When I used to use my card years ago at the ATM at the quick stop it wouldn't work and then after so many attempts it locked me out. I went to them they told me I needed a new card but I needed to pay them $10,I felt like I was being hustled,I told them I don't have it and walked away. Then one day the new card came out,it was the newer style card,I didn't have anything in my account,but when I had money transferred into my account they automatically took the money out for the card. Just Imagine how many member they did that to? I wont use the card to purchase things,as when you go in the store no matter where you are,they always have issues when they use their card,all the time,they when it does go through you can't keep track of your money and then you end up over withdrawing like many do. read more

Run, you don't need the frustration you'll experience with this place! First: I regularly vacation in Florida, reporting a travel notice each time. Whether I'm able to get cash from an ATM there is a 50/50 proposition. Being sick of having to call to say yes that was me, and reset things, over and over, and living with concern if my cc was going to work as we vacationed, I established a relationship with a second CU for peace of mind while on vacation. With so many automatic deposits and bill paying withdrawals I hung with the ACU credit card too for that purpose. I secured a car loan from ACU while having an excellent credit score, confident in having never missed a payment in over 35 years, and eye popping substantial investment accounts. At the last moment they hit you with a $95 junk fee, unrepresented in the APR. this in case you were to default, non-refundable on payoff, an insulting money grab. I have since financed two high value cars at my other credit union, with no required default junk fee. (Both of those at a reduced rate because of my solid financial position). Reported to ACU that my credit card appeared compromised via a short conversation with a computer. I found that they immediately shut my account down. No followup communication. Three weeks later as I dealt with meeting all the automatic payments, no new cards arrived (as other CU's automatically send you). I had to call to request them. Nearly two weeks later one arrived for me, not a second for my wife on this join account. Called again. Nearly two weeks later again, we get one for her with a different number. Closed out the cards. Only by asking about the rewards due me did I learn that I had to call them within 90 days to get my cc rewards. Do you think they would just send what you're entitled too, no. You must know enough to call for those or lose them. They now have a new web page layout. I went to update my external monthly mortgage payment transfer amount, and upps, they forgot to provide any info on those scheduled transfers, or to access any of those external payments to alter one if necessary. Two weeks now and it's still not accessible for me to update a payment. Closing all accounts, frustrated dealings are not my thing. What a sorry operation, moving everything over to the compitant CU. Run ! Update: I went in and canceled my Credit Card only to later find that they also shut down my debit card for my checking account, which I wanted to maintain for another month. Tammy said my dispute was cancelled but when I called for the dispute after her she said it was still open. If I had the option to give zero stars I certainly would. Their customer service is awful with virtually no follow-up. When you sign up they don't talk to you about their fees. If you have a checking account their "overdraft protection" is a joke. They'll pay it but charge you a $28 fee. If you take that protection off but something tries to go through they won't pay it and STILL charge you a $28 fee. Two weeks ago on 07/08 I received an overdraft fee in error. They refunded it and they never do that unless it's their fault. On Monday of this week a transaction for $25 went through and since gave me yet another overdraft fee because they didn't do the refund until today. Today, three more transactions went through and three more $28 fees went through. IF they had not charged me an overdraft in error and waited so long to refund it, the money for all but one of the 4 transactions this week would have been there. I knew the 4th transaction would jot and planned to pay that overdraft fee. I did NOT plant for $84 in 3 more fees. You call, they don't even care. Zero empathy and not even any sympathy, just launch into their "policies". I can tell you their policy certainly isn't customer service. I've never been treated so badly by an establishment I keep my money in. Or just turned away when there was clearly something amiss that was not entirely my fault. Americu Reps at the Apple Pay verification phone number are rude and disrespectful and they can not verify your card for Apple Pay. They force you to contact "Member Services" which is another number where you sit on hold f HOURS and still no one answers the phone to verify your card. Americu is the most ANTI USER FRIENDLY bank because of their employees and their processes. I never had this issue with Navy Federal or BB&T before it became Truist Bank. The process to add Apple Pay was as simple as logging into my account through the bank app. None of this rudeness and lack of communication. what's the point of having a main phone number if you can't do anything with your ow money???? You want to stay connected with the community, but oneida County's payroll isn't on your approved payroll list. A list in which you will not disclose to your members so they know if their payroll check is on the approved list to ensure knowing the time frame to access their money. Unless direct deposited but well your waiting for direct deposit to kick in please wait the 3-5 business days. Just a heads up .Thankfully I'm not in need of access to my pay check immediately. The absolute worst bank ever. I have late payments on my credit report that should not be there any they never fixed it. Now I am trying to pay my car off and they won't let me do it online I have to go into the branch and do it. Oh but they are only open 9-5 M-F when everyone is at work. Oh and if I do pay it online I have to pay a 15 dollar fee and then if I don't sent a letter in with all my information photo copied ( drivers license etc.) they won't close my savings account and will charge me 5 dollars a month for "inactivity" so I guess I am using PTO and going into a location. I went to them because they had my truck loan have a checking account or rather did and there was a