It has a very grown up, intimate vibe (21+ only), perfect for date night or a night out with friends. We were lucky enough to visit on a night with live music (they have it Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays), and it completely set the mood. Even though it wasn't very busy, the energy was wonderful and the music was excellent. Service was top notch. Meghan was fantastic, friendly, attentive, accommodating, and so helpful throughout the meal. Faith, the owner, also stopped by several times to check on us, which earned major points. Such a sweet touch and much appreciated. Now the food... wow. We started with the seared scallop special topped with caviar, and it was outstanding, perfectly cooked, with the caviar adding just the right touch of saltiness. Honestly, we wanted to order more. The hot goat cheese with hot honey appetizer was delicious and so comforting. Definitely get extra bread, you'll want it. Since it was Taco Tuesday, we tried the taco trio with chicken, steak, and shrimp. The steak and shrimp were standouts. The chicken was slightly dry, but overall we really enjoyed them. And the biggest surprise of the night was the shrimp and sausage skillet. Absolutely incredible. So flavorful and rich, and again we needed more bread to soak up every bit of that delicious sauce. We also ordered the crème brûlée for dessert, which was good. The sugar topping was slightly thick, and I'll admit I'm a bit of a dessert snob, so while we enjoyed it, the meal itself was really the shining star of the night. I'm already dreaming about my next visit. I was genuinely impressed by everything, service, ambiance, food, and live music. This place is a whole vibe. Five stars all the way. Highly recommend for anyone looking for amazing food in a sultry, intimate setting. I've already recommended it to several friends. Thank you Meghan and Faith for such a great night. It was our first visit, arriving just as they opened, and having the whole romantic, classy speakeasy all to ourselves, our server Megan, made us feel right at home. Ensuring we received a little history about the establishment, the day's specials, and what some of their customers' favorites. To begin the experience, we received complimentary glasses of sparkling wine in celebration of their one-year anniversary, which was a nice touch. After a brief moment, we settled on sausage and three-cheese skillet appetizers with a house baguette. The two dishes arrived piping hot, gooey, and enticing! Amazingly delicious to say the least! Kudos to their place settings, glassware, and cloth napkins. Our selected wine was excellent as well, and the selection is very worldly and admirable. THIS is my favorite date place in the area!!! Chill, fashionable, comfortable seating, gorgeous bar, soft music in the background allowing for conversation, and the restroom provides a pleasant surprise as well. They are mindful in their farming practices, ethical in their animal treatment, and you can taste the love. I was vegetarian for most of my life, mostly because felt guilty eating animals. When my health began to become effected by my lack of animal proteins, I slowly began to introduce meats. I bought from Whole Foods, it was "pasture raised," it was pretty tasty, but I had a hard time digesting it. A few years later I started buying my meats from a farm in Nor Cal and having it shipped. I didn't like that everything was frozen but I knew it was better than the grocery-bought stuff. Once I switched to Da-Le, was when I REALLY understood how important the methods of animal care are. The farm I purchased from prior, had no intel on feeding or culling methods, and when asked how they tended their animals, their response was, "we do what we want and they do what they want, we don't really tend them." I like the idea of free-range animals, but the vendor then went on to explain that they travel for great lengths of time and lots of people come and help out. It felt disconnected to me, like it was all for profit not out of love for the methodology of farming and providing the community with great food. Anyway, this is not about the "other guys," this is about Da-Le. I have built a beautiful relationship with Ashlie and her Laguna Beach Farmers Market crew, they always make great recommendations, and are truly engaging when you come to their booth. I don't feel rushed, I feel cared about! 3 years later, I am writing blogs for Da-Le, something that brings me the deepest joy, because I am so passionate about sustainability and wellness. My digestion of meats has greatly improved, and I personally feel it is because the animals live low-stress lives and eat quality food. I feel good about my consumption of meat when I support operations like Da-Le, and my body does too!
