Good news: They got me the highest refund compared to TurboTax, this explaining the 3 stars…read more Bad news: After filing my taxes, I received email and messages offering me a refund advance; I applied online for the advance and was "approved" for an advance- I was excited, all the things I could do for my family sooner than later; I "accepted" the advance and was then told I had to see the Jackson-Hewitt desk at the local Walmart Store. So I make an appointment in good faith. I do into the Dewitt Walmart and am directed to the Jackson Hewitt Desk next to the bathrooms / stockrooms. The tax preparer, who was polite, intelligent and a victim of his own companies mistakes, informs me (while over-hearing the dis-grunted employees and customers in and out of the bathroom) that there is a "disconnect" between Jackson Hewitt online tax filing and Jackson Hewitt direct filing. He says I have to pay hundreds of dollars to re-file my taxes then MAYBE I could get an advance on my refund. Their email / messages are misleading to the point of being fraudulent. They wasted my time and disrupted my work and upset me!!!!!. I am going to report them to the BBB.

I met Mario this year just in time for the 2016 tax season. I was new to the area and recently separated from the United States Army. I had no idea what to do since I lost free tax preparation from being in the service. Mario offered his services to me and my wife. He took time to help us think of everything I could claim. He showed us ways that most people cheat themselves out of returns. In the end, Mario helped us net 5 times the amount of money for federal return than what we tried on our own online attempt. Last year, I did it…read moreon Turbo Tax (which was cheaper to do) but I wanted to go to a professional this year because I had more loan paperwork and more employers. I felt like my case was slightly more complicated than it was last year and I didn't have the mental brain power to sit down myself and decipher all the legal lingo on my own. I made an appointment online for the next day and that was super easy to do. I had an appointment with Jerry and he was ready for me as soon as I stepped in. He took time to explain things to me and threw in a few jokes here and there. It was a pleasure working with him. He has had 17 years experience in this field and has a PhD. I felt confident in his hands. The process took around 40 minutes and cost $198 (double what I paid to do it online by myself last year). Do not forget to bring your ID and your checking account number and routing number! There is plenty of parking at this location. The interior is very clean, warm and professional.

I had a very bad experience with Richard Urciuoli, President and CEO of Summit Planning Group, Inc…read more of Syracuse, New York. Mr. Urciuoli, in my opinion, exhibited deplorable behavior during a routine status review meeting. With no intended provocation on my part, Mr. Urciuoli suddenly lost his composure, went into a tirade complete with profanity, threw me out of his office and told me to take my money with me. At one point, his behavior became so unruly that he lunged across the table and snatched back a pair of complimentary planner booklets and pens he had presented to me moments earlier. All of this discourse was within earshot of other employees, via an open conference room door. I know of nothing I did that could have triggered this outburst. When the incident occurred, my accounts, my life's savings, were immediately placed on inactive hold and no guidance was provided as to how I should proceed going forward. I was briskly ushered out the front door, seconds after the outburst subsided. I was forced to stop everything I was doing and to seek alternative financial assistance, at a very inopportune time for me. Closing multiple accounts proved quite expensive and the effort required on my part was significant. All of this was unanticipated; brought about instantly by Mr. Urciuoli's inexcusable outburst. The Certified Financial Planner Rules of Conduct and Code of Ethics expound on the virtues of dignity, professionalism and courtesy toward clients. I believe Mr. Urciuoli's behavior toward me fell far short of any and all professional standards.
