If you are in need of a great propane company, then choose Amerigas. We have used them for over 20 years.

I had to pay a fee for Amerigas to deliver my tank about 2.5 years ago. I have sold the home and need the tank to be removed. Now they want to charge me $299 to remove the tank and another $149.99 for early termination of the "3 year contract". I HAVE SOLD THE HOUSE!!! I no longer need their service. And they are going to take their sweet time completing the removal request. "It may take up to 2 weeks". Not sure what is going to happen when the new owners bring in a new tan and the Amerigas tank is in the way. Not to mention that every time I have tried to call and get customer service, I have to wait FOREVER for them to answer. Waiting over 40 minutes for a person to answer is just typical for them. They promised me that they would install a remote tank monitor when they installed it and never did. Their website also sucks. I called in over 6 times trying the get them to fix the website because after over 4 refills, the site still showed that I never completed the original tank fill after having the tank delivered. AVOID THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN! They have charged me $249.49 for services I did not request and even verified I would not be charged about requiring a quote to repair a plastic lid. Additionally, they have charged me a $36.00 late fee for not paying my bill when THEY told me not to pay it until the case number is resolved. I have called 5 times since January of 2025 and each time, other than 1 where I spent over an hour waiting for a supervisor to come on the phone, I have been told that my case is still in review and they were attempting to contact the local office manager. The last time I called to check on the status (March 31, 2025) I was told there was not account history of a case number with an adjustment of the price on it. I was told that after "a certain amount of time" that data "goes away", so I am starting over. Customers are unable to contact local Amerigas Offices for resolution and you must go through a call center in another country. All I want to do id have my bill corrected so that I can pay my bill, but I have zero confidence that this issue would be resolved if I paid any portion of this bill prior to resolution. read more

Zero Stars. I have never complained about a company before, but this is the worst company our business has ever delt with. They said numerous times in a two-week period that they would deliver propane to us, and they lied... and lied... and lied again. We had a past due balance that came out of nowhere, and we paid it on the spot. They said it would take 48 hours to process. That was on a Sunday. We waited until Wednesday to get Emergency Delivery for Friday (with a charge, no problem) and they said they WOULD deliver Propane by Friday. Friday came around and no propane. We were completely out. Talked to them also on Saturday and Sunday, sometimes 4x in one day, on hold while waiting for an answer each time for over 1&1/2 hours, listening to the run-a-round that was told to us when they finally would pick up. I was even hung up on while on hold....and then finally, I think, they did not know how to respond to us anymore, so just gave us an answer that we would get delivery. Another lie. We never got delivery. Now we are closed for the season and missed out on three good money days - but we could not cook because we needed propane to operate our gas grill and gas fryers in our kitchen. We are not past due, bill-wise. We pay/paid our bills. We do not understand why they serviced us all season and we paid the monthly bills on time, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, a past due bill...??? But we paid it and did not question it. Then here comes the lies after payment.... saying they would deliver, and they never did. We kept getting the run-a-round over and over. Looking for a new company to service us. Too bad. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. They delivered to the wrong address and then tried to charge me 300 dollars to bring fuel to the correct address. It took them 3 weeks to figure out they made the mistake. I am never ordering from them again read more

Amerigas will rip you off! They are charging me $185 to RETRIEVE THEIR RUSTED PROPANE TANK because I switched propane suppliers. I made lease payments for over 15 years! I bought propane from them for 15 years. And now they charge me for picking up their tank because I switched suppliers! read more

Amerigas will not refill my propane tank after weeks of requests and many phone calls. I have been calling them daily now and each customer service representative tells me something different. They will say that it will be today or tomorrow. Or that they will put me on emergency status. I have gotten many different stories I have been on "Auto Refill" but my tank ran out of propane about a month ago and they never contacted me. My tenant and their children are cold and suffering. This company is heartless. read more

Horrible customer service. You can't get anyone local on the phone. It all goes to their main hub. They didn't keep up with checking tanks and we ran out of propane in the middle of winter. Instead of calling or knocking on the door to see if someone was home, the driver just stuck a note on the door saying your tank is empty and we can't fill it if no one is home and he left. After calling twice a day every day for a week, we still had no propane. You could see your breath inside our house. After 10 days we found a new company who came out that day with a new tank and filled it. We told AmeriGas to come get their tank out of our yard. That was January, it is now May and the tank is still there. We keep calling and keep getting the same run around. So frustrating. Do NOT use AmeriGas! read more

My propane tank was leaking from the valve. I called Amerigas and a tech came out within a couple of hours, did a temporary repair, but advised that my tank (which I lease from Amerigas) was antiquated and needed to be replaced. The tech advised that it might take up to ten days to get a replacement tank. During the leak, my propane dropped from 40% to 5%. Eight weeks later, I never heard anything from Amerigas. It is unknown why they failed to follow-up. I called then, reiterated the above, and was told I would get a call back from service. A bit later, Service called to advise the first time they can get the replacement tank to me would be eight days later. Wow. I think that a person would be wise to find another supplier of propane. Amerigas offered only a discounted rate to replace the propane that leaked out of their tank, which I also think is poor customer service. The issue with untimely service work seems deplorable to me. When a person effectively communicates an issue with poor service, there should be an effort made to rectify the problem. I've changed service providers in the past (cable tv, phone, Internet provider, etc) due to lack of follow-up. When you pay top dollar for services, they should be provided and in a timely manner. I don't think Amerigas and I will do business in the future. read more

Propane Service 1/21/2021 2:44 pm I want to take an opportunity to report about the poor service from Amerigas, a major propane company here in America. Amerigas greatly expanded over the last few years by buying out smaller propane companies. I used to have Manley Gas, as my propane provider and they were great to deal with. Amerigas bought them out and took over exhisting accounts as well as taking on new business in the area. Since Amerigas took over my accounts, they have let me run out of propane on multiple occasions. I never allow my tanks go below 40% before requesting a refill. Several times it has taken up to six weeks to get a propane delivery, and despite multiple calls to Amerigas, multiple emails, and instant messaging on their website, their customer service has been terrible. During my last issue with Amerigas, I logged up 27 phone calls to them that went unanswered, often being on hold up to two hours a call, 13 calls in which I actually spoke to a person who promised an expedited delivery that never came, and 17 emails or I.M.s in which I was promised the same, but got nothing. For those that have Amerigas currently, I recommend you switch out before you experience what I did. For new customers, I would not even consider Amerigas as they are without a doubt the poorest company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Good grief Amerigas! My business is now going elsewhere. read more