mistake of 2 $.01 transactions that should've have even gone through with my account being set up to cancel and transaction that there wasn't enough for and I was charged $28 per $.01 transaction and the refused to credit the 2 charges of 2 transactions that NEVER EVEN WENT THROUGH. AmiriCU literally torture the guy, it was a never ending process and they kept asking him documents to no end, and every few weeks he had to provide them the current pay stubs again and again. Not only that but they also asked him many document that were not even mentioned on the commitment letter. AmeriCU's closing attorneys Mr. John Nasto / Mike Oshins are even worse, each morning he is raising new requirements for the buyer and the SELLER, and drag the process for MONTHS. AmeriCU just always seems to be lacking and they seem to behind in times which would be fine if you were in the town of bedrock living amongst the dinosaurs but in real life AmeriCU just doesn't seem to be able to keep up. I don't get notices usually until a day or two after charges are made I tried to use their ATM machine in Watertown just to have my card eaten up by the machine because it timed out at no time did the machine asked me if I wanted to continue or Q me for my password nothing it just took my card I called to have it rectified and was told it'll take 3 to 5 days for my replacementbcard to come I called and spoke to a supervisor after that and was told there's a $25 fee in contrast I had lost my ATM card in the past with Bank of America and they had a card out to me that same day and delivered to me the next day and didn't charge me an extra dime but not AmeriCU I spoke to two people on Sunday and two people on Monday one of them being a supervisor and none were able to get me out a new card at no charge even though it was their machine that took my card with no notice no do you want to continue no enter your pin nothing it just takes your card they also seem to be lacking in customer service as well now I'm waiting my three to five days to get my new card because that's how long it takes so that I can go close my accounts with AmeriCU luckily for me I have other banks that I use because AmeriCU was so prehistoric that it won't be that much of a setback for me but my daughter was not so fortunate she uses AmeriCU exclusively and her card was eaten at the same bank in Watertown at the same time as mine was just two different machines side-by-side from each other and both of our cards were eaten . when she called cust serv They acknowledged that their machine will eat your card after so many seconds and it does not give notice but instead of making it right and just sending us our cards through expedited Mail so that my daughter could have access to her money they refused without charging a $25 fee for each of us although they acknowledge that their machines will eat your card all we were asking for is for them to please send us a new card overnight which they flat out refused to do even after speaking directly to a supervisor it has become very apparent that AmeriCU just is not the one for me read more

It is hard for me to give them even one star. We joined AmeriCU when we moved here in 1996. It was a five star peration. Note the word "was". We have our mortgage and all of our personal banking was with them. Trouble started after ten years when they stopped auto drafting a credit card payment. Unfortunately, I was not notified. The routing number was incorrect, and the bank never mentioned it. They paid the bill for six months and got tired of it and stopped. Once I realized that it wasn't being paid (after 6 months, poor accounting on my part) I went to the bank, and they reported the above story. They said they were sorry, as my credit pummeled. They now treat me as a criminal. It gets better. I went to pay my mortgage one day with my debit card from another bank, and because. It says..."check I.D." Instead of a signature, they would not accept it. Mind you that I have known them for 20 years. Yes staff is still there that know me well. The outside service is slow and pathetic. I have waited thirty minutes on one occasion and twenty on another. This last time, I know...what was I doing at the drive-thru? Anyway, they wouldn't give me any information on my mortgage account even though they were going to put extra money to my principle, when I asked them to put it to taxes. I was not sure how much went where, but they wouldn't tell me. I would be done with them totally, but I have paid so much interest on my mortgage it is not sound to change it. However, I am considering. Oh and their mortgage department in Watertown, they laughed at my husband because his credit had droppped to below their standards. I wanted to re-fi my house and got started with Americu by opening an account online, which was easy and quick. Then, I applied for the re-fi and received a call back in about 3 days, and the lady that called me found something in our credit history that wasn't ours- YIKES! It took me less than 2 weeks to get all the proof and get the Credit Bureau to delete the record. I emailed the lady back to let her know it was resolved and received no response. I emailed about 3 times over 2 more weeks, then I got annoyed, so I called the company and they got me through to a supervisor who said that lady was no longer with the company but that he couldn't help me either. He told me to call a another person for assistance. Called him and received a call back that day, but alas, he just whined to me about how busy he was and asked if I call yet another person and told me that if that lady didn't call me back, that I should call him back and he would find time to help me....so, I bit my tongue and made the call. 2 days passed, no call. I called again. 2 days pass, no call. I called the busy man back- 2 days pass, no call. I called back and spoke with customer service and complained and they assured me that they would have someone call me- and they did! I spoke with a customer service person and I explained that I was in the application process already and just wanted to set up an appointment for me and my husband to review our options TOGETHER so that we could make an educated decision on which path was best for us- I thought, this is it- we can make it happen-= but.....she couldn't find my information in the system...and had to "find" the right person to call us, so I gave her all 3 of my Phone #'s to call me back which she swore she would, and that was about a month ago, and I never heard another peep- not even to get the disclosure letter that they ran my credit history....
