    Baybreeze Plumbing & Gas

The other companies gave me patronizing vibes and quotes that felt like total scams. Everything changed when I called Baybreeze. Robin, the owner, is incredibly down-to-earth. He gave me a very reasonable quote right over the phone and--strangely enough in this day and age--didn't ask for a single cent until the entire job was finished. I was honestly stunned by that level of trust and integrity. Monty and Mike handled the actual work, and they were fantastic. They were polite, courteous, and the quality of their work was exceptional--all at a fraction of the cost of the other guys. It's rare to find a team that combines great craftsmanship with honest pricing. Baybreeze is officially on my speed dial for any future plumbing or gas needs. If you want a fair price and professional service without the runaround, call these guys!"

They showed me the faulty areas on the wax ring that was causing the leak and explained every step in the process for replacing it as they were performing the work. As someone with no experience in this type of work I mostly enjoyed their professional attitude, quality of work and clean up afterward, as well as their simple explanation for the problem and solution. I was glad to see the previous positive reviews of Baybreeze held up through my first hand experience.

It's a bridge and a tunnel!! what's not to like? approximately twice the fun for the same drive and…read morestill no tolls!! the MMMBT is basically two straight parts joined by a curved part so navigating this roadway shouldn't tax anybody's senses or abilities. the sloping approaches and the actual tunnel bit are controlled by gravity which exerts a nearly uniform 1-g of downforce so the driver doesn't have to "steer down" or "steer up" all that is necessary is to drive straight until the curvey part, follow the road through the bend, and then straight again until exiting the structure. ta da!! the tunnely part consists of more than a dozen prefabbed 300 foot long sections that were sunk into a trench and buried; FYI: the best guess on a "use by" date is somewhere past 2052. the traffic lanes are thirteen feet wide with fourteen-and-a-half feet of usable vertical clearance plus two 30-inch wide ledges on the side of the roadways just in case you have to walk out. please note that the deepest part of the tunnel is some 45 feet below the average low-tide mark so good luck with the emergency exit ;-) don't trust the science? I don't really blame you (especially since the great plannedemic) but this is civil engineering - real life application of the hard sciences - not the soft goo pedaled by the TV taking heads so carry on.

Traffic was smooth for the most part here, with minor hold ups while approaching the tunnel portion. What I remember most about this is that there was a lot of major construction happening. I'm not sure what they are doing as I don't live here, but I can only hope that it is to improve traffic flow. Two lanes in each direction would probably benefit with an increase in lanes. But that is just my thought on it. It is scenic to drive, but you really do need to pay attention to the road and traffic. Almost like a mini Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel.

    Chuckatuck Library

    Chuckatuck Library

There are three branches to the city of Suffolk's library system: the Morgan Memorial Library in…read morethe downtown area, the North Suffolk Library, and the Chuckatuck Branch Library. I had already visited the first two branches numerous times but had never quite made it to the Chuckatuck Branch. I decided it was time to remedy that and made my way there recently to check it out. The Chuckatuck Branch is small and located on the outskirts of town, which -combined with their limited hours- is why I hadn't managed a visit yet. As you near the library situated next to Saunders Supply Company, you spot the sign, which screams, "We have internet!" Only in rural towns will you find libraries needing to broadcast this fact. The "parking lot" is small and not marked but trust me when I say you won't have any trouble finding a spot. Upon entering, a librarian looked up to greet me. She explained that the library has been recently refurbished. A little history on the place: back in the 1920s, a group of women wanted to open a library for the community. They began working at it, but sadly, it failed. Their dream was realized in 1983 thanks in great part to Saunders Supply Company who donated the site and building where the current Chuckatuck Library stands. This was definitely a group effort and brought to fruition in order to serve the more rural part of Suffolk. I spent a few minutes walking around to see what they had to offer; it didn't take me long. They have all of the usual genres--just not a large selection. However, you can always request books through the online catalogue and they will be sent over from other locations. There were a few computers being utilized as well and a room towards the back that perhaps holds small events. The biggest surprise was the shopping carts that are also over at the North Suffolk branch; it was somewhat humorous to see them in such a small library. It's difficult to give a rating to a place such at this. While it is extremely small and underequipped compared to the other branches--who am I to judge its value to the community it serves? If you decide to check it out, I recommend also combining the trip with a visit to Lone Star Lakes Park just around the corner. Books to ignite the mind; nature to soothe the soul.

This location still offers library events for kids, adults and families. There are programs available at various times and days. The staff is friendly and helpful. I have often seen my familiar staff from different locations at this spot. There is also a couple computers for use as well as a nice seating room in the back perfect for story time. The parking is small and limited. A busy program like the Eclipse viewing had me parking across the street at the store. Otherwise I have been able to park fairly close to the door.
