to another. Going back and forth seeing other patients. When he administered my moms injection he seemed like he was in a hurry-to were I even mentioned to him " wow that was super quick you are a pro". his response was " I've been doing this for a long time ". He put my moms life at risk. She was admitted to the ER because he did not administered the injection correctly. The ER could not get her BP to go up, it was very low. She developed a fever, severe stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting. Her white blood count was very high and her troponin levels were high as well. She also developed an infection due to the injection. She fainted again in the ER and was lethargic and weak. The admitting doctor stated this was all due to the cortisone injection that was not administered correctly. It was injected into her blood stream. If I would have listened to the doctor saying " it was normal" and I would have taken my mom home. My mom wouldn't be here with us now. He put my moms life at risk and did not care. All of this is very upsetting because this was negligence at all levels and malpractice. Dr. Amory's actions show how inhumane he can be and how he does not care for his patients. He is very unprofessional and has no empathy. As a medical professional you want to make sure you treat your patient and you want to be sure to access your patients when they are not feeling well, not assume "it's normal" when clearly things are not normal. HE took my moms medical emergency very irresponsibly and did nothing to make sure my mom was ok. on the contrary he was bothered that he was called outside to "help" (which he did not do). He had an attitude and made me feel like he did not care. To end my note- I requested my moms medical records and most of the things he wrote on my moms medical record are not true. His statement is false when he states he discussed " Different options were discussed with the patient" no options were discussed. He also states in his note "staff and myself went out to the car to assess the patient" "she was breathing normally...We called 911 to have an ambulance brought. We did give vital signs to 911 operator. We noticed that the patient, however, was leaving. The patient and her family drove off in a car" This is all false. He never assessed my mom and vital signs were never taken during or after presenting complications- what vital signs were given? if no vitals were taken by him nor MA at all?? Lastly we left in 2 separate cars because my dad drove my mom there and I met my mom there to translate. How did we leave in one car? The front desk was notified by me that we were leaving because they took forever to call an ambulance for my mom. As a doctor you assess your patient! Why do you have to ask your patient or her family if we want him to call an ambulance knowing well enough your patient was unresponsive with stroke symptoms? I went to Dr Amory with severe hip pain and after reviewing two X-rays that were taken 5 years ago and a recent one, his recommendation was a total hip replacement. I discussed concerns I had regarding method of anesthesia. He listened and followed through at the time of surgery. He came to see me twice while in the hospital and I've never had a surgeon do that and I've had two knee replacements. In addition Mohammed, his PA (not sure about his title) came to see me every day as well. I received excellent care and now I'm two weeks post surgery and doing amazingly well. To start, I waited over 40 minutes in the waiting room to be taken back for my appointment. Staff behind the desk were friendly but complaining about other staff, a coffee delivery that was inconvenient for them all while patients were backing up in line to check in. When I was taken back, I was placed in another waiting area for another 10 minutes while they looked for my X-Ray and MRI results. Made it to an exam room, nurse who took my vitals was friendly and polit, left and Dr. Amory came in moments later, asked what was going on, explained my diagnosis Labrador tear in hip with paralabral cysts...(all though not sure why, he had my chart). Asked me to get on exam table and was quick and rough with moving my leg around, winced in pain several times, no concern or questions about my discomfort/ pain ( does that hurt? etc) all while mumbling good range of motion no infringement, then opened the door and said let me show you something. As I was putting my shoes on he said leave everything in here," um I would like to put my shoes on"! In the hallway he showed me my labral tear and cysts, proceeded to tell me I was not old enough for hip replacement surgery, if I was 15 years older they would just do the surgery. Attempted to ask questions, "up to you. asked what he recommended, "it's up to you" Well gee thanks doc, let me make medical decisions with my non existent medical degree. Anyway, finally he decided to refer me out to have an arthrogram and referral to hip specialist that does the labra's tear surgery. I was made to feel as though I was wasting his time since I was not a surgery candidate. The exam and subsequent discussion lasted under 10 min. Complete lack of bedside manner, rude, rushed....and a WASTE OF MY TIME! Would NOT recommend, nor would I ever return! Dr Amory was recommended by a fellow Marine who had had several successful operations. Dr Amory replaced my right knee about ten years ago. The whole procedure was minimally painful and highly successful. I immediately resumed hunting and fishing and playing tennis. I am now 86 years old and the knee still functions well. Let's preface this by saying I'm a serious runner and hold three school records in cross country at Purdue University. I'm now older, out of school, but still an avid runner. I went to Dr. Amory for some serious lower leg pain and pressure. I could not run at all and even non/little weight bearing exercise had become painful. Dr. Amory had me do x rays (which is odd because I knew nothing was broken) and then in the examining room he did not examine my leg, touch it, or even look at it. He told me I "probably" had compartment syndrome and they "don't operate on anyone besides professional athletes" so I should just stop running and being active for the rest of my life. I went to a different doctor for a second opinion and they told me I had tendonitis and with orthotics and PT exercises I was fine. If you actually want to be examined, don't go here. read more

