Absolutely awful experience. He kept our car for SIX WEEKS with little to no communication about what was going on. Dissuaded us from taking it to the dealer because he claimed he could fix it. Still made us pay $1600 for a car that wouldn't even run. He didn't fix it! We had it towed to the dealer where after a day or two they told us the engine was the problem (not the other random stuff he tried to fix) and it would cost way more to fix than it was worth so we had it taken to the junkyard. I am really angry that we had to pay so much for a car that was never going to run again and that he didn't actually fix. He seems to be too busy to actually focus on your car and never calls to tell you what is going on. You have to call him repeatedly to get any information. It is absolutely ridiculous to keep somebody's car for so long. We had come here a few times before and had OK experiences, but I will never ever ever come here again, and strongly urge you not to go here either. I think this experience turned me off of independent car mechanics for life. read more

Amina does it again! This is our third car that we've taken to Mohammed for repair. We also make sure to take out cars to Amina for oil changes and any other upkeep. Unfortunately our car was rear ended and we needed to replace the bumper. Mohammed has gone to bat for us with our insurance company when they've wanted to replace using parts that he, himself, would not recommend. Always goes above and beyond. Amina is a busy shop and the owner is a no BS, straight shooter communicator. I am sure, as in any business, it is hard to please everyone. I went to get a quote from another auto body shop and it was $800. I then came to Amina and the price wasn't even close! It was quite a bit lower. I had another repair done but this one resulted in dirt on my windshield visor and front center of my car roof. See images. I called and they did not apologize at all. We had a great experience with Amina Auto Repair. Obviously it isn't ideal when your car won't start and has to be towed out of your garage for service, but if it has to happen, Amina is there! AVOID THIS SHOP. If you asked me if I would recommend Amina two weeks ago, I would have done so without hesitation. We were loyal customers who have spent thousands there over the last couple years. That was before I was stranded in the mountains last Tuesday when my transmission on my 4 year old car overheated, and I found out that Amina used the wrong transmission fluid and way overfilled the system when they flushed it. The mistake is clear on their own paperwork--it shows that the wrong fluid was used and the amount was too much. Instead of making things right and taking responsibility (everyone makes mistakes), they denied they did anything wrong and my husband and I were spoken to in a demeaning manner and accused of damaging our own transmission. I was confident based upon their reputation in the neighborhood that they would treat us right--boy was I wrong. read more

I've been here twice. My first visit was a recommendation from a local parts store. When my belt was beginning to break apart. A failed repair by Len Jeep off Havana and Alameda. Muhammad (owner) was very helpful and provided a quick repair so I was not late to work. After the repair I asked if there was anything else that I would need to have repaired. Other than the shocks & Struts; nothing. I would give that visit 4 stars. It was that visit that inspired me to return to have my clutch repaired. I drove my car there and when I arrived I told Muhammad what was wrong and he proceeded to tell me that he had told me this needed to be fixed. A characteristic of his that would become a great annoyance later. He drove the vehicle and diagnosed a ball bearing was loose. I was given a basic quote and a completion date of 3 Days. Just in time for Thanksgiving. When the 3rd day arrived, I never received a call. I called with an hour left before he closed to find out if my car was ready. Paid the bill over the phone and arranged for pickup on Thanksgiving. The shop was going to be closed for 4 Days. When I went to pick up the car after work. As soon as I pushed down the clutch I knew something was not right. The clutch pedal went straight to the floor with no resistance. The car barely started, they had ran my battery down nearly dead. Dropped the key in the a lot and left a very unhappy note and VM. Now I'm stuck for 4 more days without a car and additional money spent on a rental car. I made arrangements with work so that I could be there first thing Monday morning. When I arrived my car was parked across the street. Muhammad proceeded to tell me that he had driven the car this morning, which was a lie. His mechanic did not drive it after he completed the work before and there wasn't a chance that Muhammad was able to drive it himself. Muhammad said the mechanic didn't bleed the clutch line after the initial work. He did not offer to get it done right away. Instead took the entire day. He again said he would call me when it was ready. He never called. I chose to drive down to test drive the car while he was there. But when I arrived Muhammad told me it wasn't ready and they ordered the Master cylinder part and it won't be in until the next day. My work schedule didn't allow me to pick it up till Friday and it was Monday. Thursday came and I made arrangements to pick the car up that night. Called ahead of time to let them know and was told the car was not ready. At this point I was done. They had the car for 3 Extra Days more than they said they needed it. When I went to pick up my car that night. Not only was the clutch not fixed the battery was completely dead. WTF??? The next morning I had my car towed from Amina Auto to PEP Boys. Amina Auto had my car for 12 days. PEP Boys had it for 2 and I drove it home on day 3. The Master Cylinder was installed incorrectly by Amina Auto and at this point I'm not sure I needed a whole new clutch kit. But can't do anything about that, they disposed of the original clutch parts. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AMINA AUTO. read more

