Most recently, I got a french shellac manicure and it's been a week so far - with no incidents - I don't know about you, but in the past, my french manis haven't lasted 3 days, and i usually end up chipping my shellac in a week given how rough i am on my hands. I fully recommend going to Beauty Nail Salon fr you manicure needs!! Prices are quite fair and if you go around 4/5 you'll get one on one service! *update: have gotten a french shellac mani elsewhere since (I'm hard on my nails, and I have a week long meeting out of town and wanted a freshen up - they lasted 2 and a half weeks with serious use with NO CHIPS and NO PEELING!) my new manicure does not even compare to what the gentleman at Beauty Nail Salon did.

Do not risk your nails here! It has changed…read more The girl started to use the dremel on my nails and I told her that my nails are thin so I did not want it used. I have never needed the dremel. She insisted so I asked just the top coat. She did 3 right down to my nail taking the top off and kept saying she was a professional. I spoke to Tammy the owner who had never used the dremel with no problem when I used to go. Tammy agreed it is only possible to get Shellac off with a dremel. They were both very rude. I have been left with 3 damaged nails.

They had fake nail swatches with all their polishes numbered, I asked for one that looked like a baby pink with a subtle blue duo-chrome sparkle on the swatches, came out with a baby pink but the duo-chrome finish from the swatch did not show up. Beyond that, place was clean as far as i could see, the artists were professional and my appointment didn't take very long at all so that was nice. I'm very happy with the shape and quality of my nail, I asked for "pointy, shiny acrylics" and the man who was doing my nails was very polite and made nice conversation even though it was quite loud in the salon. I would not recommend you get dip nails done here…read more I got my nails done 2 days ago and the polish that they put on top of the 2 thin layers of clear dip powder is already peeling. My usual place does 3-4 layers and they use the powder colour that I choose. Lan nails insisted on using a clear dip powder and then just applying a colour polish coat on top. A waste of $55, I'll need to get it fixed elsewhere this week. I don't live in Kingston.

Thanks for the great colour, Brenda! ----------- I've supported Tips and Clips since they opened but my experience this weekend has ruined my view of this business. I received a cut and colour from a junior stylist, and instead of giving me dark brown like I asked, I ended up with a darker copper red! I didn't realize how red it actually was until I got home and looked at it under natural light so I called back immediately. The stylist basically accused me of trying to get freebies and said it was my fault for choosing the wrong sample. I went back to the salon when I got off the phone to talk to them, but the owners weren't in, only the staff. A more experienced stylist even told her right in front of me that she had mixed the dye incorrectly but no one offered to fix the mistake. Well they said I could come back in and pay full price haha, as if. The junior stylist spent the whole time angrily trying to make sure I was fully aware she wasn't giving me any "freebies." The experienced stylist even had to keep shushing her because she was yelling at me in front of other customers. Not sure if the owners are ever around or care, but it's a shame because I have always supported this business and never once had a problem with a cut or pedi/mani, and never had issues with any other staff member. Make sure you stick with a senior stylist who knows what they're doing! In the mean time I'll be driving into town from now on!

Carmelita is amazing, she gives terrific pedicures (all of the staff do actually). The salon is always sparkling clean, there is beautiful natural light streaming in from the large windows. It's a spacious, relaxing environment to be pampered in. They also sell bags, scarves and jewelry, beautiful things at great prices. I've been going there for about 3 years now and have never been disappointed, you won't be either!!