I went to Dr. Amory after he ordered an MRI on my knee. It showed no meniscus tear but arthritis in the area. He said I should do a cortisone shot. I did and it was HORRIBLE! I was laid up for THREE days with pain! I went in for a follow-up that following Monday and his response was "huh, that should have worked" then he handed me a scrip for 60 Vicodin and sent me on my way! I will look into other methods for treatment and will never go back! read more

After reading comments that attack Dr Amory's personality or manners, I must state that he retains his focus on the issue at hand. No small talk, no nursemaid behavior. Just the facts and just the options and the need to get to the point made him the ideal doctor for me. I will assess my friends who take ownership of their lives and I will recommend him to anyone of them needing knee replacement. I was referred to Dr Amory to get a second opinion on available processes to relieve knee pain (left). Prior to my referral, I had an MRI to determine damage to the knee, I had received the injection of steroids for pain. The relief was short lived, less than two weeks. Dr Amory was straight forward, pulled no punches, delivered the options succinctly and waited for my decision. My military background put me at complete ease with his "bedside manner". Steroids provided minimal relief. Option was another injection of a more viscous material to lube the joint to delay a knee replacement. He recommended I use a knee brace. The thicker material and the knee brace reduced the pain and was a temporary solution. On my follow-up visit It was clear the latest injection was not providing pain relief. That was when Dr Amory had x-rays taken. He showed me the condition of the knee. The options were the half knee replacement or whole knee replacement. I acknowledged the next step was full knee replacement. He sent me home with instructions that I would be notified of the surgery date and be provided pre-surgery instructions. Surgery scheduled 10 days after office visit. Surgery completed on date and time. I remained in hospital three nights and was released to return home. 7 days post-surgery I was able to stand and take small steps without walker. 14 days post-surgery I was able to wake without walker. 21 days post-surgery daily walks and stationary bicycle. I have regained the range of motions that are identified as successful recovery. I am walking without a limp. Be advised, the bone growth to hold the replacement knee in place will take about 6 months and even though I walk comfortably, when sitting for any length of time it gets stiff and I experience the in the bone ache, which I am using Tylenol and occasionally the prescribed opioid. I wish to say Thank You, to Dr Amory for the excellent surgery, no infection, minimal swelling, minimal pain. read more