Amina's staff went above and beyond to fix my car after hours on a Friday for a reasonabl price! I had my car towed to Amina at 5:40 on a Friday. The staff said they'd take a look, even though they were scheduled to close in 20 minutes. The mechanic ran a system check and determined it was just a dead battery, which he replaced. I was out the door in 30 minutes, no attempts to sell me any additional services or anything. The woman working the desk had excellent customer service, and even gave me a 10% teacher discount! The waiting room is nicely decorated, clean, and comfy -doesn't feel at all like a greasy garage. I will definitely be making Amina my household mechanic. read more

I took my car to this shop at the recommendation of a friend. I also saw all the rave reviews...Unfortunately, my experience was adequate, not stellar. I had my car towed there without an appointment, so the fact that I had to wait a couple days to get it looked at is completely understandable. It did not start and also had some other electrical problems. I was not sure if they were related. Communication started out well, but after a few days I seemed to drop off their radar. I did not hear from them unless I called them first. They had to order the starter for my car and that took at least a week. If I wanted any updates, I had to initiate the phone calls. Sometimes I was told by Mohamed that I would get a call back. usually, he called back. At one point he told me my car was ready. But there was no explanation as to what was fixed. I asked him if the radio and my locks were now working.....He had to call me back after checking with the mechanics and found out that he spoke too soon. They had not yet determined my electrical problem thus, my car was not ready to be picked up after all. Thankfully, the electrical problem was a minor fix. They had my car over two weeks total and I still am unclear why everything took so long. Car seems to be working fine, however.... Maybe it was bad timing, not sure..... but I am not as impressed as other people seem to be. addendum: After writing this, I read some of the unrecommended reviews and discovered that several people have actually shared my experience. After 10 weeks, $415 in incorrect fixes, $250 in tows, and $200+ in ride shares due to this shop's lack of diligence, professionalism, and expertise, I finally decided to take my vehicle to the dealership. Turns out my battery, which was under warranty, was leaking acid and causing all my problems. 10 weeks of "diagnosing" an electrical issue, and they never even thought to check the battery. I had my car repaired here after an accident this past winter and I have to say I have been pretty disappointed given the reviews I had read prior to choosing the place. They left the part they repaired misaligned, they had my car almost two months, they used a nail and washer and left it on the inside of my door handle bolted in where there was previously nothing there and all of these things I was willing to overlook until I noticed they used a very cheap paint that almost immediately started chipping off and now with each rain just gradually gets worse and worse. They replaced a headlight bulb and connector yesterday. They squeezed me in without an appt and fixed my problem, which was good, but I feel like they over charged me on the labor cost of $100.. I was happy with the service and to get back on the road with my headlight fixed but to charge almost an hour labor to change a bulb and connector is a lot. I have brought my car for service here for over a year now. Their service and prices have always exceeded my expectations. I don't know much about cars, so it's nice to be able to trust the folks here who go above and beyond their job to explain what services are being done and why. Their prices are better than other shops I used in the past. They are also kind to offer loaner cars, free of charge, when my car was in the shop. I recently found out that my car has an oil consumption issue and these guys did the research and printed the paperwork that I need to take to the manufacturer and have the engine parts replaced. Shout out to Daniel for helping me with this issue which went beyond the scope of his job. The owner, Mohammed, has always went above and beyond explaining what's needed and making sure I get the most affordable prices on parts. He was also kind to have my old car towed and transferred to the junkyard free of charge. This is a very Shady place. I was repeatedly lied to. They messed up my leather seats in the back by stuffing my whole bumper and grill in it! Who does that?! I decided to have my car towed out of his shop and transferred to another shop and was treated extremely unprofessionally. He would say one thing to me, then another thing to the insurance adjuster, then another to the other shop, and the tow company, spinning everyone in circles for simple things. Amina is responsible for some lost parts, lost time and additional damage to my car. Avoid this place and find somewhere more reputable for your car repairs. read more

