So when I stumbled upon Icing On The Cupcake on J street-I was hooked right away. This shop has a pretty good location on 24th and J Street. They are connected to Chicago Fire restaurant. Parking on this busy street is mostly lots and street parking, so that can be challenging. The shop itself is pretty small and has limited seating areas inside. This particular visit was pretty unique in that I was able to pick up an "end-of-day" package of cupcakes which allowed me to try a bunch of flavors of cupcakes at a discounted price. The employee was pretty friendly-I informed him I was there to pick up my pre-packed collection of cupcakes and he went to the back and grabbed my box of cupcakes. I was able to pick up my cupcakes for only $5.99 for 5 cupcakes. My two favorites were the carrot cupcake and the peanut butter chocolate cupcake. They were very moist and very sweet-I ate those two very fast. Overall I would say my visit was a success and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to pick up a cupcake or two with or without a discount. Most importantly, the buttercream stayed in place and did not welt down! -It so temping to eat them all with the great taste, however, the cute butterflies/decor on them made it hard to want to eat them since they were so pretty! -We did have a few left over and took almost a week to finish (trying not to overload in sugar) and everything stayed in place and taste as good as day 1! 2) Chocolate covered strawberries -I love how all the strawberries were plumped, juicy and fresh!! -Had such a pretty design and each were different in how they arranged them with the butterflies and flowers for the white ones or the drizzle for the pink ones. Cost (2022): $112 total for the 2 dozen cupcakes and 2 dozen strawberries. -Had to order per dozen Overall: I was impressed on how everything turned out.
