Home of the square taco! We had 3 grilled fish tacos with black beans and rice! The chips wee hot and had the right amount of salt, the salsa had a nice heat to it! Delicious! The refried beens were very tasty, a little spice taste to them but these are the best tasting refried beans I've ever had. You can mix and match the tacos you get as part of the platter (you get 3). They also have 2 special hot sauces. Both are spicy but definitely have different flavors to them which add an amazing taste to the tacos. The service was very fast and efficient. Looking for a terrific hole in the wall Mexican place? You've found it! We actually wanted to find a Celiac friendly Mexican place - when I mentioned Celiac, the waitress immediately showed us what was gluten free on the menu and explained how they properly manage things in the kitchen (changing gloves, etc.). Can't tell you how awesome it is to find a place that immediately gets it. So if there are any kind of allergies in your family, you should be able to eat here safely. They know what they're doing. The food was on par. My husband ordered a burrito that was basically the size of his head. He only ate half and had the rest as a breakfast burrito the next morning. I enjoyed the shrimp tacos while my gluten free kid LOVED the gluten free beef quesadillas. He was in heaven (which doesn't happen often for him). This was my 3rd visit to KW and last time when I had a taco craving I went to another popular spot and felt pretty let down so I came to Amigos with low expectations but pretty hopeful. And I'm happy to report that I was actually impressed, between the value and quality along with atmosphere I was happy as a clam. I ordered the 3 taco platter special which was alot, next time I probably would just get the tacos. Everything was sooo flavorful and delicious I was actually upset I got full so fast. The service was friendly and consistent well worth supporting. As for the environment they offer outdoor seating, indoor seating and quite the space. I would totally recommend and plan on making this mainstay lunch/dinner spot when I return to KW. read more

Apparently this is a hidden gem when you want late night good Mexican. After a day of hard work (yes, people work while visiting KW) it was time to wind down. You always need a place where you can soak up the alcohol and people watch at the same time. We sat at the bar facing the street, as it was closing time and they were gracious enough to feed us. Best tacos on the island. The Mexican Fried Potatoes are an absolute must. I loved the Carnitas, Baja Fish, and Shredded Chicken. My wife loved the grilled shrimp taco. Went in to buy a t-shirt on our last day. Got no customer service and we had to flag down 3 employees to pay for it. When the slim brunette arrived No conversation was exchanged doing the transaction as if we were invading HER day! Not even a thank you nor have a nice day. She just walked away, no bag-nothing but I did get my receipt. Was expecting at least a TY or smile as we gave her. This left us questioning about our purchase and the restaurant. The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer's mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind. We had been eyeing this place when we wanted to try Mexican while visiting the Keys and got here for a dinner time. The restaurant was quite packed with both indoor and outdoor seating offered simultaneously and luckily we were not made to wait at all. We were quickly attended by the waitress Tamara who was nice to offer suggestions based on our vegetarian diet. There can be no complaints on the quantity as the food came in large portions. We tried the nachos with chips, roasted corn on the cob, veggie tacos, cheese quesadilla and a veggie bowl. Needless to say the taste was pretty amazing. I rate this place a star lesser as it mandates customers to wear masks as we enter but they don't practice social distancing by making us sit apart even by 2 ft if not for 6 ft. Their menu advertises that they are the only place that used square corn tortillas which can hold more filling and it definitely seemed true in my case. Amigos was our last dinner in key west and I was not disappointed Many of the restaurants we came across seemed touristy; with the same items and very similar (higher) price points. We were looking for a good meal, substancial amount, and a decent price. They were able to seat us quickly here despite it appearing crowded. Get the flour tortillas. We accidentally received the corn tortillas for our tacos to go and they were soggy and falling apart. Not nearly as good as the flour tortillas. Baja fried fish taco - really good. Great sauce and the fry on it was light Grilled shrimp taco - amazing. The sauce on it was really good and the shrimp were plump and juicy Grilled fish taco - least favorite. Still tasty but they didn't put enough fish in there it seems Black beans- delicious. Lots of flavor and a hearty amount The rice was nothing special but pouring the beans over it along with a few squirts of the really hot green hot sauce made it pretty good. Chicken quesadilla - standard. Nothing to write home about but if you order the large it is packed with meat. Mexican fried potatoes- really good. The sauce on top would have been a nice addition to the quesadilla. The potatoes were crispy but not too hard and they tasted fresh cut and fresh fried. Like they just made them.