This ortho center and Dr Amory in particular, are absolutely horrible and totally inept. Dr Amory spent little time examining me and announced I had a muscle tear. No MRI or scan was done I called asking for one because the leg pain only intensified after I saw him. The office said I had to make another appointment in 11 days. The diagnosis he made was completely faulty and wrong. On the phone I asked for another doctor and was told Amory has the fewest patients so I had to see him. This office is such a sham. Reading the reviews here: Wow. My experience with Dr. Amory is different, and I am sure more extensive experience including a bone break, two surgeries, 1hospital, two rehabs, and 6 months, 4 of which I saw dr. Amory almost EVERY week. (And Shirley, who btw, is very smart, very efficient, and very friendly). I am sure he has never been accused of being a chatterbox. He can seem distant and preoccupied, but he isn't. He is listening to every word. He is not Mr Personality, past, present or probably future. Can you get past that to concentrate on your care and the outcome? At the end of six months I told him I finally felt better, better than most of the people in the waiting room, that I had come a LONG way, and I didn't need weekly appointments anymore, I could come in "as needed," and I thanked him and Shirley for the entire 6 months and much care that it took for my very large wound to heal. Dr Amory performed a routine knee surgery on me. I found him and his office assistant to be completely unacceptable. He completely mislead me regarding the cost and availability of synthetic viscosity treatments. A year into this process I was shocked to learn from his assistant Shirley that he regularly lies to his patients about this treatment. After several visits to Dr. Amory it was very clear that his office staff does not get along with him. My personal perception of HM is that he is simply in his profession to make lots of money. His bed side manner is a terrible. He will not engage in discussion with you as a patient for more than a few moments. I strongly do not recommend using Dr Amory or his physical therapy business. Due to pulling the joker card out of the genetic deck in the bones department, I have had the opportunity to make the acquaintance of many doctors of this doctor's specialty - orthopedics. As a caveat I must say that In general I have not found physicians in this specialty to be the most warm and fuzzy, and that is an understatement. Adjectives like brusque, condescending, dismissive, and impatient come to mind. And that is on a day they are in a good mood. I would put Dr Amory in the mid range in the orthopedist continuum, not the worst (that would be a certain esteemed orthopedic surgeon in Encinitas who was not only rough with his patients but verbally abusive to his help in front of this patient. I can only imagine how he treated them away from observers!). Dr Amory is on the young side, I would say. His technical skills I assume to be adequate. I had to go to him for knee replacement, and his handling of my case and procedure has been absolutely AWFUL!! I wasn't even supposed to be referred to him, but the doctor I was originally was referred to did not have room to see me, so the ortho group farmed me out to Dr. Amory, with out my or my PCP's knowledge or permission. Dr. Amory has been indifferent to me, uncaring, has allowed me to languish in almost constant pain, and when I have an appt with him, I am hustled out the door after no more than 5 minutes. He is completely incompetent as a physician, and it has been my experience that he has no empathy for his patients. He went on vacation after my surgery, and I was not given any information as to whom I might contact if I had trouble while he was gone. Well, not surprised I would have to leave a negative/unfavorable review. For starters, my appointment was cancelled and was told the reason why was because the doctor's office was waiting for the medical board to approve office visits (lies). I called the medical board and was informed medical offices are using COVID as a crutch and it was up to the individual medical office to stay open. So, moving forward a month later I was given an appointment. When I arrived, the doctor did not have on a mask and after about 30 seconds or so decided/remembered to put one on. Now, my MRI clearly shows I have a full rotator cuff tear and the initial workers comp ortho doctor was getting ready to schedule me for surgery however, I had not been approved by State Fund at the time. I ended up having to see a QME which was Dr. Amory. He actually told me after examining me that out of any option I had surgery would be the option I should choose. He highly recommended surgery for someone working in my career field. He compared me to an athlete in regards to there being a great need for me to be mobile and agile. Now all of a sudden his recommendation is far from that....pathetic. He made me do certain movements to check my mobility. I was not going to lie and place pain where there wasn't any. I am limited on range of motion but as far as it hurting during the movements he had me perform, not all of them and not to the point of where I had to stretch to. Everyday is different and some days are worse than others. I have had days where the pain was excruciating to days the pain was mild; and having to have waited technically from December to June 30th for an appointment I have learned how to manage my pain. Now, this doctor told me we were only there to discuss my torn rotator cuff and when I mentioned the other things I placed on his questionnaire, he told me he did not receive any information on that and it would not be wise to focus on something outside of what I was there to see him for. But in his medical report, he made mention of those things he did not see me for. Ever since Arnold Swartznegger made changes to workers comp, it became more of a punishment for people who are genuinely fighting a work related injury. Back on topic....Dr. Amory had already indicated that, me going to an attorney first doesn't look good, especially since I did not report the incident to my employer. But when I tried to explain why, he cut me off and stated his opinion about that in his report. I'm disgusted to say the least. I don't have too long before retirement so either way, God is good and this too shall pass. I will say in closing....these crooked people (doctor's, lawyers and state agency employees/employers) need to search their hearts and stop trying to condemn others based on personal assumptions. read more

