Will never stay or play here ever again. Got there on a Sunday, which was not very crowded-yay. However it went south by 10 pm. We were ready to gamble and have some fun. My friend that I was with didn't know how to play craps, so we were both at the table so I could coach him. For some reason one of the dealers kept yelling at me to not hold my drink near the table. Okay. No problem. However when I would lean in to hep my friend with the game, she yelled at me several time to the point that it was obnoxious. In a private conversation with my friend, I asked why do you think she's being such a B to me, what am I doing wrong? So then she got really mad and told me to leave the table - even though we were staying at the hotel and spending money. We're not talking penny slots. So the guy next to us, heard the whole thing and stood up for us. He told her that we weren't doing anything wrong and to just lay off. Then she ended up tossing him off the table as well. He wasn't doing anything or arguing. She apparently called security and we left that table, ready to play another game and spend more money. So the security guard tried to pull me aside, and I refused, saying that he can talk to me in public. He ended up getting the story from my friend, who was very much sober and he got the full story. He spoke to the craps dealers (Kandis and another one I didn't catch the name of) and came back to say we had to leave. That's right, Joe the supervisor made us leave the floor all together, along with the poor guys who was playing and stood up for us. As we all were leaving the entire gambling floor, on the way to the elevators, I asked the concierge if there was a little store that we could purchase non-alcoholic beverages. He (obviously had been contacted about some belligerent guests- goo grief) put his hand on my arm shoving me away toward the guest rooms-not cool, and told me that we need to leave right now! Even though we had paid for a room for four nights. We left back to the room and swore that we were not going to spend another dime at Ameristar. The rest of the trip, we went to Lodge Casino across the street. The dealers there were so nice, making it a very fun outing, even if we didn't win, we didn't care because we were having fun. The dealers there were very helpful and encouraged the moves of the game. Will NEVER waste my money or time at the Ameristar again. It's too bad, because the room was actually very nice. Last tip- if you expect housekeeping services, you need to call the other number and request it before 11am. Just so you know, because no one told us. read more

Before booking, I noticed Ameristar had a surprisingly low 2.8 average review score on Yelp, which almost made me hesitant. However, after staying here, I honestly do not see a solid reason for such a low rating, other than perhaps the elevator situation or people reacting to typical resort food prices. I stay in Las Vegas quite a bit at properties like Bellagio, Encore, and Park MGM, so I have high standards for hotel stays, and Ameristar exceeded our expectations in almost every way. We stayed in one of their pet-friendly rooms with our dog, and it was easily one of the best dog-friendly stays we have ever had. Usually, dog-friendly hotel rooms are a disappointment. They can smell, feel relegated to a run-down wing of the building, and cost a fortune in pet fees. In fact, the only other option in Black Hawk, Lady Luck, charges a steep $75 per night fee. Ameristar charges a very reasonable $50 per stay, which is such a fantastic value. Service was great right from the valet when we pulled up. It is worth noting that there are no dedicated bellmen on staff, but you can easily grab luggage carts from the front desk by leaving your driver's license with them while you unpack. The room itself was clean, spacious, and features a super comfy bed. I loved that there was no carpet in the dog-friendly room, just clean LVP flooring, which makes so much sense for pet stays. The bathroom setup reminded me a lot of Encore, complete with dual sinks, a large soaking tub, a walk-in shower, a private toilet closet, full-size toiletries including lotion (which is so useful in the mountain air), and plenty of extra towels. They catered to our pet so thoughtfully. The room included a nice built-in dog crate, elevated dog bowls with a food mat, an in-room refrigerator to store food, and a sweet welcome bag with goodies like poop bags. A couple of quick operational notes for future guests: a few elevators seemed to be down during our visit, which could cause a bit of a wait during peak hours. Also, the dog relief area is across the street. Traffic over there can be surprisingly busy with people speeding, so just exercise a little caution when crossing with your pet. Overall, do not let the lower review scores scare you off. We were thoroughly impressed by the cleanliness, service, and thoughtful amenities, and we will definitely be back! read more

If I could give a zero star rating That would be to much. My wife and I usually receive free complimentary rooms. We decided to splurge a little bit and booked one of their spa suites for 3 days. The suite was as advertised. It came with the 3 tvs. Un fortunately, only one of them worked. We didn't receive any maid service for our entire stay. Asked housekeeping for some extra coffee and fresh towels. We received extra robes and no coffee. Bottled water was never replaced. Ice machine on our floor never worked. Hot tub on roof was shut down, as were the fire pits. Unable to book any spa services for our entire stay. No room service of any kind available. On the first night of our stay, the casinos main entrance was closed forcing us to walk an extra half a mile in a snowstorm just to get back to our room. Apparently one person didn't show up for work I was told. No luggage assistance at all. I had to leave my drivers license to borrow a luggage trolley. Dog poop on floor as we entered the valet entrance. I could have put up with all of this if it were complimentary. You get what you pay for. To be charged for 3 nights in a suite for this is ridiculous. Never again. We will be taking our business to the Monarch from here on. read more