First they had my car in the shop a whole week before they fixed it, i was calling in constantly checking in on my car because they would never return any of my calls. When my car was finally "fixed" the same noise was going on, therefore, i had to take my car back another week! This business deserves far more than 5 stars! They went above and beyond. I brought our car in after 2 other mechanics said they couldnt figure it out. They squeezed me in last minute (story of my life) and were completely accommodating. When a part didnt come in on time, my daughter started to cry because it meant we werent going to be able to leave for our vacation for a few more hours. The owner went in the back and brought out a toy car for her to "fix." To me it just showed how much he truly cares. He also was AMAZING at at explaining the problem to me. I have been taking my car to Amina for about a year now and I would not consider taking it anywhere else. Mohammed and Laura are always so professional and friendly. More importantly, they keep my car running for so much less than the dealer wanted to charge. He never tries to "up sell" more services than I need. The dealer and oil change places always have a list of 5 "urgent" repairs that need to be done whereas Mohammed looks at it and tells you whether it needs to be fixed now or can wait until the car actually needs it. He knows that I drive my kids around in my car and wants it to run as well and as safely as he would if I was driving his kids in it. This place really is as good as it gets! read more

I took my car ($80,000 Infinity) to Amina to get a simple oil change and when I picked my car up there was huge scratches on the front right bumper. They initially apologized and buffed the area out. After a few car washes the area was still noticeable, I took it back to them to see if they could repair it. They claim that the scratches were not that deep and said I must have hit something! No manger was there for me to talk and no one knew what happened to it. Two days later I called and spoke to the manger ( Mohammed).I told him the situation and asked him if there were cameras at his location. Mohammed told me that there were but he was not going check the footage as it takes too much time. This has to be one of the most unprofessional places that is been my misfortune to go to. After reading all the great reviews on Yelp about how great this place was I was really taken aback as to how unprofessional and uncommunitive that this business is. I arrived on a Monday to get a estimate about getting to door handles fixed on my vehicle I was told to call on Thursday to get a confirmation time for Friday to get my vehicle fixed I called Thursday evening the phone was answered by Laura who told me it was no problem come in in the morning to get my vehicle serviced after having to repeat a couple of times what time should I be there and still only get in the morning I finally had to give her a time and get her to agree to the time that I wanted to come in, when I got there on Friday morning it was a little after 8 a.m. a little closer to 830. I was told to leave my keys in my vehicle there and I was told by Mohammed that my vehicle will be ready in a couple of hours, now in the world that I live in, a couple of hours usually means two hours because we all know a couple is a pair and a pair is two so if someone says I'll be ready in a couple hours to me it's natural to assume that you mean two hours I arrived back at the shop 5 minutes before 11 a.m. my car was not finished and it hadn't even been touched it hadn't even been moved from the spot that I parked it at. I went inside the shop Muhammad was sitting behind a desk talking on the phone laughing, and as a afterthought just got around to ordering my parts, right then! Laura was behind the desk. When she asked me how she can help me I let her know that I was told to come back in 2 hours to pick up my vehicle immediately from behind a desk Mohammed said I said a couple of hours as if it made any difference so I sat down and I waited to be told whatever I needed to be told about my car. It took them 15 minutes before they had the courage to tell me that my part hadn't even arrived and to let me know that it wasn't their fault that the part hadn't arrived although no one wants to take accountability for the fact that one you knew my part didn't arrive already to you could have told me that when I wasted the gas to drive all the way over there and let me know that the part hadn't come, and you didn't know what time my car was going to be finished and three you could have called me even before I left the car there initially to even begin the two hour wait time. This really irritated me because he was a big gigantic waste a time when you knew you didn't have the part or anything else required for the job, the only reason why this review even gets one star is because I did get my money back but they made me waste a week knowing they didn't have a part, made me waste my morning knowing they didn't have the part and made me waste my time walking around the neighborhood which is by the way is not the safest neighborhood to be in knowing that they didn't have the part at all then to add insult to injury he nonchalantly tells me that oh you can come tomorrow and get your car done and I'll have it done tomorrow but still once again he cannot guarantee that he will have the part he cannot guarantee that it would only take 2 hours it was just a hot mess all the way around and I was supremely irritated the main reason why I was focusing on have in my car done last week was because my daughter has to stay in the hospital and there's no way absolutely no way that I can keep changing appointments because people don't know what is going on in their own shops. A simple phone call to let me know that things were not going as planned would have saved this nasty review and able to save their reputation do not be fooled by the nice newspaper clipping that they have in the office and they aren't even accredited by BBB Bureau, when I looked him up on a website they are not on there so do not be fooled by anything in the shop that makes it seem like they have it together because they absolutely do not maybe you might catch them on a good day I'm not sure but my experience was bad bad bad I gave them two thumbs down absolute zero. read more