Offered surgery that conformed to no other doctor or study. Had no documentation or pictures of the process. Read NIH studies on pitting cartilage and arthroscopy before you say yes to anything here. Get a second opinion. There are world class surgeons in San Diego. The office staff have big problems here. They are more battling each other than working as a team. Lots of mistakes. After a Friday x-ray revealed a broken bone, I called OSNC as referred. The only doctor who could see me on Monday was Dr. Amory. Now I know why. I arrived 30 min in advance of my appointment to fill out a stack of forms. I finally saw the doctor about an hour later and he spent approximately two minutes with me. I found him lacking any regard for his patients or concern in their welfare. Other than confirming my break, he told me "there's nothing you can do about it...you can wear that (boot) if you want." I entered the office interested to learn about a course of treatment after 5 mos of foot pain, culminating in a painful break. Before anyone seeks to undergo surgery with Dr. Amory, they would be well advised to check the court files in the San Diego Superior Court. LOTS of very unhappy patients who suffered after choosing Dr. Amory as their surgeon. My sister was never the same after Dr. Amory put the wrong size implant in her knee. STAY AWAY FROM DAVID AMORY and Coastal Orthopedics & Sports!! Do NOT do business with them. I brought my daughter in for an exam for her scoliosis and the first words out of Dr. Amory's mouth were, "I don't treat scoliosis....." I asked why then did his front office book the appointment and he said he didn't know. Because it was a wasted trip for me (had to leave work early) and my daughter (had to miss classes in school) I asked if he could see how tall she was to see how much she's grown. He took her to the scale, but the measurement was in centimeters. For the life of him, he couldn't tell me how tall she was. At first he said, "She's six feet tall...." Trying to hide my astonishment, I said, "...... she's not six feet tall......." (she was a 14 year old average-sized girl). He tried again to convert centimeters to feet/inches and said, "She's 5'4"..." I said that was impossible because her last exam she was 5'6". I was embarrassed for him and finally said never mind..... we left not knowing her height. I then got a bill for over $200 for this visit! Not only had they charged me for the appointment, but they didn't apply it to my insurance. When I called, they said they were having problems with their billing and the only way they could straighten things up is for patients to call in and tell them their insurance wasn't billed. I explained that I shouldn't have been billed at all and told my story..... long story short, I have to pay almost $150 for this "doctor" appointment (after insurance adjustment). Coastal Orthopedics insisted it was a legitimate doctor exam and I had to pay. Incredible.... I refused to pay and they sent it to collections. So I will pay but I am warning you, STAY AWAY. Besides the questionable business practices, the office was dirty and unkept. The exam room felt like we were in a messy store room closet. STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE!!!!!!!!! They would squeeze me in for over a week. Meanwhile a new orthopedic surgeon fit me in as a new patient.My knee had to have 15 cc of fluid drained from it. I will never go back to any dr. Honestly, I don't think I have ever dealt with a worse office than this one (Orthopedic Specialists of North County) or Doctor who just doesn't seem to care as long as he can get through the day. I don't want to get too wordy here, as others have already touched on several points, so let's just list some of the problems. Scheduling system has been down three times in the 7 weeks since sons injury, and they do not call back when they say they will...took almost three weeks post injury before first visit. Dr. Amory was in/out of son's exam in less than 5 minutes and didn't even recognize a muscle that we thought he may have also injured (wife and I both are in healthcare field). Referral for MRI wasn't even made until at least 5 days after our visit, same with PT and subsequent referral. 7 weeks out, and MRI has yet to be read. Could go on, but why bother... read more

