I do not believe I've ever actually given a one star review before, but this is going to be my first. The only reason for a one star review is because I couldn't give zero stars, and our server redeemed the one star because she was awesome. However, her awesomeness could not overcome the overwhelming disappointment that this place is. First off it's not Mexican food, it's garbage. I'm going to post a photo of a so-called Chile Relleno. It was utter filth and a complete insult to Mexican cuisine everywhere. It was so terrible that it didn't even come close. I'm not talking about a bad chili relleno, I'm talking about something so disgusting that I almost got it from the table and walked out without paying - but I paid for the swill that was prepared. Then there are the frijoles! I mean seriously I've had better stuff out of a tin, and I'm not even kidding about that! Cold, flavorless, and not even completely cooked. It's like nobody in that kitchen had ever even heard of Mexico. Sadly for them they had a diner last evening that has not only heard of it, but has been there. I lived in El Paso Texas for a number of years and I've gotten used to disappointing Mexican food ever since leaving there. But this restaurant takes the cake by far. The sad part is that just down the street there is authentic Mexican food prepared correctly, a number of real Mexican restaurants. There is some nostalgia to this place because it's located in the old Peerless mill which dates back to before World War II, but the nostalgia doesn't make up for bad food. If you own this restaurant and are reading this review, shame on you for defrauding your customers! Part of a group of restaurants owned by the same family, this location is the most interesting. The neighborhood is sketchy but the restaurant is nice. It's located next to the apocalyptic abandoned Peerless Mill. It would make a great album cover! The place was hopping and everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals. My family had a little of everything. I really enjoyed the chimichanga with the vegetables. The guacamole dip was amazing too! You get a lot of food for the price and it is flavorful, fresh, and reasonably priced. I wouldn't call it the most authentic but it's really good. The service was friendly but a bit slow. I would definitely go back if I lived there. read more

Food is always great, I tried something different. I ordered a steak chimichanga. The only thing that was disappointing was it had green peppers & onions in it. The menu did not list it, otherwise I would have asked to have it made without. Restaurant is always clean, and they sat me so I could watch the GA game. read more

Among all of the wonderful places the Chattanooga area has to offer, there is a new gem to add to the crown. Amigos at Peerless Mill is a must visit! Kudos to this business owner who decided to roll the dice and become one of the brave hero's who step up and pioneer the revitalization of our community. It's located in part of Rossville GA that most people in the past would check to ensure their doors were locked at the red light or flat out avoid. This restaurant along with one or two other business owners have taken the risk and it is paying off. I have always wondered why these massive abandoned mills were not taken and turned into condos with a shopping district long ago. With the beautiful views of Lookout Mountain and the 5 minute drive to Downtown Chattanooga, TN, it always seemed to be a no brainer to me. Looks like change is finally coming! Now to the good stuff! The food here is fantastic! Beautifully presented and even better to eat. The dining room looks empty in the pics, but it's because we got there just after 11:00 AM when they open. It was packed by the time we left. I had the Pollo Picoso with Carnitas. It is also available with Steak, Chicken or Shrimp, but I am a huge carnitas fan and if you are as well, you know carnitas is either awesome, or like eating a dirty wet sock. These guys have it right! This dish was absolutely amazing! Carnitas had a wonderful sear yet each bite was juicy and succulent, with caramelized onions running through them. Comes with a salsa verde that is very tasty, along with perfectly cooked refried beans and rice. You will not see a film over the bean or pieces of rice that will crack a tooth on, every bite is heaven! The street tacos are great as well. Tender steak was chosen as filling for these. Tender, with perfect grilling made for some of the best I have ever tried. Everything is so fresh. With some serious skills coming out of the kitchen, and an exceptionally friendly staff, what is not to love?!??? *maybe a little more tequilas in those raspberry margaritas? No one is perfect, but these guys are close! Highly recommend you give them a try. First restaurant in what I hope will be many more to come if this revitalization takes hold. This is by far the best Amigos - the space and lighting is modern and inviting. We have yet to order a dish we have not thoroughly enjoyed, and this has become one of our regular spots. The spinach & chorizo dip is phenomenal - a perfect symphony of flavors and textures you do not want to miss. Their Tour de Mexico is the ultimate deal - you get to try many different things (my favorite being the chile relleno). The flautas have a nice crisp with tender and juicy, flavorful meat inside with an interesting sauce that complements it perfectly. My husband had the Mucho Macho burrito - it is massive and filled with all kinds of good stuff and is well worth the price for how much food you get. read more

I want to like them. I keep trying their food and I'm continually disappointed. Their food always tastes good, but the execution/presentation of their dishes make it so awkward and frustrating to actually eat. This time, their tamale was just a big blob of dough with hardly any filling and their burrito was a soggy wet mess. Maybe it's just me, but I thought the whole point of a burrito was to be able to pick it up and eat it. They just need to spread their masa a whole lot thinner and add more filling to their tamales. The burrito filling needs to be drained before putting it in and then the burrito needs to be packaged away from side dishes that leak and make it soggy. A few simple changes and this place would be off the chain! read more

Amigos has been recommended by many friends, and surely didn't disappoint. I wouldn't call this an authentic Mexican restaurant, but it is a step up from your traditional American Tex -Mex fair. The salt and fat is right on point and everything we ordered was delicious. Save the Beef Tamal. It was a bit overdone, and the server very kindly took it off our bill. I will be honest this was my favorite amigos. Mostly because for the last two years we have lived here it has been pet friendly on the patio and was within walking distance of our home. Now they have changed the rules because of idiots who don't restrain their animals. However, ignorant people can have their phone on speaker and an unruly child and that's fine. Our waiter Chris showed no manners while helping us out. It seemed like he refused to serve our table. When we tried to get him he walked away and we had to flag him down twice to get a box, he did not wait to ask if we needed any service before he walked away looking unhappy dealing with us. They are sweet & a margarita should not be sweet in spite of what many restaurants want u to believe. Salsa very good. Hubbie had excellent Barbacoa street tacos and I had the best chicken flautas I've ever had. They were rolled w/the onion, tomatoes & bell peppers in which they cooked. Plenty filling & not fried too hard. Rice didn't have much flavor. Guacamole was very good. read more

Love everything about this place! Our server Emily was excellent - so attentive, and personable. I wish she worked at every restaurant we go to! We appreciated the manager checking on us too and she even recommended a few delicious changes to what we were thinking of ordering. Just wish they had Charro beans. Walked in...walked out. Sorry I didn't feel like a person I felt like this was an assembly line. The reviews here are very very good and if this is your style that's great! The bar has no bartenders. Huh? So ok we won't sit there. Then we wanted the bar area yet...the guy walking us to be seated elsewhere and barely listened to our requests. He just said this way as we followed. Menus were thrown down and so I told my husband we are leaving. Don't get me wrong it's nice inside but I felt like a number. Yeah hard pass. Guess where we went...Los Charros 5 minutes from our home. Nice, open space. My husband always get the hard shell beef tacos and won't get anything else because they are so good. I'm always pleased with my food here. The service is usually good. Be prepared to wait if you go with a large group on the weekend. I've never had to wait with a party of two, not even on a Sunday. Not sure how I feel about the old Peerless articles posted around the restaurant. Some of them have racist content. read more
