Stay away! Worst company I've had the misfortune of dealing with. We moved two years ago and the prior owners used them. I called customer service (?) to have someone mark our propane line and they scheduled a service. He never showed up. I then changed propane companies and notified Amerigas and asked them to remove their propane tank. After three calls, I was advised that the tank would be retrieved. Please whatever you do do NOT use Amerigas for your propane!!! They promise the moon when you sign up but in the end can't deliver. You will NEVER speak with someone "in the office" if there is an issue. You speak with a foreign call center. Even the employees that work for them (drivers) are so disgruntled they speak poorly of thier own company. There are too many things that have happened to list...believe me this is a company that takes you down the rabbit hole. NO customer service. read more

I rarely post reviews. However; this one is well worth my time. AmeriGas is absolutely THE worst customer service I have ever experienced! Living in Montana, we rely on our Propane. This company shows up when they want to (if ever) gives you the complete run-around, excuses for not showing up for scheduled deliveries AND blames YOU the customer for their horrible communication! I finally have had enough. I went with another Propane provider and I was so excited to call AmeriGas and tell them to come pick up their Fu&&$ing tank!!!!! On the phone right now with some guy from India... there is no way to contact the "local" V-1 Propane office like you used to be able to. Before Amerigas bought V-1 you could call and speak with someone locally who always made things work. Amerigas is horrible. The customer service is covered overseas. The reps TRY to help but they have no clue really, often they just repeat the script they have in front of them because they don't quite "get" what your problem/concern/question is. It is beyond frustrating and very time consuming. I am on budget billing, the idea is that you have the same payment every month. The old V-1 used to call me if my usage changed and re-negotiated a new monthly payment, which occurred about once every 3 years. Amerigas just CHANGES the payment due every 3 months, with no phone call or letter. Your bill always shows "over-due". That isn't budget billing, it's greed. As soon as my tank is low enough I am switching to a LOCAL company. It's never good when a conglomerate buys out a local business. It becomes all about the money instead of the service. Would NOT recommend this company. We moved into a house that already was using their services. We had less than 5% propane left in the winter... we have a 7 month old so needed propane! I called and the SOONEST they could get us refilled was 7-10 days. That's crazy and unacceptable. We were also told we physically needed to go to the office and fill out new paperwork as new owners. Why not just do all that after you come to the house for refill? Needless to say, we went with a different company who came out in less than 48 hours with a brand new tank and all the "paperwork" was done over the phone and when they arrived. A much easier, nicer and more convenient company to work with. Also, it took this company forever to come get their old tank that was just sitting in our driveway as an eye sore. read more

The only reason they get one is because zero is not an option. Local?... Not hardly. You have to call a national operator so they can tell you what the business literally down the street is doing. Then, they don't relay that information to the local driver so we keep missing our delivery. Yep, you guessed it, we're out of propane after getting the run around for over two weeks. This place is the worst. Prices are ALWAYS higher than everywhere else around. It is impossible to actually talk to anyone at the local office you get amerigas's automated phone system and have to wait forever. If you order online they give you a delivery window of 1-10 days... do yourself a favor and go with any other place besides Amerigas read more

Do not use Amerigas. The prices are very high for the propane, I saved over $1 a gal by switching. The customer service is awful and they stick you with petty service charges every chance they get. Shop around and see for yourself. read more

I just got a bill for $2358.49. This is what was not covered by my monthly payment plan as set up by these guys. Now they want it all in the next 4 month at $589.00/month, a far cry from the budget payment they set up at $142.00/month. I just called them the 4th of February and was told the budget payment was ok. Now 5 days later it is not. Retirees can't just work a little overtime to make up shortages in funds. It is called a FIXED income for a reason. Their customer service rep was not interested in anything other than getting my signature on a new payment plan and an immediate payment for the larger amount. I almost applied for a job with this company. I am sure glad I didn't. This is not the kind of company I would like to work for. I also will not do any more business with them. read more

We've been with V1 ever since our house was built. They are friendly, helpful and couteous when I ask dumb questions that are clearly printed on my bill. The reviewed my usage to update my budget. They offer helpful plans to keep us from facing huge bills. They are great. And I've always felt they do their best to keep the cost of heating this place reasonable.