THIS IS NOT ABOUT DR. AMORY, BUT ABOUT OSNC AND DR. ALLEYNE. OSNC is a big disappointment ! Most staff members there are rude, impersonal and indifferent. The doctors seem very knowledgeable and skilled but treat us just like numbers. They are way too busy, seeing more patients than they can handle. I had been waiting for this appointment for over a month. I've been having back and hip issues for over a year now, and I was really looking forward to meeting with a specialist to see how I can be helped. I'm helpless at this point. When I arrived at OSNC, I had to wait to see Dr. Alleyne for over 2 hours and when he finally arrived in the consultation room, I was greeted politely, but our consultation was rushed and impersonal. Dr. Alleyne stood wi his back towards me as I told him my story. Furthermore, he had to answer 2 phone calls during my 'time' with him. He did some tests, and that was good I guess. At the end of a rushed 20minutes visit, he gave me my diagnosis and told me I need another MRI and some injections. Then he rushed out the door, but at that moment I stopped him and I was able to ask him a few more questions about pain medication and how to sleep better at night. I was so disappointed, hopeless and confused. He didn't even explained to me what the injections are, what they will do and how risky they are. I'm so scared because this is about my hip and low back, and I have no idea if anything can go wrong with these injections. What a disappointment! Dr. Alleyne might be a good doctor but I believe he is having to see way to many patients, perhaps more than his time can handle, and it seems that we are all just numbers at this point. This guy was a TOTAL jerk! I sat in the office with my 15husband month old (hard to ignore) son for almost an hour before they called me back and said that my file had never been put up, and that's why I had to wait so long. Then snottily said "you know that's why MOST people would come and see whats going on around the 30 minute mark." Yeah... so now it's MY fault! Then finally got to see the jerk... oops meant "DR" and he made me feel like I was poop that he stepped in. He came in said what he needed to and tried to get out the door. Everytime time I tried to ask a question he would almost sigh like he was being annoyed by my questions, and the second he answered one he would try to get out the door again. I am a stay at home mom of 2. One 15 month old active boy, and a 4 year old active girl, the ability to get around is crucial to me. I was told by everyone who saw and read my MRI that I had major damage and needed immediate attention. And this jerk said "oh your fine, you just need a brace and some physical therapy" he better hope he's right, my whole family works in the medical field AND with top orthopedic specialists, I got an extra copy of my MRI and they are showing it around. On top of all that I have been injured since December 18thwhen and he JUST now sent in my referral for a brace! Not even physical therapy yet! I have a very rare condition and instead of learning about it he told me I was making it up when my mother tried talking to him he asked her "where did you get your medical degree from? I'm the Dr."dr. Armory would not consult with my previous Dr either. " I don't need to listen to some Podunk Dr. In Texas, there is nothing physically wrong with you. "He was always rude. When I then switched to another partner (who is no longer there ) he would not even follow his partners instructions. Dr. Amory left me in dirty, bloody bandages all weekend. When his partner came back he had to perform surgery to take away dead tissue from the dirty bandages. The staff was playing with each other while the patients piled up in the waiting room. I have called the office several times and I have not yet talked to anyone who was kind nor caring. I just wanted to say that I've had a bad feeling about Dr. Amory since I met him in February with bilateral arthritic knees. I agreed to cortisone injections that worked for almost 2 months. Went back in June and repeated the injections that didn't work at all. He ordered up th gel injections. When the pharmacy called to schedule the the delivery to Dr. Amory, the co pay was so expensive, I couldn't approve it. So, I went to see him last week and all he could offer was replacement. All he asked was "which one"? I told him then he left. I went forward with authorization, but called my PC and said I wanted someone else only to hear him say he would never refer Dr A to any of his patients. So I started the procedure of a 'second opinion '. In under a week, his scheduler calls to offer me a date. Panicking, I took Dec 19. Then I came here. My gut had heard all theses reviews here before I read them. I'm going to cancel with him, even if it means starting all over again. Thank you everyone from saving me from who knows what! read more

