After buying my dress at The White Gown (which was great), I was introduced to Natasha to tailor my…read moredress. Natasha altered it well, and it fit before I left the store - however, upon getting to my wedding and hanging up my dress, we realized the inner most layer of fabric still had about 10 safety pins in it and the hem was never finished. I was constantly stepping on the innermost layer. Also, she had told me she would add to the bustle on the dress to be more secure, which was not done. The bustle broke off the dress, and the back of the dress ended up having to be safety pinned in order for me to dance during the evening. If not for having very crafty friends and family, the poor job Natasha did would have really affected the evening. If given Natasha as a seamstress, ensure everything you've asked for is 100% completed before leaving.

Her attention to detail, calm presence, and experience made the entire process smooth and stress-free. My dress fit like it was made just for me (because after her magic, it basically was!). I wouldn't even recommend this place to my WORST ENEMY. No bride should have to go through what I…read moreexperienced here. From the beginning, the process was chaotic and misleading. At my initial appointment, I clearly explained the alterations I needed: unlining the bodice, taking in the dress, adding lace to the neckline, adding a bow at the waist, and adding a CRINOLINE TO THE SKIRT. I was quoted FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS, which already felt excessive. When I returned to review everything, the owner denied ever agreeing to unline the bodice and made me feel like I had imagined the conversation. It was incredibly frustrating and honestly upsetting. Only after I pointed out that it was written in THEIR OWN NOTES did they reluctantly agree to include it. Trying to adjust the scope to reduce costs turned into an even worse experience. When I called to REMOVE the crinoline from the skirt and asked for an updated price breakdown, I was met with SHOCKING hostility. The assistant raised her voice, spoke to me in an extremely disrespectful way, and told me to come pick up my dress if I was "trying to negotiate," which I was NOT. I was simply trying to make the alterations more affordable. She refused to provide an ITEMIZED breakdown and instead doubled down on being aggressive and dismissive. She also told me that if I removed the skirt alteration, the bodice alone would cost TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS and that she would NOT adjust pricing to reflect the reduced work. When I went to pick up my dress, the same assistant avoided eye contact and denied the entire interaction. A coworker who overheard the phone call came with me and confirmed EXACTLY how I was spoken to. Even then, there was NO apology, NO accountability, and NO attempt to make things right. The lack of professionalism, transparency, and basic respect is honestly SHOCKING, especially for a business working with brides during such an important time. I left feeling disrespected, dismissed, and completely unsupported. This was one of the WORST customer service experiences I've ever had. DO NOT go here unless you are prepared for a stressful and deeply disappointing experience. (Response to her comment below) At no point was I unwilling to follow professional guidance or understand the complexity of the work. I was very clear from the beginning about what I wanted done, including unlining the bodice, adding lace, a bow, and a crinoline to the skirt. I also understood that certain elements might be more labor-intensive, which is exactly why I asked questions and tried to adjust the scope. The issue was not simply pricing or feasibility -- it was HOW I was treated. When I called to remove one of the requested alterations to make the cost more manageable, I was not "shifting scope" irresponsibly, I was trying to work within a budget. During that call, I was spoken to in a way that was completely unacceptable. Your assistant raised her voice, was openly hostile, and refused to provide an ITEMIZED breakdown when I asked for one. I was told to come pick up my dress if I had questions, which is not a professional or respectful way to handle a client. To be clear, I did NOT walk away because of the complexity of the work. I chose not to move forward because of the lack of professionalism and the way I was treated. A coworker of mine overheard the phone call and accompanied me when I picked up my dress, and can confirm exactly how that conversation went. I understand that not every project is the right fit, and I respect a business declining work when necessary. However, that does not excuse dismissive or hostile communication with a client, especially when simply asking for clarity on pricing. I stand by my review. Brides deserve transparency, respect, and professionalism throughout the process -- regardless of whether the work ultimately moves forward or not.

The people seemed nice, but once I tried on the dress she wouldn't tell me how much it was going to cost until AFTER she did all the pinning. All I needed was a simple hem of the bottom of the dress, nothing more. Then once the pins were in, and I took the dress off, she told me $120. I was SHOCKED considering it is a simple 2 layer bridesmaid dress, and other places quoted $65 for SAME DAY alteration. I brought the dress in on a Monday, and was not able to pick it up until Friday afternoon. She even called me Friday morning to pick it up later in the afternoon because it still wasn't ready. Crazy for $120 if you ask me.

I described the job on the phone. The man refused to give me a price range. Instead I had to come in for an estimate. He told me he would send me an e-mail with an appointment, same day in an hour: 5:00. I never got the e-mail. When I arrived, I had to check in using a QR code. Again, I just wanted an estimate. They also insisted on knowing when I needed the dress back. I told them I would give them an answer when I knew how much it would cost. The saleswoman led me to the back and opened a curtain to the dressing room. I don't need to try it on because again, I just want an estimate. Another woman appeared and told me $125. What?!?! She said she'd check in the back to confirm. It's normally $145 but she's going to give me a "discount" to bring it to $125. They wouldn't just cut it with scissors. They would have a machine do it. Would a machine do it better????? Guess how much Saks would charge? $25!!!! And they would probably replace the dress if they mess up the job. This place is a racket. I guess the machine/the seamstress gets paid $25 and all the extra staff and the rent are what cost the extra $100. What has happened to NYC????? Small mom and pops are being put of business by these "luxury" places! It's all marketing people!!!! That's what you are paying for. What a waste of my time!!!!
