I'm a huge fan of the GREEN SAUCE! Oh my, its delicious! I typically order the chicken fajitas and they are always terrific!

Ate here with a party of 5. The waiters kept up with our chips and salsa (their red salsa is so, so good!). We ordered a big dish of their white queso, which is my husband's favorite. The food came out hot and delicious, as always. We ordered 2 chimis, 1 quesadillas, 1 Tito's rice bowl, and one enchilada plate. All were very satisfied when we left. I feel bad writing this review because the owners are such nice people. Went with my mom about a week ago. The server was wonderful; very sweet and attentive. The food, however....just not good at all. My mom's chicken nachos were cold. My enchiladas were just not good and the beans and rice tasted like something out of cans. The chips and salsa were good as usual but both of our orders were just weak and very bland. We did not want to say anything, so we just finished what we could and left. Not sure if we will be back. With Loca Luna within their eyesight they really need to step up their game. read more

I witnessed an employee get SCREAMED AT (which I now know is a manager) in front of everyone in the restaurant because she made a tiny mistake on my order which was no big deal; I actually could have gone without saying anything. This happened about two weeks ago. She actually gave us wonderful service despite obviously having her hands full in an understaffed restaurant on a sunday morning. I returned last night & requested to be sat in her section but unfortunately she wasn't working. Good food, great service, HORRIBLE management. I was in Texarkana for a lunch and I usually do one of the chains because they simply lunch pretty well. This particular office wants to help support the local businesses and suggested amigo Juan. Being the guy who also likes helping local businesses it was a no brainer. Ordering was simple. Called the day before for a catering order. Took my order and said it would be ready around 11:30. Perfect. When I got to the restaurant they weren't quite ready for my order, so I waited maybe 5 additional minutes. But it came out promptly. Now my one beef us normally it's packaged in a bag, box, or similar. They just put the pans of food in my hatch area. Really would have helped to have a box or bag to get it inside instead of making 3 trips. Also lost some of the rice when I had a small accident. Now for the food: This stuff is delicious. Their salsa, white queso, and most importantly the fajita beef and chicken were amazing. Tender. Flavorful. Really really good. So good I almost went back for dinner. The chips at the Wake Village location are horrible and made probably last week and refried over and over again! Chips are cheap and super easy to make. Buy corn tortillas and cut into chips- fry in oil for a couple of minutes, salt! The End! Seriously,how is it possible to mess them up??????? DO BETTER! read more

Was in Texarkana and amigo Juan looked like a nice place to eat. The atmosphere was very good I felt like I was in mexico. The chairs and tables are very on theme. The chips and salsa where warm and tasty. I ordered the tito's rice bowl with chicken. And it was fresh warm Delicious. In the rice had peas carrots and corn. The chicken was grilled fresh and hot! also the melted cheese was warm and flavorful. Our sever was very nice and friendly. our waiter she was also very nice. the bathrooms are clean and well stocked. We recently ate at Amigo Juan in Texarkana. The inside was Colorful and clean. Service was good and the restaurant was quite busy. Chips and salsa were good and our food came out pretty quickly. Visiting a friend in Texarkana for the weekend she took me to this spot. I expected good Tex-Mex and had my expectations met! It was Friday night so and busy. We waited in our car maybe 15 minutes after checking in. Service was quick and attentive. Salsa, chips and white queso could have been my meal as they were so good!!! I ordered the C8 - Cheese enchilada, tamale, tostada, beans and rice meal. After all the chips I was only able to eat the enchilada at the restaurant but take out was yummy the next morning! Whenever in town, we like to eat at Amigo Juan. It has been a favorite of my family's for many years and we look forward to treating ourselves when in the area. Recently, we've had a few bad experiences, all within two months. When my son and I were in town shopping, he took me there for a late lunch. I ordered fajitas. We waited some time for them to be delivered to the table. When our order arrived, I found an extremely long, dark hair woven among the fajitas. The waitress offered to have it remade, but, frankly, at that point I was ill and didn't eat at all. I gave it another try about three weeks later when in town again. I ordered a la carte tacos this time. They were sub-par. I've had better at the drive-thru. I didn't say anything but was thoroughly disappointed. Just this week, thinking that the last two experiences were flukes, I stopped by again. This time, I ordered nachos. They came to the table rather quickly and were stone cold on a stone cold plate. The cheese on top had not been melted in spots. I asked for a take-out box and warmed them up when I got home. It appears that the restaurant has suffered some quality control issues in the kitchen lately. New help? Poorly trained staff? New management? I'm not sure about the cause of inferior food being delivered to the table at Amigo Juan, but I do know the solution for me is not to go back. read more