Dr. Amory is by far the worst doctor I have ever experienced. Apparently, OSNC does not have spanish translators so I had to accompany my mom to her appointment so that I could translate. Initially he seemed nice and normal. However, his true colors began to show when he was explaining my mom's MRI. I was asking a lot of questions because I wanted to get to the bottom of my mom's pain. As I was translating to my mom everything he was saying, he kept sighing and making sounds that showed he was annoyed. Afterwards, my mom wanted me to ask him about disability and to see if he could sign the papers for her. He immediately got really angry and annoyed and raised his voice as he said "I haven't even given you a diagnosis". He immediately started questioning us and scoffed at us. HE ROLLED his eyes as he walked out. My mom and I do not know anything about applying to disability, he did not have to react in such a negative manner. I remember feeling so stupid and as if I did something wrong. I just wanted to help my mother by translating. He gave my mother a cortisone shot in her knee to help identify the source of pain she was feeling. Later on I wanted to ask him for advice and how to get disability or who to ask for help. However, I felt so traumatized from his previous reaction that I ended up breaking down in tears. I started sobbing as tears streamed down my face. He looked at me confused and he held the door wide open. He waited a few seconds until he left and a nurse came in to help me. She was patient and waited until I could speak. I told her about my mother's illness and how she needed to apply to disability. She told us that we needed to talk to our primary doctor and that Dr. Amory wouldn't be the person to talk to about that. WHY DIDN'T DR. AMORY SAY THAT?? WHY DID HE SCOFF AND ROLL HIS EYES AT ME? I FELT LESS THAN A HUMAN, I FELT BELITTLED AND STUPID. On top of that, he gave us NO paperwork before we left!!!. We had to request the paperwork. He LIED in his report about what happened. He did not mention the nurse at all. I am going to go back to the office and tell them that he has lied. This man should not be a doctor, he is not fit to be doctor. No one should be treated the way this man treated my mother and I. I really hope he gets training on trauma informed care and how to properly communicate with patients. read more

I've had 20 major surgeries, seven (7) of them done at Orthopaedic Specialists. Dr. Amory performed an orthopedic surgical repair on my left knee in 2011. I saw him initially and he recommended an MRI which I got. He told me at the time that although he could do the repair surgery insurance would not approve a total knee replacement for three (3) more YEARS. He agreed I definitely needed a TKR at the time I saw him. And he was exactly right. (I had a TKR in 2014). Insurance now requires ALL PATIENTS to go through injections whether they work or not, and physical therapy before they will approve surgery. It didn't use to be this way, but now it is. Dr. Amory always spent a lot of time with me and answered all my questions. I need another knee surgery NOW (right this time) and I would not go to anyone other than Dr. Amory. I live near Temecula and my insurance won't cover him out of network and again, I am WAITING until I MOVE BACK to North County to see him again and have him do the surgery. That's how much I like him. He's a knowledgeable, awesome doctor and his pre and post surgery appointments were very through with no complications. He is well worth any wait. I've also always gone in with a very positive attitude. I knew that WITH an appointment I would wait, yes, sometimes for up to 2 hours to see any of the doctors. (I've seen 6 there) Agreed, the staff is overwhelmed and sometimes they are not the most conversational or warm and fuzzy. And I acknowledge the doctors overbook which is COMMON TODAY with doctors. Just wait until the socialized medicine is firmly entrenched the country. Most doctors have between 2,500 and 3,000 patients right now. You will be waiting for many more hours with EVERY doctor everywhere WITH an appointment! (I've waited 5 hours with Riverside County Medical Center WITH an appointment.) I would highly recommend Dr. Amory as well as the other surgeons and the office in general. He has been outstanding in my medical treatment. I've also always gone in with a very positive attitude. Dr David Amory of Orthopaedic Specialists of North County may be a good surgeon, I'm not sure yet because I haven't completely healed. What I do know is that he is rude, condescending and has terrible bedside manner. I had a left knee arthroscopic procedure and when I woke up he had already left the Carlsbad Surgery Center. None of the nurses knew if my surgery was a success or not. There were no notes, and he did not tell anyone the outcome for them to share it with me. I went home and the next day I called and was told by his assistant that I will find out about my surgery at my two week check up. I was out raged! He actually wanted me to wait two weeks to find out? I left my name and number and asked that he would call me. He did not call me that day and so I called the office again the following day and left another message. Late that second day he phoned me with an attitude. When I asked him why he didn't contact me he said that he talked to me about the surgery in the operating room and didn't I remember it? I told him no that I didn't remember anything and he laughed saying it was too bad, most patients don't remember after anesthesia. Really?!? He asked me if I received the pictures of my procedure and I said yes. Then he said, well didn't you look at them and see what I did? I was shocked because I can't tell what those pictures show. He chuckled condescendingly and launched into an explanation. What a jerk! I won't go to him again. read more