Traveled in for a few day relaxing time the best we can under the circumstances. Safety and cleaning seemed to be done well. Grounds look clean and they are trying to do their best. So the first day at arrival checked in room was average at best. Went down to the casino floor to play some games. Never being here before we went to get players cards. The lady seemed like she was struggling with my information but after a long wait got my card. After a full day of gambling I forgot the card in a machine. (Games really tight! Yikes!). Anyways go to get a reprint they can't find my information. The lady entered my information all weird so NONE of the 6-8k worth of gambling went on my players card! They had to make me a new account. Didn't offer to do anything! It's like holy crap at least give me some bonus play or something! Definitely won't be coming back. Will check out other casinos in Black Hawk or just go to Vegas like we usually do. read more

Wow, the food and service is awful here. I'm staying two nights, and had a complaint about the service so I went and talked to a hotel manager. It turned out to be a blond woman who must have thought I was young and stupid, because that is exactly how she treated me. Very patronizing. The food is awful. I ordered a chicken wrap from the restaurant on the second level, but the chicken was served as fatty chunks...it was disgusting. I ate at the restaurant deli on the first floor, and when I ordered the cashier dove into the back of a refrigerator behind her and picked one that tasted as if it had been there for five to six hours. The pickle juice had fully saturated the sandwich and it was gooey....also disgusting. This hotel would be great, if they fired most of the employees and hired competent people. read more

This place should be listed on the Most Wanted in America. A complete dump. The staff in this turd hole is incomprehensible. The casino manager in Blackhawk (Fat bald headed basterd) needs his face kicked in. He thinks he is god's give and a Mr. badass. Under no circumstances should you be allowed to treat the public the way you do. A diabetic gulf war veteran and you lie to security telling them I am drunk when I am having a diabetic low and need help?? You need to be sued and relived from your position. Your a complete scumbag. You leave that dump and your a nobody. You need a strong lesson in the form of an ass whooping. You should be charged with falsified statements to security. Ameristar is a nasty dirty little dump and should be avoided at all costs. read more

As frequent guests of this hotel we are very disappointed on the rooms - most of them need updating. Our last experience on June 29,2025: The room was not vacuumed (crumbs on the carpet), had red spots stains in the ceiling, the mattress was very squeaky, spring box broken etc The worst part was dealing with the front desk manager Michelle. She made us feel non special, she pointed out other complaints we had in the past (all Legitimate). She was not friendly or nice at all. It's a shame that the hotel has people like her in management. Makes you second guess why we come back. Terrible experience with her. On the other end some people at the front desk ie Johnathan makes us feel special, everytime we're there. read more

This place is cool, don't get me wrong! The environment is amazing and so is the buffet! These types of situations could happen anywhere and unfortunately, I had to be visiting in the wrong area at the wrong time. The problem is management. The support was said but never done. I felt like I was told what I wanted to hear, so the concern can be addressed, and closed. Without documenting what was told to me by staff members. Times I've called, it felt like it never happened, because when I try to ask what was said...there is no notation of that complaint, names of who I talked to, or history of me ever calling about this incident when I reported that night when I stayed in the hotel. It's frustrating. read more

Worst place to gamble ever! you may have to spend several hundred dollars just to win twenty dollars, I'm not joking! I watched this guy put in over a grand in one machine, he was betting five dollars a bet, slot machine, he spent a thousand dollars and hit fifty dollars once on a bonus. He then got security to watch his machine then went to the ATM for more money! The drinks taste like coolaid, you get one every hr on the hr, not a minute less! Food in the deli sucks, its expensive. They sent me coupons for a free room but every time I tried to use it they were full, corrupt jack asses..... I hope Monarch puts them out of business! read more

We had a wonderful experience at Ameristar BlackHawk, thanks to John at the front desk. From the moment we arrived, he was attentive, professional, and genuinely focused on making sure all of our needs were met. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. It's rare to find someone who provides such outstanding customer service with a positive attitude and attention to detail. John truly made a difference in our experience, and we greatly appreciate all of his help. Thank you, Jon, for going over the top to make our visit exceptional! read more

Fantastic accomodations. I've stayed at most places up the hill and can confidently say that Ameristar provides the best experience. Not to say that it's perfect, but it's the leader of the pack. I hope everyone steps up there contributions and the entire town continues to improve. This place is fun and not the old snoozer of a casino that is much of Blackhawk. The rooms are fun, modern and clean. They have a hotub on the rooftop. Gamble, enjoy the buffet and have fun with friends. Will be back! read more

There hotel is starting to show use and have went down hill a lot. They should be considered a 3 star hotel now. They are cheap as they can get on the promos for table game players. Don't visit the casino in Colorado when there are better options. They have a terrible marketing department and are as cheap as you can get. Hopefully the open some casinos to compete with them. Save your money and don't visit Casinos in Colorado. The scenery is great but the casinos are as cheap as hell. read more

These people are dishonest scumbags. I was playing craps, laid a $25 chip beyind my original bet and they refused to payout bc I didn't have the chips stacked up on top of each other. OF course these lowlives would have taken the money if I'd lost. I've gambled alot and NEVER been STOLEN from. I will never patronize these scumbags again. They are rogue. Take your gambling elsewhere. Their comps suck anyway, there are plenty of casinos to visit. DO NOT GAMBLE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Upgraded to the Spa Suite and regretted it immediately. The fridge was broken, the curtains were cut and there were carvings on the doors and walls. Ameristar used to be a top notch place to stay with unless luxuries, but now it's like a Motel 6 in the mountains. Plus the A.C. Is extremely loud. However maintenance did come and promptly swap it fridge. read more