This is by far the BEST food I've had in Texarkana. We just moved here in July, and just now (Oct) tried this. Fell in love when we walked in. Beautiful handmade from Mexico carved & pained booths, chairs & tables; excellent waiter--super nice to my kid too, but the food! OMG! I had chihuahua shrimp, plus they brought red & green salsa, plus we ordered white quest, all was delicious, more food than we could eat. There was nothing I didn't love about this restaurant! Chips: thin & warm & perfect Salsa: green & red and verrrry good White Queso: warm, creamy & delish Shrimp chihuahua: heaven on a plate! We were driving through Texarkana today and decided to stop for lunch. This place is a little off the "beaten path", and we wouldn't have come this far off the interstate without the Yelp reviews. Food was delicious. Their cheese dip has a bit more spice/peppers than my husband usually likes, and he loved it. (Pleasant surprise haha). Our service was great, prices were really good for the portion sizes. Also, the place was really clean and staff was very attentive to cleaning off tables, etc. which is always a good sign. We really had no complaints at all! We'll definitely swing by again in the future. read more

Talk about busy place during Saturday night dinner and the plates were coming out hot and ready! Visiting from San Antonio I had to try the street tacos and it lived up to its name, I recommend it. The staff teams up to help each other when the orders get big which in my book get things out faster to the customer, that's a big Kudos in my book. This food was terrible.. It lacked flavor of any sort.. I found gristle and jello like chicken skin in my burrito. The beans tasted like they had a lot of beef fat in it. And the red salsa tasted like the tomatoes came out of a can. I will never return to this location. read more

I don't know what everyone is complaining about, I've been here 30 times and every time was excellent! The Shrimp Chihuahua is probably the best thing on the menu, but everything I've tried has been good! The salsa is always the perfect consistency and not too spicy, the chips always crisp, and the white queso is so good that my husband and I drove 3 hours just to eat it! It's definitely improved and deserves your business. Will try to go back as often as possible! read more

This will be my favorite Mexican restaurant near where I live. My wife and I had dinner there. We were early so it was not crowded. I had the shrimp and steak skewer. My wife had the shrimp tacos. We stopped here on our way back to Texas after having had a mediocre experience at a restaurant down the street the last time we came through. This place was just what the doctor ordered. The salsa, tomatillo salsa, and quest blanco were great. The strawberry punch was also tasty. I enjoyed the taco and tamale. The cheese enchilada could have been better. Love to eat here every time I drive in from Dallas which is usually every weekend. Food is great and staff has been wonderful. My only issue I have had is when I order a cocktail it always has a weird taste to it. I've tried the margaritas and another drink that had the word "Shark" in it, can't remember exactly what it was, but every time I get that nasty taste. That is my only complaint here. read more

Tried this place for the first time today. Won't be back. It was gross and over priced. I ordered 2 soft tacos. How the hell do you make 2 soft tacos taste literally like dirt? Couldn't even eat it. I wasn't aware how much I was charged till I looked at my receipt when I left. The lunch 2 soft tacos were supposed to be 6 and some change and got charged almost 9. The chips and salsa was disgusting tasted old af. And i for the life of me wouldn't recommend that green sauce. I took one bit of that and had to chug my water to get the taste out of my mouth. I could of went to taco bell and had a better meal than this place. And another thing, it took literally 2 minutes from the time we ordered to getting our food? That's not normal. Had to be sitting out because it sure tasted like it. I think the only almost redeeming part was our waitress the 3 times we saw her was nice. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. read more

The portions are large and the prices were very reasonable. We tried both types of cheese dips and the white queso is definitely the best, salsa and chips were up there with some of the best I have had. Just left this restaurant, the food and drinks were good. But the server on the other hand needs to work on his people skills. They brought out our food and he gave a few of us the wrong plate. No big deal we just passed the food to the right person but when he noticed us doing that he looked at us and said "Oh that happened because you all look the same" We are Hispanic by the way, my boyfriend asked him "What is that supposed to mean?" But he didn't answer and just walked away. Then maybe two minutes later he handed us our tab didn't ask how we were splitting it,there were five of us at the table. At no point did we say we wanted the tab, he then completely ignored us never came back to ask if we wanted refills or if we needed or wanted anything else. My boyfriend had to get up and go to a drink station and serve himself a cup of water! We went to this place because of the great reviews on here and were really surprised to be treated the way we did. His comment of us all looking the same was uncalled for and racist. I don't know what his problem was with us but he's lucky our parents raised us to be the bigger person in situations like this. It's just sad that there are still some people who think like him. We will never visit this restaurant again and hope none else gets treated the way we did. read more