Dr. Amory is a miracle worker as far as I am concerned. He replaced my left hip 15 years ago and my right hip in January, 2018. They both are like I was born with them. I never had any bone pain after surgery, which I think is due to his expertise, as I certainly had pain prior to surgery. I think Dr. Amory is the best. read more

this man did a l. and r. knee replacement on me in2006 after his now disappeared associate Dr. Bentley ruined my r. knee in a ortho. surgery. didn't remove enough bone from the back of knee so only 90 degrees of range. the r. knee he totally destroyed! put the implant in crooked! after 5 years r. knee is worn out due to being put in crooked! He then continued to lie about the condition for a year! For 5 years I have been disabled because of his handiwork! A Dr. lane and a Dr. Santori are shocked by his lack of capability. Thank goodness I am going to be made whole again, no thanks to his deceiving. If you are able, run don't walk away from this man! read more

It's very apparent that Dr. Amory does not like his job. He has no empathy for people and that's sad. He needs to learn how to communicate better with his patients and family. His assistant Shirley is down right rude and has no business in any customer service job! read more

I'm almost questioning if the physician that I saw recently is the same guy as the comments below. While I know he is, I had much better care than the comments below. He came into the room and spent plenty of time examining me and explaining my problem. Then he came back to see me before my splint was placed to ensure that I had no further questions. His staff was very helpful and accommodating, as well. There was a bit of a wait time, but that happens when you see a surgeon. Emergencies happen! read more

I have been seen by Dr. Amory and could never recommend him. I was told to check for complaints against him at Tri-City Hospital. He reported he could not find justification for the severe pain I suffered. Three other doctors approved my disability including a State of California Independent Examiner who said I could never work again as a electrical engineer. It was found later I had arthritis and 3 out of four bad L disk after a discogram Dr. Amory failed to have performed. When trying to consult with Dr. Amory about his diagnosis, he refused to discuss his diagnosis. read more

Dr. Amory just did bilateral hip surgery on my 55-yr-old wife. He was courteous, professional, friendly, and entirely capable.

I think there are some very GRUMPY and mean people on this site against Dr. David Amory. Someone says his assistant tells his patients that he, (Dr Amory) lies to them all the time? People, get a grip. She still works for him. #1. When I needed surgery, I went to a person and friend who works in the O.R. and asked them who was the best Doctor to see to have my particular surgery done. (yes, I know someone) this person is a R.N. and works with many Surgeons. Dr. Amory was first on this RNs list for my particular surgery. You see, you have homework to do to find whats best for you etc., etc .Don't know anyone? I would ask around and find a O.R. RN to ask because these Nurses are not employed by the Doctors and they work with surgeons all the time. These reviews are very unfair for the most part. Do your home work. #2. When I talk to a Doctor about a problem I am having, I take a list of questions I may have to educate myself and learn about MY problem and make sure I have covered my bases. These questions seem to leave my mind at the appointment time if I do not write them down. CRS (google it) #3. Best to leave the winey, pity, and other attitudes home because it does not help you. As Dr. Amory does it, he gets down to business and tells you what it is and what needs to be done. If you want attention, go to a used car lot with a wad full of money or advertise in a paper that you need solar installed on your home and leave your phone #. PS everybody has to wait to see the Doctors, and usually takes some time. I am not good at this part either but hey, what cha gonna do? Cry? "ATTITUDES at HOME", remember? Get on your smart phone, go to google earth and do some traveling. I have a stupid phone so I can't go there. #4 Listen and follow your Doctors orders for they know best. Do not skimp on any physical therapy for this is a big part of recovery besides a good mental state and positive attitude. Things aren't going your way? GET OVER IT. It's your health, take charge and read and listen, and WRITE THINGS DOWN, If you do not, you may forget little things like hidden charges etc.etc... Also, the People in the office are great. For God's sake people, you are not the only person with troubles. Get off your ME, MYSELF and I day and move on. GET OFF THE PITY TRAIN at the front door. Man up or whatever. Everyone has problems. NOW on DOCTOR AMORY, thanks for the great job you did on my knee and to all the staff, They all care more than you know.
