There is a beauty and harmony to music, that one probably will never find anywhere else. It reminds…read moreme of a tv show i once saw called Babylon 5. In one episode, one of the protagonists Captain Sheridan, is trying to learn about and from one of the more mysterious characters on the show, an enigmatic being named Kosh. Kosh takes Sheridan to a place he had never been before and tells him to go into a room. Kosh stays outside and Sheridan asks, what's in there? Kosh only replies: "One moment of perfect beauty.". Sheridan enters the darkened corridors and is struck by the beauty of music in the form of a Gregorian chant. When he comes out speechless and a changed man, he is asked by one of his friends what he saw... all he could respond... was "beauty... in the dark." Though, i do not believe i do that scene justice, i believe it shows the power of music. How it can move someone and inspire. It is why i love music, and especially classical music. Ever since I was a child, and was exposed to it, i have been enthralled. I was excited, then to finally hear a symphony orchestra play again since I moved to Ohio since before the pandemic. The event was titled "From Madrid to Mexico", featuring compositions from those nations or inspired from them. The music truly moved me. The compositions played were the following: Intermezzo from Goyescas by Enrique Ganados From the Concierto De Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo Allegro Con Spirito Adagio Allegro Gentile Selections from Carmen Suites by Georges Bizet Aragonaise Les Toreadores Habenera Chanson du Toreodor Le Cid Ballet Suite by Jules Massenet Castillane Andalouse Aragonaise Aubade Catalane Madrilene Navarraise Danzon No.2 by Arturo Marquez Special Encore of Estrellita by Manuel Ponce. All of these were wonderfully played. Adagio from the Concierto De Aranjuez is one of my favorite classical songs, so I was so ecstatic to hear it! The guitar just has a way of plucking at my heart strings. But, what really hit me emotionally was Estrellita which only was played as an encore. Whenever I would stay with my aunt as a child, God rest her soul, she would play this song before I would go to bed. It means alot to me personally, and u never heard the song again after she passed. I never knew the name of the song until this concert. So thankful to have heard it again, and know the name of it so I can hear it again in the future. After the event, there was cocktails and cake and the chance to meet and talk to members of the orchestra. That was so cool! Really my only gripe is that Lima Symphony Orchestra has something called the "friends of the symphony", and almost all their luncheons are on a weekday. That makes it hard for people who live over an hour away and work... i certainly want to be a friend of the orchestra. All in all, its a great orchestra... very talented... and love how they try to get the community more involved. If you love music, buy some tickets! It will give you the experience of listening to a few hours of perfect beauty.

The event was "Music by Candlelight", in which the symphony would play inside the church while the place was only lit by candlelight. The natural beauty of the church was amplified due to hearing heavenly music and being lit in candlelight. Also felt Medieval. The pieces that were played were: Umoja by Valerie Coleman Serenade No.2 Op.16 by Johannes Brahms Serenade, Op.44 by Antonin Dvorak It was a wonderful evening! My family enjoyed every moment and wished it would have lasted longer!

I think its wonderful that the Lima Symphony Orchestra creates an event to get kids into classical music. It was also cheap, $20 for any seat in the house?!?!? Heck i got tickets just cuz they were so cheap! How else are you going to get to sit so close to the stage for so low a price?!?!? The event had coplayers from a comics shop within Lima, Alter Ego Comics, which I plan to visit in the future. They had heroes like Captain America, Starlord, Wonder Woman and others. They also had cosplayers from the Star Wars universe, and even though I do not believe Jedi are superheroes, Sith are certainly supervillains. I will say, the cosplayer they had dressed up as Anakin Skywalker, absolutely nailed him! He got the voice, the body language and attitude! Kudos to him! During the time the orchestra played they had the cosplayers come out, they also had the cosplayers in character if their characters theme was playing. I think that was a nice touch to keep kids engaged. I loved it because a-lot of these themes I have always loved, and id pay more than $20 to listen to Imperial March played by ah orchestra. These were the songs played: 1. Main Title from Star Wars 2. Theme from Batman (1989 film) 3. Theme from Spiderman 4. Theme from The Avengers 5. Imperial March 6. Leia's Theme 7. Across the Stars 8. Theme from The Mandalorian 9. March from Captain America 10. Theme from the Incredibles 11. Cruela De Vil 12. Wonder Woman Suite 13. Main Title from Superman It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

The food was good, chicken and bacon wrapped filet, veggie and potato was my meal. Drinks were poured right all night long too. Wonderful place to celebrate the union of my son's long time friend and for my son to give the best mans speech. I'll never forget it.

The place is expansive and complete with a riser stage; it is about the size of two full size basketball courts. I felt is was better for the reception than the wedding, where the seating can be split into sides, opening up a large dance floor. For the wedding though intimacy was lost in the space, and some were forced to witness the I Do-s from a hard angle, but it wasn't too bad. The place has a nice PA system for music, two LCD screens, and twin golden chandeliers adding class to the environs. The bar sits out in the lobby. Not sure if UNOH supplies the bar tenders, but they did a fantastic job keeping the line moving. I would know, I was out there a lot. I needed to drink. No way am I so old to have a hitched niece! I recommend for any events calling for lots of space.

The selection of food items is pretty good but the cost of them is ridiculous as well. I went in on a Tuesday evening to catch a movie with my friend and that place was a mess. The lobby area had popcorn all over the ground, there was one worker to check people out for movie tickets and concessions, and once I got into the actual theater for the movie I noticed how run down things have started to look. The chair I sat in was a little ripped up, the cup holder was gross, and the floors were covered in all sorts of food litter. I used to stop in here about 6 times a year, now I limit it to maybe once a year because it's just not great. Go buy the movie when it comes out and watch it at home with your friends. It'd be cheaper and cleaner (depending on who you are).
